I've been going to this theater for the last 15 years. Ever since AmStar 14 has been purchased-partnered(?) with Santikos, they check women's bags to get in the theater? Bet you they don't check men's pockets. Seems sexist. It's also a huge invasion of privacy. What if a man looks into my purse and sees my tampons. Embarrassing. My bag isn't even oversized, it's a large fannypack. They also don't accept cash at all. OR TAP?! And don't give me, "we are checking for weapons," when was the last time something dangerous happened at AmStar 14? If you're worried about danger reach out to the local police department or hire professionals to be security. Not invade the privacy of all the individuals who choose to carry purses. This theatre has an extremely friendly and courteous staff. The food menu is plentiful and their health score is 100!!!! They have wine, beer, soft drinks, hot dogs, pretzels, nachos and almost anything else you can think of to eat! Tons of candy options. The theatre has comfortable reclining seats and it's very clean. It's right off Hwy 150 and very close to the I-77 on/off ramp. I'd definitely come again. read more

Came here on opening weekend for Wicked. So easy to buy tickets online snd pick showtime and seats. Then you just show your ticket confirmation inside the theatre and you're told which screen to go to. So much better than lining up for tickets and getting random seats. The seats recline with footrests. Spacious and comfortable. Sound system is great and the temperature is comfortable. The last time I went to this theatre was during the last ownership. This is such an improvement. Bathrooms are clean too. Snacks are still expensive tho. read more

My family and I recently "discovered" Amstar in Mooresville even though it is not far from home. Earlier this month, my son Rusty, his wife Cody, and I watched "Gladiator II" there. We had not been to this theater before and were impressed with its cleanliness, 14 screens, modern and comfortable reclining seats, spacious access between rows, and the friendliness of the staff. We viewed the 1215 showing and enjoyed hot buttered popcorn for lunch. Let the record show that Cody is holding the mega-sized container of popcorn while Rusty and I have Coke Zeros. As a Vietnam veteran, I will be back to take advantage of the Monday special when veterans and first-responders get a five-dollar special on tickets and concession items. read more

This theatre is easy and convenient to locate and they have plenty of parking. The seats are extremely comfy and there's plenty of room if you are sitting near someone. You can determine what level of recline suits you which I loved. The layout is great and the sound system is awesome, especially for an action packed movie like MI. The only thing I will comment on is they charged $9.00 for a small popcorn. That's a bit steep in my opinion so I regrettably passed on the salty stuff and just enjoyed the movie. They also have a different option of watching a movie on a larger screen. read more

I found it appalling that no posters for The Color Purple were anywhere to be found in the theatre. When we asked if there were any, the staff looked at us as if we were crazy and said "no" with an attitude. Had I known it would be like this I would have chosen a different venue for the movie. I'm not a frequent moviegoer, but I dropped in here recently to watch a film. And I will confirm that the seating is comfortable. Kinda surprised I didn't fall asleep in that recliner. I was unimpressed by the sound system though. My flick of choice should have been a seat shaking experience of rumbles and roars, to be honest. Not so in this venue, I'm afraid. And about 90 minutes into the movie, my attention was drawn to two mice scampering to and fro on the stairway adjacent to my seat. WOW, this theater just received a new face lift! I was debating coming to this location because my last experience wasn't so great. The theater was dated and had a bad odor. Well not this time!!! I walked in and immediately noticed the new renovations which included the comfortable plush recliners with cup holders and new tile flooring. I kicked backed and enjoyed the new movie House of Gucci which was just okay. My highlight was feeling like a queen on her throne in these new plush seats. I can't wait to go back next month during the holiday screening of oldie but goodie movies. read more

Definitely could be better. As you walk in through the front door there's so much space, I feel like it's a bit of a waste, if they added better games in that room maybe people would actually enjoy spending their time there. Plus I get that usually movie theaters overcharge in the concessions but 5.46 for a water bottle, cmon now. And let me not forget while I was watching the movie I noticed that one of the speakers was making a buzzing noise, speaker must've been damaged, should get that checked out. read more

What would it hurt to allow a cup of ice to be given with a purchase of water that is served warm? They've upgraded the seats to this theater, which is a plus, but there are still areas they need to focus on. The bathrooms are terrible! Many of the women's stalls are missing doors and while there are a lot of sinks, a number of them don't have handles. It makes the bathroom run before or after a movie jarring after the more modern seats and theater experience. Additionally, the handicapped parking is right next to the dumpsters so every time I go with my family, it smells so horrible we have to fast walk out of the stench. The entire side parking lot has this problem, so next time we just have to park in another area. I do hope the bathrooms get addressed someday though, it is an area that sorely needs some attention. read more

After dropping what I consider to be a good deal of money for our family of four to see a movie and a few snacks, I would've expected the bathrooms to be better kept. When I came to the front to find a manager they were all in the front office and at the counter I found the restroom checklist that had been marked just minutes before and the bathrooms were DISGUSTING. Doors missing, nasty toilets, messy. Unacceptable especially when I saw at least 4 employees in the front office just chatting. Then to top it off the Photo Booth took our money. No one ever came to the front to ask if I needed assistance. We went at matinee hours and they weren't busy, at all. Very disappointed. Those fancy recliners aren't worth the disgusting bathrooms in my opinion. read more

Hi-back chairs w/ drink holders in the arms, free refills, and ill mannered slobs who put their feet up on the chair-backs. Two out of three ain't bad... Regular tickets are about $11 each but you can save a little cash at the matinee showing (unless you're a senior, then it's one low price all day.) Add a refillable large popcorn and soda plus a box of Goobers® for under $20. Not a bad deal for an afternoon in comfy chairs that can accommodate the biggest movie fan. Screen room was a typically shallow stadium configuration that made the compact screen look bigger; same principle as watching your TV from the floor instead of the couch. Sound quality was sufficient to fill the room and distract from the silliness of the CGI bits; we even got a some rumble and thud from the bass-holes next door. Facility was clean and well kept, staff was agreeable and friendly, and the shows were current. What's not to like? read more

This theater has many issues. The bathrooms are gross and none of the urinals in the mens bathrooms work. I went for a 6:30 movie. It is 6:45 and the movie still hasn't started yet. I asked the gentleman that takes tickets he said oh yeah theater 10 always starts late. Really you can't fix the start of a movie. This place is a joke. read more

This is an excellent movie theater that is safe and fun for the whole family. 75% of the time their popcorn is better than AMC's. The arcade is limited and requires a trade of United States currency for tokens to play Ms Pac-Man that breaks at pretzel. Otherwise, the friendly service professionals are effective and the management is approachable and responsive. The digital projectors provide a wonderful picture with dynamic range and color depth of film. Highly recommend this place. read more

The new recline chairs here are great except you still end up sharing the arm rest with the person next to you. That's my only issue with the new seats. Otherwise it's a good theater but would be nice if it were larger and had more screens. read more

This movie theater in Mooresville is always a top pick for our family. The staff is very helpful and friendly. If you choose online options for ticket ordering that is extremely faster and convenient. They have clean restrooms and clean theaters! The seating is very comfortable also. Their prices are about the same as other theaters , I have been to. I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

I feel spoiled by the brand new cinema near me back home, however, this theater did serve the purpose last night for seeing Jurassic World. We saw the 3D version at my cousins request, and at $14 per person, if I was responsible for paying, we would have seen the regular version. $14 is WAY TOO MUCH for a movie in my opinion. The theater is visibly old, does not have any "modern" features like alcoholic beverages or kettle Korn, but it does have stadium style seating. Also, 60 and older gets a $3 discount (my mom is probably the only 60 year old who will admit her age but she was all giddy to get the discount). read more

The seats are nice, the cound is great and Ive never had an issue with the quality of movies shown. I gave it 2 stars because the management and organization of this theatre is HORRIBLE! The customer service is a joke and the management changes with the seasons. Get in, watch your movie and get out. Late showings during the weekend even on new releases are easy to get into if not completely empty. Nice to get a good seat without worry. Concessions are typical expensive theater stuff and tickets are average price as well. Facilities are well maintained and always clean. Overall a good place. I paid to see an action film. I stepped out during the film and asked about the lack of sound. I was lied to twice about the cause of and remedy for the issue. I was given a pass to use for another screening and I left. Hey, take the whole family for a nice overpriced outing and maybe they'll lie to you too! Sounds like fun! The theaters are comfortable, the staff is typical high school mentality, the bathrooms are almost always clean and the sound is good. The tickets are competitively price and they usually host a kid-friendly series each summer w/discount tickets and treats. The snack bar is RIDICULOUSLY priced - $19 for two drinks and popcorn. Three stars b/c of the overpriced, so-so snacks, they won't let you bring food from neighboring businesses and they are swarmed w/loud, rude teens nights/weekends (teens who make even accessing the box office a nightmare and the management doesn't seem to mind.) read more

Visited this theater for the first time to see the New Star wars. Got there for the 930 showing. Very clean and quiet theater and they have stadium seating as well. Popcorn was hot and fresh and the ticket prices were not overally expensive. My only gripe is why is a giant soda 6 bucks, i can go to the gas station and get an equally huge soda for .99 cents this is not a specially compliant regarding this theater just all movies in general. My wife and I saw a movie there yesterday, got 2 medium popcorns, 1 lrg. drink and 1 small bag of recess pieces; the damages were $27.50! Unbelievable. People complain about gas being $2.15/gallon. Am Star is always clean and the projection and sound quality is very good. Seating is comfortable and bathrooms are clean. I never buy concessions at the theater so I cannot attest to the quality of that. Pomodoros next door is a great place to get a before or after meal. read more
