The benefits of membership…read moreare numerous - first and foremost is the service and staffing; think of the level of personalized service that you would find at The Four Seasons if you were a regular guest for extended periods. Second is the dining - five star, some of the finest cuisine in the north east with their local celebrity chef Gary Comella. The wine list to pair with dinner is celebrated up and down New England, and their selection of single malts rivals any cigar bar in the region. Next, in equal parts, are the house itself, it's history, it's private rooms, the gym and squash courts, the beautiful copper bar, and the regular functions. The University Club is by far the most socially active club in the City and it shows with its members pride and regular use of the facilities. Bully for the management through the years, they have maintained over 120 years of rich history and exemplary service to a membership made up of successful professionals in all fields of practice.

Lately I've noticed some places are just super loud and I can barely hear myself or the person across from me. I could hold a conversation here even with the music and that was lovely. Our waiter Bennett was the absolute best. Knowledgeable about the menu, super attentive and funny as hell. Tip him well if he ends up being your server! We tried some cocktails on the menu (I wish I could remember the names) and really enjoyed them. Bennett has the bartender make up this passion for tequila cocktail that was delicious! Highly recommend this bar, it's just a great vibe with good drinks that are reasonably priced.

The bar will stay open while your event goes on, thus, two doors, good. Patrons of the bar won't bother you, and if you want a soda, it's cheap ;) Only thing that is a bummer, as soon as you walk out of the hall into the space between the bar and the hall, you will smell alcohol. The chairs and tables aren't exactly spotless, so you may want to bring your own tablecloth.

Out of all the posts and legions to rent halls from this is one of the greatest values. Not alot if memorabilia on the wall to cover. It's super big and the staff is no e and really doesn't bother u at all. We could bring all our own food and drinks. This party was great, we covered the place head to ties with balloons and drapes of colorful plastic tables cloths and not one peep. As long as you clean up after, they don't bother you. I thought I would pass this along I know halls are expensive and sometimes are so tough to decorate! Of also lots if parking! The bar does have some interesting patrons but they did not interfere with us at all!

We were somewhat unsure as country club food is typically not swell but this was a great dinner. It is clear that the chef (understand she is a J&W grad?) is at the top of her game. This dinner could compete with many of the fine dining spots we like as Chanterelle or New Rivers. Second - the service was excellent. We started with 2 of their signature G&Ts which were different and good (and only $12 compared to paying $16, $18, ... at many spots). It was a prix fixe dinner - 3 courses - for $40! Starters were crudo and celeriac soup; mains were chorizo-crusted scallops and mackerel, and desserts were panna cotta and chocolate cheesecake. All were tasty, well executed, and beautifully presented. Right size portions. So if you can snag a reservation before the end of Restaurant Weeks (Jan. 20), do so.

The atmosphere was wonderful--- and the fireplace was a great addition on this rainy cold night. So despite the great dinner experience 4 stars because: 1. Not open to the public so we can never return unless they have a special event. 2. Overpriced Martinis. My biggest pet peeve. $15 for a tiny martini and it had too much vermouth. 3. My dish was a little cold.
