I came here with a friend around 9:30 pm on a Saturday evening for a late dinner. I was surprised that the place was very busy, with hardly a free table that late at night. It has a 1950s diner feel but the menu features both old school and new wave twists on the classics. Our waitress was very entertaining when taking our orders. I had never been to a Steak and Shake before and I was pleasantly surprised with the food: my burger had that nice freshly-formed patty char from the grill, with onions and gooey cheese melted on it. Their fries are unique in that they're cut extra thin and have excellent zesty seasoning. Their milkshakes are thick and creamy, with delicious whipped cream and a cherry on top. Overall I was impressed with Steak and Shake and I would go back again.

I need to come here more often. I like this restaurant. It has a 50"s and 60"s setting plus they play music from that era too. I recommend coming in here after 2pm because they are way too busy for lunch. Even at 1pm they are busy. But it looks like it lightens up around 2. menu items ordered: cheeseburger, French fries and a coke. The cheeseburger was great and just the right size I think. It's was very tasty with lots of cheese. It came all American with pickle, lettuce, tomato. 0nion, mayonnaise, and mustard. The French fries were thin but good. My waitress was great.

Been here twice since last review, once through the Drive Thru. Three cars waiting for order but it went very quick. Certainly great for lunch lines and speed. My visit inside was just as good. Quick order and food served. Glad we have this place in Cleveland.

Dang I hate giving meh reviews but this one earned if. Love Steak n Shake but man this place could use a dose of common sense. Sure they were slam busy but that's no excuse for slow service and a dirty restaurant. First problems is that it was staffed with a bunch of high schoolers probably just hired for a summer job. We were about to be seated when one broke the mop right in front of us and the hostess just stood there and chatted with the co-worker while she blocked the aisle and had customers waiting. (Side note, mop was not broke just not put together correctly, I've mopped quiet a few floors in my day). Also the guilty mop breaker had the handle pointed right out towards customers! Again common sense should prevail at some point you would hope? Finally got to our booth and the bus boy had left a spray bottle on the table. Also failed to wipe off both seats from crumbs. Come on people this first impression stinks! Then it took 15min to get two burgers and a hotdog. Yes I know they are cooked to order but 15? Then after finishing I go to pay and then decide not to. There is a line of 10 people waiting to pay. Yes I counted. So rather than stand in line I waited till he was down to three. I get up there and find out why, another teenager that is currently confused by a coupon that the cash register isn't accepting. Manager comes up and figures out its because the guy didn't order that item in the first place! Ugh, simple common sense again people. Our waitress did comp us a free kids meal so that earned you a star right there. Maybe it was because the food took so long to come out? Not sure but thank you miss, you were tipped accordingly for that gesture. And saved your employer another 2 star review. Oh yeah I almost forgot, food was great and can't beat the shakes! Try better Steak n Shake

Well, let's just say this will be my first and last time here. This is truly horrific experience I had here. I understand it was late into the night, but if you're open 24/7 then you are open. I ordered a bacon and cheese steak burger plain for my cousin and a Wisconsin butter with no cheese for me. This was how the burger turns out. I guess plain means differently in Cleveland, Tennessee than it does in Texas, but that could have been answered. I ordered no cheese, yet my burger was loaded with cheese. And also, when the server handed me my food, she kept a far distance from the window and had the window slammed in my face. All I wanted to ask for was ketchup. Now I'm not sure if it's because I am different than most people here, but I was sure treated differently!

First time ever to one of these. Should have read the reviews and paid attention to them. We stood at the table waiting for them to clean it - 10 min, moved us to a different table, ok. Now waited 10 more minutes for the waitress to get our drinks and now waited for another 15 minutes for her to come back to get our order. Nothing difficult two burgers and a chili Mac. She apologized for forgetting about us. When the delivered the order, 15 minutes later - they forgot the chili Mac! Then I noticed my burger was to have two patties and it only had one, Cussin-ah, was it that hard. As she didn't charge us for the chili Mac we gave up. We were here for over an hour and for fast food - ha! As this was our first time to any Teak and Shake we may try it again, but not at this location.

But we ate the cold tamales and over cooked chicken because it was late. Family joined us two nights later and they, too, wanted to try Champy's so we agreed, thinking Friday night's experience was just not a good night. Gotta tell you - we should have just set the Benjamin Franklin $100 bill on fire - it would have been more fun to watch it burn and tell a story about it later. Spending $99.00 for burned, hard chicken livers, two pieces of once again overcooked fried chicken, one order of pickles and 6 wings - holy smoke! Terrible food for the second night in a weekend. When we got back to the hotel, the clerk at the front desk and the bartender asked us why in the world we went there - they would NEVER recommend this place. We've been to Champy's MANY times at various locations but listen when I tell you - this one in Cleveland is the worst in the chain. If you need a Champy's "fix" - first get your meal at Aubrey's across the parking lot, then just sit outside on Champy's balcony, try to overlook the pit bulls on chains and order a drink - your night will be much better.

Our waitress left much to be desired.. waited a long time for her to show to the table and take our drink order.. she apologized for the wait. Then we ordered.. waited again for drinks. A longer than expected time for food when comparing to places like longhorn or Texas Roadhouse which are competition. The food was ok. I forgot they season their steak quite heavily.. this steak was basically eating spice blend. Some enjoy that, to me not so much. I want to taste steak not over seasoned subpar steak. Usually the amount of seasoning on my steak indicates covering very low quality. It wasn't priced low vs competition. We had a child's dinner at the table for medium steak tips. They came out raw to medium. I was not comfortable letting it be consumed. Took quite awhile to get waitresses attention.. and the only offer was to put them back on the grill. I'm not a fan given cooks are usually not pleased with a kicked back steak. This dinner took way too long to get the meals and then the bill. I'm sure someone will say why didn't you talk to the manager.. what manager? One did not make themselves known in the establishment and having to return a child's steak should be prompt enough a boss figure to appear.

I told the person at the front that I just need a table for 1, and she said the wait would be about 10 minutes. Thankfully though, I only had to wait 2 minutes and 12 seconds. The booth area I was seated it wasn't dirty or damaged, and it had a very classy look to it. I ordered the "Reese's Peanut Butter & Nutella French Toast", which comes with 2 eggs (I ordered sunny-side up) and sausage (I went with turkey sausage). The food took 17 minutes and 50 seconds to arrive. I note how long it took for transparency purposes only (I had a book with me to read, so I didn't mind the wait). After ordering, I did use the men's bathroom, which is a single bathroom (thankfully, it was vacant). Its not a very big bathroom, but I didn't feel claustrophobic in it, and was well kept. Here's my thoughts on each part of the meal: The eggs were cooked well and tasty The sausages (it came with 2) were not dry and didn't taste like frozen brand named sausages from a grocery story The French toast was great. Very peanut butter-y flavor (which is what I was wanting), and the strawberries were vibrant and sweet. It came with syrup on the side, but honestly, the French toasted was great even without the syrup (though I did put the syrup on after I tasted the toast as is). Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal and experience at the restaurant. Thanks to my server Kayla for being friendly, and thanks to Fisch (I hope I spelled your name right) for making a tasty meal. Now, I had mentioned to Kayla how I was interested in trying out the "American Dream Golden Pancake" meal at some future point, and after I had paid for the meal, a guy came to my table (I'm sorry, I didn't ask for your name) and not only inquired if I was satisfied with my meal but also offered me the "American Dream Golden Pancake" meal to take home for free. This was a highly unexpected goodwill offer which I took up. This meal also comes with 2 eggs (I chose scrambled) and sausage (I chose pork). Now, as with any meal you take to go, its not going to be as good as when you have it in the actual restaurant. Despite that however, I was able to reheat the meal good, and here's my thoughts on the items in the meal: The eggs were flavorful and not rubbery The sausage patty wasn't dry and was tasty The pancake was crispy (I toasted it in my oven), the strawberry and blueberry cremes were great. The strawberries and blueberries were sweet. Golden Yolk was a truly great spot to eat it, and if you're in the Cleveland, TN area, I'd highly recommend coming here. Update 2025-12-09: I came back to Golden Yolk for a lunch a little more than a week before my birthday. This time, my order was a Southwest Power Omelette with a side of Mixed Greens and Cinnamon Raisin Toast (I could've picked Sourdough or Wheat Berry). Everything was great, and since it was close to my birthday, I was given a free birthday biscuit topped with their Blueberry Dream Creme and whipped cream. I'd recommend coming here for birthdays.

My husband got the build-your-own omelet, and it was very well made with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere was lively and a little loud, but it fit the restaurant perfectly with its modern Southern vibe. Pricing was a little high, but nothing crazy in today's market. Will return!
