You're not going to find a better community theater than the Carolina…read more Over 80 years old, the theater retains that golden age of cinema charm while still providing movie goers with modern day digital projection and sound. I simply love going to see films here. Such a great facility. You're not going to see what opened in the multiplex that weekend. The Carolina is 2nd market and gets films a few weeks after they open in elsewhere. But its worth the wait - or taking the opportunity to see something a second time. And the whole family can enjoy a film without breaking the bank. At $3 a ticket, a family of four can go for under $20 and still have change for snacks (which are equally reasonably priced). The upstairs screen has stadium seating. Downstairs has the more traditionally seating but the chairs are super comfy and with the old school hardwood floors, I actually love seeing a film downstairs on the giant screen as its an experience rapidly fading away. I look forward to coming here every time I'm down in NC visiting my parents.

This theater is a slice of history! I would choose it over any of the big chains anyday. Why?…read moreTicket prices vary between $5-$7 per person (depending on time of day) and concessions are even inexpensive as well. We paid around $3 for a small popcorn. The theater has plenty of seating and the staff are all so friendly! There are stairs so be sure to check the website which tells which films are being shown upstairs for anyone who has limited mobility. The seats are surprisingly newer & very comfortable. They "rock" or "give" a bit for anyone who likes to lean back instead of sit on what feels like a wall of bricks (like most old theater seating.) Lastly, parking deck is directly across the street if you can't find street parking. Enjoy your movie!

I'll never understand why people still pay money to see a movie at the long outdated Regal Birkdale…read moreTheater, when this welcoming cinema exists only 10 minutes up the interstate. Offering better amenities & cheaper admission prices. I really enjoy coming to this AmStar by Santikos Mooresville location and have been for many years. The staff are always very kind & helpful, & the reclining chairs in the auditorium are the best in the area. There's plenty of room to get in & out of the aisles also. I adore the well lit & vivid colors of the lobby, white & lime green (my favorite color)! This theater has been properly kept up with & reasonably updated over the last 5-6 years. Earlier this year, they finally got the Coca-Cola Free-Style machines & they also now have super cool self serve popcorn machines. Popcorn, Soda, and ICEES are ALL REFILLABLE regardless of the size you order. The ticket prices are also reasonable given the updates made recently (and still less expensive than Regal Birkdale). Just saying! There could be some better "real-food" options, but other than that AmStar by Santikos Mooresville is currently the best theater for a movie going experience (aside from the AMC's at the malls) in the Lake Norman area! (Note: Photos of the lobby & auditoriums are from Halloween 2025 & the photos of the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines & self serve popcorn machine are from February 2026).

Caught a $6 Tuesday screening of Lilo & Stitch at Cinemark (aka Movie Bistro in Charlotte), and it…read morewas honestly such a fun and seamless experience from start to finish. We bought our tickets online ahead of time--super quick, easy process, and we got to pick our seats in advance (huge bonus). I grew up loving this movie, so getting to relive it on the big screen as an adult felt like such a nostalgic treat. The parking lot was packed when we arrived (we love to see people show up!), but the check-in line moved quickly, most people had also purchased tickets ahead of time. We were hungry and decided to split a fried chicken wrap with fries, which came out to around $12. Pretty reasonable for theater food! Something that really stood out? This Cinemark serves craft beer. We didn't grab any drinks this time, but we definitely scoped out the menu for our next visit. We even saw folks walking around with giant 24 oz pours--respect. The theater itself was super comfortable. Reclining chairs, a great view of the screen even in a full house, and an overall cozy vibe. Our food was delivered to the theater, and we just picked it up from the side area without missing a minute of the movie. That convenience alone is a win. Watching Lilo & Stitch in that setting felt special without breaking the bank. We laughed, reminisced, and had a great time. Big shoutout to Cinemark for the smooth experience and that unbeatable $6 Tuesday deal. We'll definitely be back and next time, we're bringing friends (and trying the beer!).
