Neat little (decommissioned) hydroelectric station in the Maple Ridge area.
Parking is available in the nice large lots next to the building.
The film at the beginning is super cheesy and low budget, and really needs to be redone. Seriously cringeworthy. Once one is done suffering through that, the tour continues through a couple of rooms with science-type exhibits (great for kids). Then it's onwards to the powerhouse.
The powerhouse is filled with cool exhibits, such as the vintage electrical equipment and generators. Personally I always get a kick out of looking at such stuff, as there's a level of workmanship that simply isn't seen in modern equipment. The place takes maybe 1h to browse through, and at the end there's a gift shop.
Definitely worth checking out if one hasn't been to a generating station before. read more
