Assigned a room on the 10th floor and glass elevators moved quickly. Hotel rooms all face inside; similar to a Embassy Suites. The room was clean and spacious but the toilet has a foot flush pedal which was a little weird. Hotel is also undergoing some renovations so perhaps it will be different in the upcoming year. This was a nice conference venue but not too much else. It's pretty far from downtown (1+ hour in traffic, 25 min without). There isn't a ton of casual seating space like I've seen in other Hyatts but there is some general spaces and coffee shop market with tables. Didn't spend much time in the bar area but it's pretty central and seemed like it was pretty active there every night.

I talked to Toni through email and phone, and got set up before we planned on coming and worked with Jeremy the day we arrived until the end of the duration of our stay. Jeremy did a fantastic job of making us feel welcomed and gave great customer service to my family and I when we needed to book more rooms to accommodate our guests. He had put the hotel favor bags I made in each room and even passed them out as guests arrived to check in. I thought that was a thoughtful thing to do and wanted to give him a shout out for his great work. I didn't get to use the pool, unfortunately, and so I can't say how that was, and I'm not sure how the breakfast was either since I didn't go down any of the days I was there, although I heard from our guests that it wasn't as nice as other holiday inn expresses. The rooms were sufficient and clean for our family, although there could have been some cosmetic fixes, like the doors had peeling wood, the doorknob on the bathroom had a problem and the ac would randomly not work. With these fixes, this hotel can become even better.

When walking through the room from the outer room into the bedroom, there is a difference in flooring in between. That flooring it is extremely slick if the AC is on. The shower in the room we stayed in was also extremely slick. I felt like I was stuck on one side or the others I did not want to fall. I can't imagine someone who has any sort of mobility issues being able to get through that without possibly hurting themselves. We did bring this up to the manager and she told us that if we had something to put down in the shower that would help give it some grip we could do this. She did not seem very interested that we would like to be able to use the shower without fear falling. we did throw towel down in the shower just to try to be able to take a shower after a long day. It was also very frustrating to go up to the front desk cause we are leaving and ask about a room rate for a stay we have in Chicago. He was unable to pull up the rates for me when I asked. It just seemed like some things they could do and somethings they could not. A fitness center requires consistent attention to cleanliness, and the inability to resolve such a simple request was frustrating. While the property has positives, the lack of follow-through from staff on a hygiene-related concern negatively impacted my stay. I hope management improves its process for monitoring and maintaining the fitness center for future guests.

Upon arriving in my first room, I found hair wrapped around the shower area. I brought it to the staff's attention, and to their credit, they responded promptly and moved me to another room. Unfortunately, the second room was even more concerning. While I was in bed, a small roach crawled on my arm. Later, I found what appeared to be a bed bug nymph on the blankets. I have attached photos for reference. I appreciate that the staff was responsive to my initial concern, but encountering cleanliness issues in one room and then possible pests in the replacement room is unacceptable. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable with the cleanliness or sanitation of the accommodations. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and thoroughly inspects the affected rooms. My wife and I were in town for our annual June trip to Chicago, and have used this hotel multiple times now. We also used points for my brother and his son's shorter stay. It averaged about 5,000 points (worth about $50) per night, which is about as good as you can get these days. Pluses: -- It's a Hyatt House, which means meant for longer stays. All rooms has a kitchenette, with electric cook tops (along with full set of pots and pans, plates, and utensils), apartment size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, sink. This allowed us to eat-in one night, and could clean up after ourselves. There is also a living area with decent TV, with a sofa for extra space. The AC/heating worked well from a wall mounted thermostat. -- they introduced an omelet station for breakfast (weekdays only), which I took advantage of twice during our stay. A lot of effort was made in preparing the various ingredients (onions, green peppers, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, bacon crumbles, cheese, sausage). It was the best tasting omelet I've ever had a complementary hotel breakfast buffet. They also have the newer auto pancake machines (which we first saw at a Holiday Inn, earlier this month). And for whatever reason, the bagels provided tasted really good. -- We worked with Antonio at the front desk, and he really is great. He actually remembered us from one year ago, and tried his best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Minuses: -- definitely showing it's age, especially in its rooms. Built in 1999, it underwent a renovation in 2015 (making the common spaces really nice), but the rooms not so much. Both rooms had carpet and it had major stains, to the point of the walking areas not feeling 'clean' and having to use sandals to walk around in our room. -- double beds in rooms are rare here. -- as before, the shower pressure is not good. -- the toilet had a leaky valve, resulting in it refilling it's tank abruptly...not a big deal except it would wake us up since it made the noise as if the toilet was being flushed.

Truly wonderful stay in a very intense 3 days of conference.

I feel I should mention that our room was almost perfect. We had an ant issue. While we were in our room, a large group of ants invaded our room. We were at level 3. They mostly attacked my open coke pop can and they crawled all over my wife while she was sleeping. I told the front counter and they gave us a replacement room, but the replacement room had cigar smells. It was a handicap room, but the person before us clearly was smoking a lot. Extremely disappointing experience and a serious failure in communication and guest privacy…read more When I checked in, no one told me there was any construction happening at the hotel. After getting to my room, I heard constant knocking and construction noise for hours, so I called the front desk myself to ask what was going on. They told me there was construction and said it should last "just an hour." It did not last an hour. The noise continued for around five hours. More importantly, no one ever told me that the construction would move to my floor or directly affect my room. What was even worse is that the hotel apparently did not tell the workers that someone had already checked into my room. I was sleeping when a worker entered my room without knocking or asking permission. This was completely unacceptable and a serious privacy and security concern. Even after I told the workers that I was exhausted and had been sleeping, they still insisted on continuing the work. If the hotel had simply been transparent at check-in, I could have requested a different room or made a different decision about my stay. Instead, I was not informed about the construction, was given inaccurate information about how long it would last, was never told it would affect my floor and room, and then had a worker enter my occupied room while I was sleeping. This is far beyond normal construction inconvenience. The lack of communication, coordination, and respect for guest privacy was unacceptable.

I also really appreciated how responsive the hotel staff was through the app. I requested two first-floor rooms if possible because we don't use elevators, and with three people, a cat, and a lot of luggage, having someone take the elevator would have been difficult for us. They responded right away and let me know they were working on the request, which I deeply appreciated. I also loved the amount of storage and closet space. There was plenty of room to keep everything organized, and the parking was convenient and easy to use. Overall, I had a very good experience and would definitely stay here again!
