So after having training about savings on car insurance I approached my agent to remove unnecessary coverage. It was at this time things got ugly. It's just unbelievable how State Farm has managed my water damage insurance claim opened since January 2024. It's now mid-July 2025 and my home is still in shambles. We've been living in alternative housing since Oct. 2024 and will have depleted living expensed on Aug. 2025. State Farm will not provide further funding for alternative housing and they have not approved the estimate and funding for the 'Re-build', which will still take 3-4 months once payment is released. My family and I are facing not having suitable housing and being out on the street; but State Farm has had four (4) different Adjusters overseeing this claim and every time a new Adjuster is assigned, he/she requests 'a few months' to review claim and paperwork. The staff did not carry my "old" plan to my new car when purchased August of 2024. I specifically asked for this to happen because, of course, i wanted all my same coverages. I've been learned from past (bad) experiences to have these extras on my plan. After being reassured several times that it had carried over exactly, i found out a couple weeks ago, that they did not do that. Of course I didnt know it was the case until it was time for me to use one of the extras I paid for, road side assistance. When I called Statefarm for this, I was told I didnt have it on my policy.Ive been in this situation before, and was trying to avoid all this and the staff dropped the ball. I had my car towed anyway because it was broken down on a busy street. When I called the office to inquire, I was told that they were going to send a message to their "higher ups" to see if rhey can back date it and refund me my tow charge. . After over a week of waiting, the answer was "no". Their HUGE mistake and not fixing it is a huge no no for me. I dont put my trust in you, then you fail, then you fail me even worse. I canceled with them immediately. Besides this, I got daily, sometimes more than daily calls asking to add on life insurance. I never called them back, you'd think they get the hint that I wasn't interested. Nope. Huge ick! The more a company calls to hassle me, the least I'm attracted to them. Fact is, similar increases are being requested across the country allegedly because of distracted driving and the costs associated with repairing high tech vehicles. We have been State Farm customers for many years with multiple homes and vehicles covered. This past year we ourselves uncovered two major errors in their billing system. #1 We have a truck that we switched over to a Classic Vehicle policy (at State Farm's suggestion), however State Farm "forgot" to take the truck off of our original multi-vehicle policy. Subsequently we paid on two policies for one vehicle for many months. We are paperless and also have our premium paid automatically it was not discovered right away. #2 Just this month the policy for two of our vehicles was up for renewal. State Farm's software automatically changed us from the monthly payment plan we have been on for years to an annual payment. Had I not noticed State Farm was about to automatically deduct from our bank account over $1,000 more than we had budgeted we would have found ourselves in a serious financial mess. We had a major hail storm. State Farm sent their affiliate Seek Now which said $1200 damage. Two roofing companies evaluated and took pictures showing $22k in damage. State Farm said they won't send anyone out since they "don't see a difference in the damages". They also said they don't have record of a hail storm on that day in Illinois (we're in Missouri). The claim team said they don't have proof that all the hail stone damage was hail, said it could be rain that swelled up. Still an Act of God either way. Everyone else in the neighborhood had their roofs replaced except State Farm Customers. They said "we don't do anything because other insurance companies, and we're not a savings plan". My liftgate had a dent covering 40% of the area of the surface plus it was bent on the inside frame. State farm insist they can repair this by bending the panel back in place and filling with bondo. I have worked in claims for over a decade. I have been a construction vendor previously for State Farm, and I could not believe how terribly they treated their Insureds. During the pandemic I took a break from the insurance industry. When I came back to claims, I found State Farm property claims was even worse than pre-pandemic. I look at State Farm property estimates regularly, and they are unprofessional, sloppy, filled with underpayments or "vendor guidelines" as the Carrier calls them, and overall are some of the worst estimates that I review... I review estimates from many middle market and private client carriers, and State Farm is in the top three worst Carriers that I audit. Avoid State Farm property insurance. Well, for starters, it appears that only people who are ticked at State Farm post reviews... Or alternatively, State Farm aggravates a lot of Yelp reviewers. I'm going to fall into the second group. I have been with SF for, I'm guessing, 40 years. I have a large umbrella policy with them covering me for liability (I also have insurance on almost everything else I own with them.) These guys send out letters claiming that your insurance is being canceled because of any number of reasons... they have not received proof that you paid for insurance on a vehicle that is with another agency, or they have not received a Five Year Loss Report on your boat... Letters are clearly sent from the home office in Bloomington Il. When you call them to fix the problem they simply say that they are not handling your umbrella policy and that it is handled locally. I asked why the letter came from the home office if that was the case... they insisted that I discuss the matter only with the local office... and transfer me to my local agent. When I speak with the local office, I can tell that they are frustrated with the people in Bloomington. I get things like "They just send out these horrible letters and cause mass panic without telling anyone here what they are doing." "We are on top of the problem and will make certain that the home office doesn't cancel your policy." It's not comforting that the home office is obviously not being truthful and they seem to have authority and even alacrity to cancel customers who have been with the company for decades. Let's start with a five rating and remove 1 for having no respect for customers, cut 1 for stretching the truth, cut 1 for horrible communications, and finally cut one more for not listening to customer problems on the phone... let's see, they get a rating of 1 read more

On July 16 2025 I noticed a small discolored area on the drywall above an interior door. I asked a contractor to look at it, and when he felt the area he said it appeared to be damp. He suggested cutting the ceiling sheetrock to investigate, and when he did we found the area between the lower and upper levels of the house to be wet, with excessive moisture and the presence of a "suspicious growth". Due to its relative containment, my contractor said that it appeared that this issue had only recently happened and that the damage could almost certainly be repaired. The fact that there was only a single location of discoloration from the moisture on the living side of the home also pointed to a recent occurrence of the problem. My agent called Spangler Restoration for an inspection. They quickly assessed the situation as excessive condensation from the metal HVAC ductwork. The combination of the excessive heat and humidity following Tropical Storm Chantal nine days earlier, and the higher efficiency of our recently installed heat pump, resulted in the ducts "sweating" excessively, causing much of the insulation to literally fall off of the ductwork, exposing it completely to the hot and damp air and thus causing the condensation we discovered. My assigned adjuster (we'll call him John Smith) informed me that an additional inspection would need to be performed. When I asked why, since one had already been performed by a licensed Restoration company that was chosen, sent for, and paid by a State Farm representative, he said that "State Farm Corporate is a separate company from the local representatives", and would require their own assessment. (He actually used these words.) The technician arrived Tuesday July 29 concurred that that water damage was caused by sweating ductwork, a phenomenon he said he sees "all the time during summer in North Carolina". In spite of the fact that three restoration professionals all agreed that the issue was a recent event, my claim has been denied, twice. In the first denial notice, Smith said that the damage was the fault of my HVAC installer, because he had not inspected the ductwork before installation, and he referenced a portion of the NC Mechanical Code to bolster his claim. I pointed out that Smith must not have read it in its entirety, since it clearly states that inspection is not required in crawlspace or ceiling cavity areas. Mr. Smith's response deserves to be quoted, as it's almost as absurd as his misreading of the mechanical code. He begins by admitting not critically reading his own reference: "I apologize for missing that fact. It does seem the condensation was occurring in the ceiling cavity and not the attic space. Regardless of the area where the the condensating [sic] ducting is located this would still not be a covered loss due to the fact that it has been occurring over a period of months dating back to last year. This can [be] evidenced by concentric dark water stains in the ceiling cavity, rust on the ducting, and microbial growth." While I cannot speak to the "concentric circles" (nor can I see them), his reference to "microbial growth" is particularly ridiculous: at this point State Farm had let this situation languish for nearly 2 weeks during one of the hottest and high-humidity events on record: of course there's microbial growth. Nor do I see any rust on the ductwork, though the presence of rust on 60 year old ducts wrapped with insulation in a ceiling cavity would be unsurprising and proves nothing. And even if there was any evidence of the damage he quotes, how he could equate its source to "dating back to last year" defies logic. How, I ask, did he arrive at "last year"? When Smith's first excuse to deny coverage failed because he hadn't done his homework, he simply and clumsily dredged up another on the spot. State Farm's woefully incompetent and devious adjustors have performed abominably throughout this entire process and should be severely sanctioned, if not dismissed outright. read more

Other driver said he was stopped in the right lane at a red light and my son rear-ended him. Procured a video clearly showing him making a right turn from the center lane and t-boning my son making a right turn from the right lane. No red light, no rear-ending. I started statefarm last year and the rates were good till after 6 months, then i get the we got to raise your prem when i have 0 accidents, 0 tickets, and to make up for other drivers being poor drivers, then 6 months again another raise so i asked for that tracking of my driving to keep my rates down as well as sign up with auto pay, my rates did come down, but new game with State Farm, they have the correct info on my bank card BUT, they keep changing the exp date so the bank rejects the monthly charge so State Farm can hit me with a 25 dollar late fee when i had paided with a second credit card after i find out what they did, 2 times i talk to bank 2 times i talk to my agent secretaries (1 of the times was a visit to office to show them the card exp date) they say they corrected it, then next month rolls around and they change the exp date so the bank rejects again and once again they collect another 25, Either State Farm is to dumb to enter the correct info so the payment goes thru or someone is doing this on purpose so they can make back the funds i am saving on my driving. I had an accident and called to file a claim with State Farm. From the start there were issues. I was sent information that my rental car was ready to only find out when I try to pick it up; There was no vehicle in my name. The collision repair shop they scheduled me to take my vehicle did not work on Maseratis. I called State Farm and informed them I called around to several local repair shops and was advised there is no collision repair in my area that works on Maseratis and the closest shop will be in Raleigh. I did not hear back from State Farm, so I called the dealership and they recommended Relentless Collision; so I had my vehicle towed there. Days later State Farm finally called me and informed me Relentless Collision is not in there network and advised me to hold off while they make a few calls. I received a call back and was informed that Tech Craft works with State Farm so my car was towed to Tech Craft. as weeks went on me and my husband called for updates on my repair and at first we were always advised a few more days which turned into weeks and then months. When I finally picked up my vehicle the outside repair looked great but I started having an issue with low tire pressure sensor numbers on the front tires and a knocking sound when turning left and right. I kept calling Tech Craft to no avail. Once I finally put in a complaint; the owner from Tech Craft apologized for not returning my call and advised he is no longer in business. He informed me he ordered two tire sensors and gave me an address he was having it delivered to and installed them since he is no longer in business. When I took my vehicle there I was immediately informed if there are numbers showing there is not a sensor issue. There would be a dash and not numbers if there was a sensor issue. That gave me pause because he immediately educated me yet the company that was paid money for more complicated repairs didn't know that. I still was unable to reach Tech Craft about the knocking sound so I called State Farm since they sent me to this business. Now all of a sudden State Farm advise me that Tech Craft is not in their network. I was mislead to think Tech Craft was in their network. I already had my vehicle at a shop that is not in network but specialize in repairing my vehicle. Why would I move it to another "non network" repair shop that obviously are not experience in repairing my vehicle. When I talked with Ashley form State Farm Customer Relations and shared my issue and the story about the tire pressure. She stated maybe we did send it to the wrong shop and she advised me to take my vehicle to get checked but before any repairs are done allow State Farm to inspect the vehicle. I had my vehicle towed to Maserati of Raleigh and State Farm went to appraise it 3 days later and denied paying for repairs. Without even looking at the shabby work underneath; you can visibly see the piece in front of the driver's side tire is in shreds because it is rubbing against the tire due to poor installation. My next action is to seek legal assistance. I can't wait until this is settled. We are new to State Farm and my only experience with them definitely doesn't make excited to have them. Got rear ended on Sep 1: minor accident so it wasn't really a biggie. The driver at fault had State Farm insurance. She didn't speak any English so I had to make the call to file the claim. That phone call lasted around 20 minutes. Not too bad. Fast forward to Sep 23 (Friday), I finally heard back from a State Farm representative telling me they accepted liability and would cover the repair costs for the damage. During this phone call, she had told me (1) I'm free to choose any body shop to do the repair, but I would have to submit the name of the body shop to them to be 'approved' or I could go to any one of their 'preferred' body shops. (2) State Farm would pay for collision damage on the rental but I would have to submit my insurance docs showing that I only had liability On Sep 28 (Wednesday) I went to a body shop that I had used in the past and done a good job for me to get an estimate for the repair. I also submitted proof of insurance coverage showing that I only had liability coverage. Once I did, I gave them a call to get my body shop approved. But this time around, I was told different things: (1) To have the body shop 'approved', I would have to either do a photo estimate, video estimate, or an in person estimate of the damages first (2) State farm would NOT pay for the collision coverage on the rental. After pointlessly arguing with the State Farm representative about my not being told about these additional steps and about the rental coverage, I decided to just go ahead and do what they asked. Approximately 48 hours (Oct 1 - Saturday) after I had submitted pictures of the damages to the car, I received an estimate back from State Farm. The State Farm rep I had spoken with had told me it would only take 24 hours for me to get an estimate back. which is more than $1k under what the body shop had estimated along with a message that a check will be mailed out to me. I did NOT want to wait for the check and no one had told me anything about sending me a check. I was under the impression that this whole process was to get the body shop approved and any form of payments will be between the body shop and State Farm. So this was another thing that didn't happen as they said it would. Today is October 11 (Tuesday) and I still have not received a check in the mail and my car still can't be repaired because I haven't received the check. The incident took place on January 8, 2025. A State Farm insured slammed into the back of my vehicle. The police we called out, insurance information was exchanged, and pictures were taken. The claim adjusters whom I encountered are "pathetic in character, knowledge, and integrity," making the entire experience lengthy, horrific, exhausting, and downright unprofessional. From January 8 - March 4, all adjusters that I spoke with were nonresponsive and incompetent regarding State Farm and/or industry policies. Case and point, I was sent a link to take pictures of the, I took pictures and sent them back. Tanesha and a manager by the name Darnell acknowledged the reception of those pictures, however to no avail. Ms. Tanasha, an adjuster who was involved for only a quick minute, was reviewing everything and paying out on the injury side of the claim. She operated with Class, Ease, professionalism, and empathy. Within 3 days of Tanesha being involved, she handled this claim according to the standards of the industry. Hence, the day I followed through with the photos from State Farm's link, Tanesha called and finalized her personal injury side of this claim, and since that date, absolutely nothing has been done. Pictures were requested from Kyren Jackson, unprofessional pictures that he asked me to take, I submitted. A link was sent for pictures, I took pictures. They sent me to Carwise to obtain an estimate, and I submitted the estimate. I was sent to Crash Champion, who rejected my car 3 times, and I was sent to Caliber Collision received an estimate, and I submitted. As of 4/10/2025, I spoke to the 4th adjuster, who was not a fault, and attempted to start this process over, stating that she needed photos of the vehicle. Today is 4/11/2025, there have been no calls and no results from State Farm Insurance. Everyone I spoke with, the exception of Tanesha Hackney, created a new scenario for the claim, causing each exhausting phone conversation to be null and void. This was overkill for a person who is innocent of liability. A group of dictators with a lack of integrity and wherewithal. These adjusters, all involved, need to be fired. I'm sorry to say. The handling of this claim is unacceptable. These people are the creators of a hostile environment between the companies and the people who pay your salaries. It is too costly for individuals who do not have the tact or humane sensitivities built within to hold these positions. A once well respected and leader in the Insurance industry! read more

I'm going to put the letter I wrote to my State Farm agent to explain: Effective immediately I would like my auto policy canceled! Even though the computer says I've been with State Farm for approximately 25 years I have in fact been with them for approximately 35 years. As I've said before, when the information was put on computers I believe that was put as my start date with State Farm which is incorrect. I started with State Farm around the late 80's with NO lapse in coverage. After approximately 35 years with State Farm I had ONE claim in all those years with a pay out of only approximately $880+ dollars. In shopping around I found the exact same coverage I had with State Farm, at the price of approximately $57+ dollars a month, which is what I was paying with State Farm before the last two increases. There was absolutely no reason why my premium should have gone up to $93+ dollars a month. It is an absolute disgrace how my many, many years of loyalty to State Farm has been repaid by you, your staff and the company! read more

State farm is poorly run,if you pay,and change mind,which is your option you'll never see a refund. Call state farm,you're going to be channeled back to your agent. Think about a actual loss,you ever going see a check? The policy is always ACV,what's that,what they want pay? Insurance is non profit,but they raise rates to make a profit. Customer service for third party claims is nomexistent. Calls are iltimately routed to a recording and the messages left are never returned.

Good luck actually finding and making contact with one of these unicorns. Sate Farm as a whole stinks and ranks right up there with the worst reps and zero customer service. All of my 4 agents so far an counting have each lied to me about my policy coverages and what they actually are since these reps in Sand Springs Bristow and OKC simply don't know what they are talking about or doing and should not be in business at all much less hold a license to do so. I am just a recent transplant with a previous property and casually license for home and auto in another state. I pretty much have a clue how it all works just not the state laws yet as they apply to insurance policies and mandates. Clearly no help from the agents and never can get a contact from corporate that is competent or qualified to handle these kinds of problems so I usually am hung up on. I even tried finding a regional rep and they too are either a unicorn or one told me extinct. I just want proper coverage and clear communication is all. Instead it is more like Lord of the Flies and a free for all for Oklahoma representation by its State Farm insurance agents. Plus the non existent corporate office that allegedly exists just not for customers as I have gotten no where with these dead beat losers. I left corporate insurance sales and became a private broker because these corporate goons are the real scam artists. read more

I do water mitigation for a living and I have had the worst experience with everyone of the adjusters that I have spoken to. If you need insurance and want them to cover anything, PLEASE, PLEASE, do not sign up with State Farm!! They will not pay for your claim and as the home owner you will get stuck with a massive bill because your insurance company is trying to get their share holders $$$!!! Please do not sign up with State Farm if you want your house covered when a damage occurs. read more

I had this insurance in Alaska. It seemed to have the best rates in Alaska but quickly those rates constantly fluctuated, and I did not understand why when no claims were filed and I had no tickets. It was frustrating that every time I turned around my rate was increasing with no valid reason and I never received explanations. I ended up going back to Geico for a short time before landing with USAA. read more

These people at State farm are the worst . I had gotten in an accident 7/9/24 and I'm still waiting to drive my car it went to Yark in Toledo a week after I got rear-ended and I got it about 2 months later not complete with Yark telling me it's fixed .and state farm not even caring that it's not drivable . State Farm never even looked at my car after the accident and just took Yarks word for it . The work was terrible and state farm was negligent in not making sure it was right. I wish this would let me put no stars because that's what this deserves. read more

Statefarm is trash I been with them for over 10 years. I have an accident on June 9 the liable party didn't have enough coverage so I had to file with my insurance company and dealing with Statefarm has been an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE.... Contacted them on 7/7 and to date 7/26 I still don't have an estimate on my vehicle.. yet they are quick to talk about my rental limits and the fact that I have until 8/3...... this is a freaking joke..... insurance is a big scam and Statefarm is a horrible company.... read more
