Bugs!

Beware! Paid $199 for 2 nights. The rooms looked good online, so we booked. On arrival the rooms did look as pictured, but our stay was terrible! When we realized the heat wasn't working inside our room, we went to the office. He informed us that none of the rooms in that part of the hotel have heat. He suggested that we reset the unit, but be careful to do it correctly or you could get zapped. Reset did not work. He said they had space heaters for the rooms with this problem, but all of them were in use at the time. We asked to switch rooms to one that had heat and he said that was not possible. My whole family, including my 2 young children froze on the first night. They put us in a room with no heat and no blankets. Just beds with a single sheet and very thin bed cover. We left the next day only to return and discover that we had been locked out of our room. Went to the office to get that fixed. When we got back into the room we found that they had finally given us a space heater so that my children didn't freeze. Thought night 2 would be better, but it only got worse. While sitting in the chair I noticed that little bugs were crawling all over the dresser. Then after looking around we saw that they were also inside the bathroom sink, the microwave, the shower walls, and the bedroom walls around our headboards. By the time we woke up we realized the power was now out, which means the space heater also does not work. A hotel room with no power! We couldn't even see enough to pack our things! Had to use our phone lights for everything. I went to the office and Rosie the office clerk tried to help us, but couldn't get the power back on. I told her that this was unacceptable and we need to fix this. She contacted the owner and he would only refund $25, was very rude, and hung up on her. This was unlike any hotel experience I've ever had! I've stayed in great hotels as well as cheap ones. This was definitely a bottom of the barrel experience. If you plan to stay, pack accordingly. Bring your own blankets, flashlights, and bug spray. You will need it. Do not bother to speak to the owner about anything because all he is interested in is your money. Unbelievable that rooms with no heat and a bug infestation are even being rented out! I have never left a negative review before, but there is a first time for everything. The only plus side to this place is there is a very nice little restaurant called Mike's grill on the same property, but owned by different people. The food was GREAT and the staff was AMAZING!

This Place sucks, it's a bed and cold air. BUT, i had roaches and the sweet lady at the front desk was nice enough to move me even though the owner instructs them not to move the customer. I had to threaten to leave to get moved to 214 which is a decent room. Cold air and no bugs. If u need a cheap place and this is the only option i would ask the girls for the 214 building.

Trash under nightstand

This Place is absolutely disgusting. Saw 2 roaches within first minute of walking in room. Moved night stand to plug in charger and saw this... don't stay here if you can heLp it

Booked a 3-night stay. Price is competitive and more surprises: free companion with many many many bedbugs, I am able to catch some of them, definitely been there for a long time telling from the poops around them. Talked to the owner, and he refused to change a room for me said it is their policy, but did offer a refund for the price I paid. He will not pay for anything else except a 2 dollar to use their dryer. And I can't stay for the rest of the booking because I am refunded and the room needs to be cleaned the next morning. He suggested to me to look for another place to stay. He must hate his competitors very much. I suggest anyone who book this hotel think twice as this is the first time I got bitten by bedbugs in travel for the last 30 years.

My Airbnb cancelled upon arrival in Florida so I was left to find lodging same day last minute for 4 nights. We had plans to go to Legoland for a couple days so staying in winter haven was the plan. Arriving at the hotel, it was 9pm, there were 2 people working, they were both speaking Spanish helping one person. There were 3 of us in line. After about 10 minutes it appears to be my turn. I check and ask if there is a double queen available. She said not today but she could check tomorrow. Fine. We wake up to a bug infestation - really fast moving ants that kindof look like spiders. We pack up, call the front desk, they say they will move us. We were gone for the day and when we return,we have a new king room. Mind you, we are still looking for a double queen. It's still not available, maybe tomorrow. Ok... Day 3, we call to see if we can get a double queen for the remaining 2 nights. This person says no, you've already moved rooms once, so no. Really? We moved rooms because YOU have bugs. F*^% you. The pool has a ton of hair on the floor. The rooms aren't very clean. The chaise lounge has stains all over it. One of the two elevators is out of service. The location is good because there are stores and places to eat within walking distance. There's a dollar store in case you forgot something. Thankfully, I will never return to this part of the country so I never have to see any of these things again.

We had a king room, which was nicely furnished, had lots of surface space for luggage, a desk and comfortable chair, an easy chair, and 2 ottomans. There was a floor safe inside the armoire. The bed was comfortable and there were choices of firm or soft pillows. Each of the nightstands had outlets, and there were wall-mounted sconces above the nightstands. The room and bathroom were very clean. Toiletries were Dove brand. Breakfast was better than at many similar hotels. There were more choices of hot items (for example, turkey sausage and pork sausage), and the cinnamon rolls were wonderful. The coffee was dispensed from Costa machines that are always available in the lobby, and it was actually good. Both decaf and regular coffee were available and ground freshly each time. The person taking care of the breakfast area was very diligent in keeping it clean and well stocked. There was a reasonably-priced guest laundry on the 2nd floor. Quarters are needed, and these and detergent are available in the lobby. My only complaints are that the self- closing room doors were quite loud, the bed was high (be careful getting out!), and our room was on the first floor adjacent to the pool. The lighting at the pool was on all night and impossible to completely block out with the curtains. Also, hot water supply was lacking between about 7-7:30 am both days of our stay. All in all, we had a good stay and would consider returning if in the area again.

The staff was very accommodating when I booked our reservations; we secured the block rate as well as connecting rooms with an early check-in. Despite many of these requests, the staff was helpful to fulfill my requests and with courteous disposition. There is plenty of parking on site. The hotel is central downtown, and a short drive from the heart of Lakeland. They offer complementary breakfast throughout the week. There is a store where you can buy general items throughout your stay. Everything looks newly built, and most importantly, clean. The front desk staff was very courteous and responsive during our stay. During late night hours, you cannot enter the building without a room key, so I felt safe overnight. I requested connecting rooms for my family and my parents, who were looking after our baby while we were at the wedding. Our room was a king suite, with an extra large bed, standing shower, toilet, and living room with pull-out couch. My parents' room was handicap accessible with a roll-in shower, extra large toilet area, with double beds and a pull-out couch. Both rooms were clean and spacious. The living room area was large enough to set up our pack-n-play crib for baby. The SpringHill Suites by Marriott is a clean and spacious hotel to book your stay in Lakeland. We enjoyed our stay and its central location. I recommend for your next trip to Lakeland!

I've had a residence in Florida for 25 years and never knew of the history in central Florida. Look up Hernando de Soto who camped here in the 1500s. Crazy. They found Megalodon teeth on site when mining for phosphates that is now exhibited in the lobby. Resort Hotel is spectacular. The rooms are fantastic - the floor to ceiling wood louver doors are out of bounds. I had a large studio suite overlooking the pool facing west. The architect deserves an award. The roof deck has two separate bar options "gaming" or "sophisticated" lounging. Cigars welcome on the decks and they sell great brands if you forgot to plan ahead. Golf. Review - Lakeland, FL (3855 Don Emerson Dr.)…read more I stay in hotels constantly for work and typically choose brands like Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, and similar business-class properties. This is not a hotel I would normally book, but I gave it a chance. First, credit where it's due: Drew at the front desk was excellent. Friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful during check-in. He did a great job and represents the hotel well. One of the housekeepers I interacted with was also very kind. That said, the property itself is clearly worn and not very clean. There was dirt on the floors in the elevator and hallways, the walls are scuffed and dirty, and the room itself was just okay at best. You can hear people clearly through the walls, and because of the courtyard layout, noise carries easily. There was a party nearby that was impossible to ignore. I was still prepared to stay a couple of nights and deal with it. My colleague was scheduled to remain here for roughly nine weeks for a project, so we were willing to tolerate the condition for convenience. The problem came when our client left early and postponed the project until Monday, forcing me to return to the hotel mid-day and request an early checkout. The front desk staff tried to help, but the General Manager refused to come out and speak to me, choosing instead to stay behind closed doors and deny any flexibility. Charging a full additional night--not a half day, but a full night--under these circumstances is incredibly shortsighted, especially for a frequent traveler with elite status. A half-day charge would have been reasonable. Waiving the charge entirely would have been smart business. Instead, that decision caused us to move our entire team to the Hilton Garden Inn next door, which is cleaner, quieter, competitively priced, and includes breakfast. Congratulations--you may have made about $100 today, but you lost thousands of dollars in future business. I was willing to put up with the condition of the hotel for a short stay, but poor leadership and rigid, guest-unfriendly policies are a dealbreaker. Refusing to even meet a loyal guest face-to-face is unprofessional and frankly rude. In summary: * Staff like Drew are excellent * The property is rundown and noisy * Cleanliness needs improvement * Management is inflexible and shortsighted I would not recommend this hotel, and I will not return. Travelers who value cleanliness, reasonable service recovery, and professional leadership should look elsewhere. FYI, right next-door there's a Hilton Garden Inn. It's nice gorgeous and it has conference rooms and breakfast so we just decided to move there for better quality but I'm glad that GM made an extra hundred dollars. Congratulations.
