It is a jail and I would never want to go there again, that being said the experience was so…read moreprofound I felt I needed to write about it somehow and the officer in release had made a joke about leaving a review so here is a review for what it is worth. Had a bit of a tiff with the missus and ended up in jail, not my best moment. I run a few fairly successful business and this was my first time ever having legal trouble, much less time in jail. Anyways most of the staff seem to be trying to do their best but are often very young and inexperienced or just unprofessional. It seems most of the staff fits in these categories but man when you do find a more seasoned knowledgeable officer it's a night and day difference because the officer doing release was on point. The officer taking care of my release group was obviously overworked, he even admitted they were a little short that day but told us not to worry and he would have us out as quick as he could. Definitely knew his stuff, was answering most questions before we even finish asking them quickly and precisely. You could tell he knew what he was doing and was well versed in handling anything that was thrown his way it seemed. Two of the guy's in our group wanted to fight each other, one of them was obviously mental handicapped in some way or just crazy. I was worried what was gonna happen or if I would even get out before they started swinging but this officer just seemed to know exactly how to be disarming and intimidating all at the same time. Imagine this officer was a pretty big dude, he looked tough had a beard with a bald head these 2 guys didn't seem to care though. I thought for sure they were gonna start swinging as they started to get in each others face but the officer barks at them to knock it off. Then somehow without missing a beat swings both their attention's away from each other with the dumbest dad joke you have ever heard while keeping a straight face. It was crazy he then kept them distracted the whole time cracking off dumb jokes and comments while processing us through release like nothing happened, as if he had done it a thousand times. Completely defused the situation without lifting a finger, I wish I had gotten his name but I was so caught up in the moment I was out the door before I had the thought. As for the rest of the jail the medical care is seems to suffer from staffing as well but it seemed ok at least for major concerns. The food however is definitely not meeting any nutritional guideline, just cheap carbs and some very little proteins that may not be actually meat. Short term survivable but long term it has to contribute to health issues. Housing was not the cleanest and the company didn't make you feel to safe either but it is jail. The overall process is very slow but that seems to be due to staffing mostly from what I saw. Overall I would have said 2 stars at most but the release guy had me impressed which is why I am leaving a review in the first place. I don't know how they are hiring staff, must pay like crap or lack incentives but if they can get more like him it would help a lot.

Good place to work, but as an RN remember that in 12 hrs you won't be able to pee, eat or drink…read more You will run your butt off all day every day. The CO's, although mostly very nice, aren't usually in a hurry to help you during med pass especially in Pod 1, because they are busy with their feet up on the desk chatting it up with each other while you don't have time to complete the million other tasks you have to do. All in all a good place to work to obtain good party stories.

For starters, no pillows -_- The toilet is next to your head when you go to sleep on your cold metal mattress. The walls, though made of concrete are paper thin. You hear all the other guests every movement! and pray they don't snore. If you do manage to fall asleep don't worry, the rude staff will come by every half hour through the night and wake you up asking "are your okay?" which they don't actually care, what they're actually asking is "are you alive?" Soon as you move to say "well no thanks for asking, can I have a pillow?" they are long gone. Honestly if I had to characterize the staff's attitude I would say they treat you as if you're in some kind of jail. The food comes 3 times a day and is actually impressive, you would have to try hard to engineer food this bad. At 27 cents a trey I guess maybe I'm expecting too much? My recommendation is to get moved into Pod 3 which is the workers pod. Take a job in the kitchen and spend your 10 hour days very carefully stealing real food. It's under lock and key but they unlock it at certain times. Unlimited Milk and cookie dough, steak fajitas, real fruit like apples and oranges! And in Pod 3 you can shower everyday instead of 3 times a week plus you can work time off your stay. If you get caught taking food though you will get thrown into Pod 2 with the Murderers and other creepy people so don't get caught, cameras everywhere All said there is no hope for this place, just stay away from the fake gangsters (and the real ones). Anyone tells you they are there for an OWI is probably a cho-mo. Find normal people to hangout with and it's not that bad. Workout, read, stay sharp. Whatever you do, don't fight, even defending yourself lands you 6months, no exceptions. The CO's wont break it up either until a lieutenant shows up with a taser so you have about 20 to 35 seconds to not get your head smashed on the corner of a metal table...And don't be disillusioned that because you're in Waukesha people wont shatter your face with a cribbage board. If you do decide to book a vacation here....good luck.

I had broken my leg…read more I was put on suiside watch and placed in a tiny cell naked for 36 hours without any medical assistance whatsoever. During booking, I was told that because I was unwilling to provide my information for an unlawful arrest, our public servants got butt hurt and decided to play judge, jury, and executioner. I have absolutely no history of suicide and the medical staff was well aware of this during my stay. I remember the good times and bad regarding my stay at this establishment. I remember my neighbor pooping and peeing on the door of his cell whilst singing "I believe I can fly," by R Kelly. I remember the friends I made, like the public servant who told me to "shut the fuck up" after asking for medical assistance. We had a great time together. Overall the food was amazing! 5 stars. The company and care was top notch! 5 stars. However, I will admit that this is not an establishment where bringing a date or finding one is recommended. Time to sue the city of madison.

My brother was told by them that he could get out on the jail diversion program and dose at psychological addiction services to continue his treatment. Now some nurse is totally going in the opposite direction, lie lie lie and lie some more that's all they do in the Dane County jail. My brother is trying to put his life back together not to mention the judge put in there in his notes that he is to continue going there that's why he got the jail diversion program this new sheriff don't know his ass from a hole in the ground. Get my brother out of there and let him continue his treatment because if he relapses I am going to hold the Dane County jail responsible and I will find a lawyer in the United States that will take this case. You can't just send pregnant females out there to dose and leave everybody else to die that is called discrimination. Somebody is going to listen to me I am not going to lay down anymore. So if you're from the Dane County jail I would get your ass in gear. Shawn Johnson

The new Villager Mall, the South Side Clinic for the Access Community Health Center, the phoenix-like rebirth of Taqueria Guadalajara and the expansion of the St Mary's Hospital are all testaments to positive changes taking place in this neighborhood. In my opinion, the best example of the area's metamorphosis is the Goodman South Madison branch of the Madison Public Library system. With numerous meeting rooms, a children's section designed to stimulate interaction, original artwork covering the walls and a boatload of computer terminals, this new building serves as a community center in addition to its library duties. Every time I visit, it's buzzing with activity. I'm a fan of the reading area in the southwest corner of the building. With its fireplace, comfy chairs, a multitude of outlets to plug in your laptop and free wi-fi, it's a great place to drop in and get some work done. It's isolated from the rest of the library, so the activity in other sections of the building does not serve as a distraction to the patrons in this cozy little nook. As Pearl mentioned in her review, the staff members are always über-helpful. The only negative I can see if that the content selection at this branch is less than the Central Library and some of the other branches. However, with the use of LINKCAT, you can access media from 53 libraries that are members of the South Central Library System, so it's not that big of deal. And with more stores opening in the new Villager Mall, parking can be a challenge at times. If you haven't visited this library yet, I strongly encourage you to check it out.
