We had never been to anything like this or even really heard that much about it so we were interested to see what it was. WaterFire started about 30 years ago as an art installation that was meant to bring more people to the area and it definitely works. They light the braziers along the rivers, pipe beautiful music through the air and have volunteers on boats going from spot to spot, tending the flames and refilling the wood. There are tons of people there. Just walking and enjoying being outside and being together. The vibe is so relaxed and so peaceful but yet busy and exciting at the same time. It's kind of hard to describe unless you see it for yourself. We headed out around dusk when there was still light in the sky and it was a little chilly but I soon forgot about that. Words can't really express how you're just sort of drawn into the piece and beauty of this whole thing. I feel like this review can't even do it justice. We walked around for over an hour but our dog did start to get cold even though we had her in her jacket, so we headed back to where we were staying for a little while. Once it was dark and we were all warmed up, we headed out again because it was just so enjoyable to be there that we really wanted to come back. The second time we wandered through the street fair area and looked at some of the tables and street vendors. I got a really cool ring that was made out of a an old ornate spoon. There were also food vendors but everything was pretty busy so we ended up getting food on the way back to our hotel. There were families and groups of friends and couples, all just soaking in the magic and ambiance and ultimately we drifted back towards the water again because that is where the real magic is. We sat for a long time watching people float by in gondolas and watching the volunteers slowly push the boats through the canals, adding wood to the flames causing them to rise up. Everyone was friendly and in a good mood and strangers were chatting with each other. There was a real sense of community and peace. This was honestly one of the most romantic evenings I've had with my husband in a long time as well. We nuzzled noses and shared a few kisses to the music and the flame. If you are anywhere near Providence during WaterFire, don't even think about it just go. It's totally free! You don't need tickets or even to plan really. You can just enjoy the fire light and the music and being together in a beautiful place. It's absolutely unforgettable.

One of the Chinese dragon boats from the Pawtucket Dragon Races made an appearance as well. The event was very well attended, with many areas of the Riverwalk at capacity during peak times. Foot traffic jams made it difficult to navigate freely around the basin area. Lots of vendors and food trucks located around the RISD campus gave the event an even more festive flair. A great way to bring downtown Providence alive !

During this time, the school did not have hot water or hand sanitizer at the ready. You are drawing other students, family, and friends blood. Without properly being able to wash your hands. The day after we finished classes the school was closed because employees got sick from contaminated building. Classes should have started back up on November 11 - December 18. However, the school just opened back up today, December 11. If a student like me could not conform to this change in their schedule, you have to pay a $100 cancelation fee. Because they ordered books and uniform. The school was contaminated nobody could go in the building why should these students want these books and uniforms. But for those still choosing to go they do give extra 5 bonus points if you leave a good review.

I truly did not want to…read moreshare such a review and spent the better part of two months trying to come to an acceptable resolution but have since been ghosted by the management. I do not want anyone else to have the same experiences that I have had or at the very least want people to be able to make an informed decision. I want to start by saying that I obtained my EMT-B certification through an online program and had a wonderful experience. I learn very well in a self-paced program and had hopes that the American Safety Programs class would be similar. The first issue I had with them is poor communication. I would send my instructor emails with clarifying questions and wouldn't receive a response for an extended period. When attempting to communicate with management regarding my grievances, it would take weeks and several emails to get a response. I also had the experience of having a scheduled phone meeting with the CEO and he would miss it altogether. The worst part of my experience however was choosing this program based on the information I was told, only to find out that was not correct. When looking into the program, I was told that the didactic was to be completed online, then a 3-5-day period was scheduled for you to come to their location in Rhode Island for skills training and testing after which the patient contacts could be done at my home agency. I worked diligently to complete my didactic portion finishing it with a final grade of 96. I will digress here to say that there were approximately 14 quizzes covering EKGs and Medications that had no accompanying bookwork. When asked about this, and finally receiving a response, I was told the material would be added within the next 4 days. After never receiving the material, I ended up teaching myself the information. After completing all this work and contacting the management to work on scheduling my time in RI, it was again explained to me that the patient contacts could be completed in my home state (VA). I unfortunately learned from my agency that is against VA OEMS regulations as to practice as a student in VA, you must be in a VA program. When I questioned ASP management about this, their answer for me was to just come to Rhode Island for the patient contacts. As I'm sure you can appreciate, this is not feasible. Had I known this beforehand, I would have never enrolled in the program. I have lost 6 months of all my hard work, and $2100 in course fees paid to ASP. I reached out to them asking for a refund as, in my opinion, they sold me a product that they could not deliver. I was finally told that I could receive a pro-rated refund that amounted to less than half of the course fee. When I reached back out explaining that I didn't feel that was adequate, as well as the math they used to calculate the refund was incorrect, I have now not received an email response in 20 days.
