WHAT'S going on at THIS location???? I love Steak and Shake but this location needs an overhaul. Look at the photos attached. The filth everywhere, the overflowing toilet, the EMPTY soap dispensers in the bathrooms, the overflowing trash cans. The baby booster seats lined with garbage. This is a HEALTH DEPARTURE NIGHTMARE. I LIKE STEAK AND SHAKE. Please clean it up! read more

About 2 weeks ago or so we stopped at this location for lunch. We found it strange that there was no cars in the parking lot and a padlock on the door, everything very dark. So we left and chalked it up to another business being closed due to labor shortages, or who knows. After a few days my husband was driving by with son and did see cars, still no lighted open sign, etc. He was able to go in and purchase food. Today, Saturday around two pm and no lighted open sign, padlock on door, just two cars in the parking lot. We ordered food and sat down. It was very nice for them to have brought the food to our table, employees are very nice. As we started eating we noticed that the fries were way too salty. Also, sometimes ordering on a kiosk was hard to figure things out but we are trying to get used to it. So moral of the story, we love Steak & Shake and that they are frying the fries in beef talo/lard. As an establishment I give them a 4+. This particular location can do well with proper lighting, not having a padlock on the door, having their open sign lit so it's welcoming to the public. There was only one other person there eating. read more

Steak ’n Shake - Cold drink in a hot day! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Brunswick, Ohio

Service is slow and food is lukewarm and sub par They really went down hill no more table service it's all kiosk and takes forever

To begin with, immediately you are met with a sign telling you to use kiosk only, which normally isn't an issue but at steak n shake they used to be more friendly and more approachable. The kiosk being the only option gives a cold uncaring feel and I think going out to eat should be a decent experience. I was ignored by several staff when waiting at the counter to question about ingredients due to allergies. After waiting I just bought what I was familiar with, Chicken Tenders. When our shakes were brought out it was so quick I couldn't even open my mouth before he darted away. When the food came out it was baskets stacked onto each other, which is cross contamination of food and just unsanitary to have the basket touching the food below it. The chicken tenders were smaller than my pointer finger. Honestly it's not worth going back. It's disappointment after disappointment. read more

Went for a quick burger but instead had a sopping wet bun was so gross couldn't eat it and called to talk to a manager but have to wait until the morning lady was so rude about it will never go back asking for a refund read more

I have ordered from here alot it use to be good but now it's terrible. For one I never get my full order whether I got thro the drive thru or order online. I never go in cause I have a 1 year old and a dog I always have with me. So I have to order online or drive thru and they always forget something. Then half the time the food is wrong. The quality has gotten so bad as well. I got my son a grilled cheese sandwich and it was nothing but bread this place has gotten terrible. I will from this point on order from Freddy's instead much better food and I always get my order and much better quality. read more

i normally really like to get a burger at Steak 'n Shake, but today... not so much. I stopped and ordered 2 single steakburgers w/ cheese (one w/ bacon) and asked for just ketchup and mustard. i pulled around to pay and i expect to wait... it's made fresh and i'm not bothered by the wait. what i am bothered by is waiting only to get home and find they messed up my order after i had to repeat it a few times. one burger was close... it had cheese, ketchup, mustard and lettuce. but, so did the other. neither had bacon. both had wilted lettuce i didn't want. i mean c'mon. ugh. i should have just gotten McDonalds like my wife did. read more

The place is just chaos. The last 2 times have been so slow. Tonight I ordered online at 6:30 for a pick up at 7:15. I went into the store at 7:15 and waited 45 minutes for my order. They left off the drink. I got it myself. I was in a large crowd of customers waiting for their orders. Dirty tables, in-store customers waiting a long time for food. Cars wrapped around the building. Stay away! read more

We ordered three hamburgers and two milkshakes. I need to note there were only two other families in the restaurant at the time. Waited 25 minutes for the hamburgers and an extra 10 minutes for the shakes. One of the shakes was wrong, so I asked to get it made correctly. When it never came, I went back up and that was when they, asked me what was wrong with my shake. They didn't bother to make a new shake when I said I got the wrong one. Service was terrible. Food quality was good when we finally got it. read more

I went here and I got a double bacon cheeseburger one of the best meals coming from a fast food restaurant I've ever had staff was amazing. Food didn't take too long and love the inside so vintage.. read more

Ordered through Uber eats. The burger, fries and Oreo shake were great!!!! I picked it up within 20 minutes of ordering online. Fast!

The reason why I am marking this typical fast joint with 4 stars intead of the normal 3 is because the burgers are that good. This is not to say that they have a varied menu (they don't) or that the drive-thru is fast (it isn't) but for what you get, it is all kinds of worth it. A burger and frie4d will run you about 5 bucks or less and it tastes good. For that kind of mulah, I really can't complain. I have not been inside, so I do not know how clean the facility is. the employees are pleasant and polite though. read more

Ok- so this was a pretty bad establishment for a long time. Things shut down during Covid then sort of reopened, but sorta not...it was weird. So I think they are fully opened now, along with dine in option. We went inside, ordered from the kiosk, sat down in a clean environment, waited maybe 8 minutes, our order was announced to be picked up. Everything looked great. It was really good! Burgers were perfectly cooked, fries were crispy, bun was soft and warm, all items exactly as ordered. The milkshakes were delicious and the self serve pop machine is a big plus. As we were finishing up a very polite young man who prepared our meals came out to make sure we were satisfied. He clearly took pride in what he was doing and was very excited to hear our praise. Nice to have you back in the neighborhood Steak n Shake! We will be see you again soon. read more

Thank you so much for the food Mathew! Met this guy named Mathew at the front counter he was very courteous and a great guy. Thank you for your service! read more

This place is hilariously bad. The food is half decent of course for a fast food place because they have killer milkshakes and okay burgers and fries, but the service here is a joke. I've had friends work here and I can tell nobody cares if they lose their job here. It's dope cause they are open 24/7 and you can be high or drunk here and I'm sure most people here are doing more than that in Brunswick Ohio lmaooo but overall it's a dope place to go if your drunk at 4am. I've been here when literally ONE person was working the whole restaurant and it was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my entire existence. Literally nobody was there except one clueless read more

Traveled from a different city to get this tonight. We checked their hours before leaving and it said open until 10pm. We got there just after 9om to find a dark restaurant. They could benefit from fixing the hours listed online, or if it was unplanned, posting a sign on the door. read more

Steak ’n Shake - Location closed during "open" hours - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Brunswick, Ohio

This place always seems under staffed. The only reason my friends and I still go here is because it's cheap and open late. The whole place just feels kind of sticky and unclean. They mess up orders often, my most recent trip I had to return my food twice before it was right. The wait time/service speed is unbelievably slow! read more

I thought after closing and reopening with no dinning room this store would have improved. I'm still in the drive through haven't even placed my order I've been here for 17 minutes now. read more

Food is decent, but usually always squished and messed up in the drive-thru bags. They fill their cups with mainly ice and no drink. Milkshakes tastes good sometimes they are salty in taste or the consistency is off. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Went through the drive thru, got attitude from the cashier kid when I ordered. Pulled around and the kid didn't take my coupon, I gave him my card and he gave it back and asked for it again. I'm pretty sure we got double charged. Then he forgot my milkshake after I pulled away. I walked back up to the window and asked for it and he was a total smarta**. Total time was about 20 minutes. Definitely will never be coming back here again. Service is terrible. Amazed how they are still in business. A bunch of dumba**es work here. (Funny thing was, the people in the car behind us had trouble with their order as well) read more

UPDATE I am at SNS now and something is very wrong. I've had to send back my meal twice so far. The manager looks and is acting high and the other manager is too busy making and serving her family to my left. The family manager just came by and said she was sorry and took it off my bill then served her family at the same time. Wow. Never again will I come back. Sonic is next door and way better than this. I have to write this review. I am/was regular at SnS in Brunswick, but something happened recently with the staff that has caused me to write this review. They are unkempt, rude, ignorant to the menu and quite frankly act like a bunch of school girls in the hall. I love the garlic double burger there but without the garlic spread. So in other words a burger with the garlic salt on top of the bun. So that's what I ordered. My girlfriend ordered a Frisco and it was fairly slow that evening. Our waitress took the order and came back with the food some few minutes later and that's when I realized that it had the garlic sauce on it. I asked her about it and she became flustered. I was not rude, just asked her what it was as I normally get it the way I described above. She then, without saying another word took my plate and went in the back. She came back 2 minutes later with a bun and two plain patties. I started to ask her a question about it, but then just asked her for a slice of cheese and the manager. She went over to the grill person where everyone gathered to hear her speak. Then watched as the manager who was a part of the group, a person I'd never seen before, came over and told us that she, the waitress, was new and didn't understand the menu. The manager, who was pregnant, told us that she doesn't really care for the meat quality anyway and won't eat there. Maybe she said that, because we didn't ask anything close to anything like that, because she was pregnant and I've heard of people saying certain foods can be off putting when pregnant, but the whole experience was surreal! We were both baffled and now clearly frustrated. We ate the fries and left. Waste of $$ and time. Steak and Shake has lost our business. When and if they ever decide to hire people that actually read there own menu or eat there own food then we may consider going back. Until then, I'll go elsewhere to spend my hard earned money! read more

This restaurant has gone downhill ever since they stopped having a manager on site. If they are not Out of food when you order you have to wait to be seated and have your order taken, then wait for your food to arrive. Sometimes arrives lukewarm. Today we went there for breakfast and with 2 people working, there were dirty dishes on the tables and food & trash all over the floor. Appearance is everything! This was not what we wanted to see in a place where we would be paying for food. No idea what the kitchen looked like. We didn't stay for the waitress to take our order. Walked out, not coming back. read more

Oh how I love thee. You really can't get better than this. It's not gourmet, but it's not fast food either. I usually order two meals because I can never decide what to get. Chili three way (amazing sauce they drizzle on top) or steak burger? This past time I decided to go out on a limb and get one of their specials, jalapeno burger. It was a-ma-zing! Don't for the shakes and of course cheese on the fries. I'm talking cheese sauce here. read more

SLOW...SLOOWW...SLOOOOOOOW! Went there 2 months ago and the food was the Normal S'nShake good- but the service SLOW! Thought it might have been and off day so on a Sat, we decided to go again but the same thing happened- waited 35 min for good and this was the case EVERYONE in the dining area. Waitresses stayed behind the pop machine or in the back to avoid people complaining, tables next to us were left dirty the whole time we were there- Major negative Energy in the place. We would have left but the waitresses never came back to the table so we could at least pay for our drinks. Food was warm and just OK. We just moved to the area so we're bummed that this is 'our' S'nShake. Hope things change in the future. read more

Oh boy. They tried. They really did. As a former server, some tips: Consolidate. Ask the whole table if there is something you need before you go back to the kitchen. The shake machine can't be as backed up as 20+ minutes per shake. As a cook, do multiple orders at the same time. Don't have the hostess cook. Apologize if the order is wrong. Pre-bus. And above all fake it till you make it.... Even if it is a rough night try to make someone's day rather than following suit with the rest of the staff looking like you are in the seventh circle of hell. It's burgers and shakes. Have fun with it. read more

20 minuets later still waiting in drive through for a cheeseburger and fries. Not cool. They keep wandering around and staring at us too.

Went in for lunch 1:30 Saturday December first walked in waiting to be seated manager behind the counter says half hour for food not hello what a greeting so I asked why because a lot more than half of the tables were empty she says waiting for food so I left .very bad management won't be back to this location. read more

My experience was a lot different from the other people who have posted reviews. I stopped at this location because it was off I-71. Went through the drive-thru, placed my order, and then paid. I figured it was Steak 'n Shake and it would be a few minutes before my food was ready. So I get out of the car so I can get the pills I have to take with dinner out of the trunk. To my surprise my food was ready in the 60 seconds it took to do this. Everything was good. read more

Got carry out from here on a road trip back from Cleveland. Had to wait 5 minutes after our burgers came out to receive our milkshakes... Manager fixed it but the server should have cared more since I had already tipped her on the to go order when I ordered. read more

This by far is the worst restaurant to get service and to check out of .I complain to the manager and she didn't do anything ,didn't even take anything off my bill .We had to wait for our cheese for our fries we had to wait for pickles which we never got and I waited there 15 minutes to check out .they need to step up their game!!!!!!! read more

To be honest this review is strictly for night time, I am not consistently here for day time hours. There is nothing wrong at all with the food. If you want good food this is a decent stop for late at night especially with the price, but that is all that makes me keep coming here. Service is garbage, and that's being nice. Rude servers, rude drive through workers, slow, not clean, when you walk in it feels like you are more of a burden to them than a customer. Drive though is pathetic. Now, saying this, a few of the waitresses are gems and deserve more pay, sometimes I see one waitress working 40x harder and better than the other. Worst is waiting to pay. It took me no lie 20-30 min to have someone cash me out on the register. It is consistently like that. If you want a 20-30 min meal, go drive through, not the place if you are in a hurry. read more

I love Steak 'n Shake but this location feels like stress, chaos, and confusion every visit. There's always a substantial wait and I would've rated this place higher if the people were friendly. The manager treats the employees terribly and you can hear the misery in the manager's voice with every interaction. A place where people aren't making much you have to bank on the culture to maintain good people. Bring someone new in and this place will be a big pay off. If you are considering eating here... be prepared to wait. Be prepared for the staff to mess up your order. And laugh at the shenanigans. read more

i have never had a problem with this steak 'n shake til today. i went in with 2 of my friends around 9 and we were seated pretty quickly. we sat there for 20 minutes before the waitress approached us. we ordered 3 shakes and a side of fries. as were sitting we see couples coming in and being seated right away and having their orders taken. these people had their actual meals and shakes out way before we did and they already paid and left before we got our food. we finally got our food 45 minutes later. the shakes were completely melted. and the fries weren't even out. i asked for a new shake because it's melted and the waitress kindly did so. she also took it off my bill but still, 45 minutes for a melted shake? when we were done we went to check out and the lady checking us out completely just ignored us and started yelling and laughing so loud with her friend. it was absolutely ridiculous. i've never wanted to get out of a restaurant so fast. definitely will travel farther to a different location than ever come to this one again. read more
