stash house exceeded expectations as one of the highest ranked and recommended escape room in LA area! the puzzles were pretty unique and complex and the storyline was immersive. the nonlinear room design was different and good for a group of 8 but it did throw me off a bit b/c there were clues in front of us but I assumed we were waiting on other puzzles to be solved first. minus half star - our game master did not look or sound happy to be there and i don't think she was trying to be in character. she talked pretty softly and quickly when explaining the rules with music in the background so i could barely hear the instructions and that would have been harder for someone's first escape room. it didn't ruin the experience at all but i've just always had pretty engaged and enthusiastic game masters. read more

Very cool that once you step into the actual building you are stepping into the escape room literally. I love the Grand Theft Auto/'90s, 2000s inspired theme and atmopshere. While this escape room is one of the more challenging, higher difficulty ones out there, the plus side is that in a group of 4 or more you can work on puzzles concurrently since the puzzles are nonlinear. HIGHLY highly recommend Stash House to add to your escape room roster. We've heard of this escape room before and seen reviews but honestly -- the pictures of the place didnt initially attract us so we always kind of brushed it aside.I am here to tell you that the pictures do not do this escape room justice!!!! This was one of the most immersive escape rooms I've ever been to. The theme itself is sooo clever and hip. There are so many unexpected twists and turns in this room, it will always keep you guessing. My team and I escaped with 8 mins to spare and there were 5 of us -- our GM, Pham was pretty surprised at our group for escaping with minimal clues and less people on our team (for reference, the room accepts up to 11 people) Shout out to Pham for such a great experience. Where do i even begin??? First off, communications ---- perfect! super simple process you go to their website, choose a time and pay; that's all there is. i had a bigger group and there were changes and they were soooo accomodating! It is street parking so its best to be early just to be sure. there wasn't any sign out front so we assumed it was the black door that looks different from the other stores, so yes, it was that. it was my first time and boy i picked a hard one but it really worked out my brain! the more the merrier! it took us forever to solve the puzzles so divide & conquer is the best tactic ever. Stash House exceeded my expectations. I've had my eye on this room since pre-COVID and I finally had the opportunity to play it. Its location was a bit inconspicuous and it played its part in the storyline, especially at night. The hint system worked perfectly for the theme. It never felt like an actual hint. The puzzles were fun, well thought out, and very direct. There some fun surprises as well! Pham was our host and he was awesome. I've heard so many good things about this escape room and the theme is just so unique! Without spoiling much, the puzzles were extremely well thought out. It is a non-linear room and there was more than enough to do for our group of 11. Even finding the entrance to the escape room felt like part of the game! (look for the nondescript green light). You could probably solve the room with less people but I believe strangers could sign up to fill the empty spots in your time slot. The GM sends hints through a phone just to help guide the group but if you don't want them, make sure to tell them before the game starts. Due to the nature of the escape room, anyone under 18 needs adult permission. Overall, loved the puzzles, loved the theme, loved the vibe. Highly recommend and if it's your first escape room, this will be setting the bar very high! read more

I was surprised to see a 5-star rating on an escape room, but after going through the experience, I understand why! - PARKING - Street parking around the area, but we actually walked from a friend's house nearby. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Loved the dedication from the game master to truly immerse us in the experience, as well as being very friendly and even giving us recommendations to other escape rooms at the end! To not spoil any of the experience, I'll just say the room is definitely not what it seems, and I definitely got spooked when certain things activated! (this isn't a scary escape room, I'm just easily frightened) - EXPERIENCE - We had a group of 11, and maybe it's because we all had done an escape room before, some more than others, but there were times when a few of us did idle around looking for something to do. I would say 6-8 would be a great amount to bring here! The GM did warn us this escape room is harder than most, and I think I agree with that statement! You do receive a phone that gives out hints - note that you don't have to look at the phone if you want to figure things out on your own! We were carrying it around with us the entire time and just looked at all the texts but realized maybe it would have been more fun without the help. (although we did finish with 9 minutes to spare, so maybe a few hints were needed!). I definitely like non-linear rooms more with larger groups, and it was fun to hear about everyone's adventures in figuring out puzzles afterwards! - OVERALL - Definitely one of the top escape rooms I've been to, and I love that they support other rooms! To start, the website is written in a manner to get you fully immersed from the start. Read through the FAQs, you could get a minor discount on checkout ;) Then you get a confirmation email on the location, a nondescript black door with a green light in Ktown. Street parking only and it's ktown so not the greatest. Keep in mind it's 90 min so try to find a street parking that is more than the 1 hr long (except Sundays!) signs on the street. The actual escape room is super fun, lots of puzzles. They recommend 5-6 people and I definitely think that should be followed. I went with four and we were close but no dice. We did not escape :( The game master is really fun and friendly, really gets you into the experience of the game. The puzzles are really fun and unique, some of them I haven't seen anywhere besides this escape room and I've done around 7-8 escape rooms between Southern and Northern California. We did this escape room this weekend, had a team of 6 people! It was fun, 4pm time slot and it was perfect because we prolly could not have done it with only 4 people. We escaped with 5 minutes to spare! Unique room because we get 90 minutes to solve the puzzles instead of the usual 60 minutes. Was not that scary inside but definitely a couple moments of freak out. Amazing escape room with a unique (LA-centric/cultured) plot, which made it even more immersive than usual. The puzzles were extremely creative and I liked that there weren't cheap tricks as there can sometimes be. Don't want to elaborate much more since I don't want to give too much away, but our group of 6 felt like it was the perfect amount of 'work' for our group size and experience level - for reference, we finished with 8-9 minutes to spare. If I had to gauge, our group fell into the 5-7 experience level of escape rooms if 10 is most difficult. I think it would have been difficult for us to finish on time if we had 4 or less people. The game master was also extremely friendly and you could tell he genuinely loves his job and escape rooms, very eager to share the thought process behind it after we finished. It is one of the top rated rooms in Los Angeles, so take this opportunity! Parking is rough because it is Koreatown, be prepared to look for street parking. If you live close by, then it is best to Uber or Lyft to the location. Pricing - roughly 40 a person Max of 11 players! In my opinion, the escape room is very big so if you have 5 players or more the better. The setting of Stash House is a Los Angeles Apartment, so when looking for this location look for a green lamp. The game is 90 minutes, which means it is full of puzzles and fun surprises. Because of the scenario you are in, you have a rush of adrenaline when playing the game. It's such an immersive experience that really does feel like you're there at a stash house. This location has a good mix of puzzles, and although older, it does not feel outdated. There's plenty of street parking, but they don't have their own parking lot, so parking may be a struggle. I'd recommend getting there early just to find parking. You can park around S. Hobart Blvd, which is free parking and no meters. But make sure to read the signs as they have hours you cannot park (mostly during school hours). Make sure to also use the restroom beforehand, as there's no easy access to the restroom. Once you arrive at the escape room, the door and walls are all black. Once your whole team has arrived, you ring the doorbell and someone will let you in. You sign a waiver and then listen to instructions before the game begins. I think the game level is hard, so make sure to have a huge group to solve different puzzles. The good thing is the puzzles aren't linear, so everyone can solve different puzzles at the same time. You have 90 minutes to solve the room. This escape room is not scary, there are no jumping scares, but only solving puzzles. I had such a great time and enjoyed my time here! Stash House is an immersive escape room in the heart of K-Town that invites you into the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles. You and your friends have been tasked by drug kingpin Ray Jones with disposing of a secret stash of drugs before the cops arrive, thereby proving your loyalty and skills. That premise makes for an exciting and entertaining escape room experience, which LA-based enthusiasts should seek out. Stash House takes place in a nondescript building identifiable only by its black door and green light. There's no waiting room here, so you'll be asked to wait outside until your appointed time. The lack of a waiting area draws you into the experience from the moment you arrive, accomplishing something that few other companies have managed to achieve to the same degree - immersion. Yes, there are moments where the game master has to step outside of the setting / persona to explain the "house rules," but the hint system is integrated seamlessly into the experience, with the game master delivering cryptic messages via texts on a pseudo-cellphone. The experience is littered with unique puzzles that move beyond simple locks and keys, and the final sequence of puzzles is pretty impressive. Although the individual puzzles eventually converge, there are enough things to allow you and your friends to split up at the beginning of the experience. I'm often skeptical of rooms with longer time limits, as they often do not have enough puzzles to keep you occupied for the duration. But, the 90 minutes are definitely warranted at Stash House. And, almost all of the set pieces will come into play in some shape or form. There's 1-hour metered street parking along 3rd Street directly in front of Stash House; enforcement ends at 6PM. You might find free street parking in adjacent residential neighborhoods, but those spaces are rare in this part of K-Town, especially if you come during evening hours. I love escape rooms. I've done a number of them already and southern California has some great options. The Stash House is a fun room and great experience. The game would be great for newcomers and vets alike, and can accommodate smaller groups. It is definitely beatable. The theme is fun, the puzzles are interesting and challenging but not too difficult, and the story line is well integrated. Atmosphere/Story: The atmosphere was good and incredibly immersive. The game starts as soon as you enter the room so I'd say read through their website first to get an idea before you book or go. This is a gang themed room and it involves themes of drugs/sex/rap music so be aware it wouldn't be suitable for all people. Don't recommend anyone under 16. They use technology very well and overall the theme is really fun. Puzzles: The puzzles inside were pretty good. I will say that some of the puzzles were a bit too blatantly "this is a puzzle here, do this" and less integrated than I'd like. More like being given instructions that you have to follow/decrypt rather than looking for clues so that was disappointing to me. Otherwise, there were definitely unique puzzle I had never seen before in other rooms which is something I love to find. They were all in theme and really worked with the room. The puzzles aren't linear, so multiple people can be doing different things at once which I really appreciate. Clues: You are provided clues via a cell-phone at the discretion of the attendant. He will text you in character to help you out when they feel like you need it. There is no way for you to ask for a clue. I loved this because it helps me not to have to ask for help because then I feel like I gave up. I also really like that the way they deliver clues keeps with the theme. Logistics/Parking: This is located in Korea town right off a busy street. There is no signage so look for a black door with a green light. Push the button right at your start time to be let in. They will not let you in early and there is no waiting room. If you need to go to the bathroom first they will walk you the side entrance. Parking is a pain in the butt. Only street parking and it was difficult to find even at 11:00pm. You need to come early to find a spot. Overall Impression: This was a fun game and definitely approachable for new players, experienced players, and groups of all sizes. I think it's my favorite room in LA. Stash house was an escape room our group booked last minute in our weekend of escaping and SO GLAD we did. Located on a busy street with nothing but an unassuming black door with a green light to mark its location, Stash House has an adventure awaiting you once you enter. I loved the premise and story of this room and I was sold once I stepped in. I have done 30+ escape rooms if not more (I don't really keep count) and I did play this room with other experienced escape room enthusiasts so my ratings will be based on all my experiences with escape rooms. Recommended group size: 7; We were all experienced escapers so we felt like this was a good group size to cover all the puzzles and experience everything. I don't recommend more than this because it'll feel crowded and less would be difficult trying to cover everything. Puzzles: (4/5 difficulty) I really enjoyed the puzzles. There was a lot to do and they aren't linear which is AMAZING. I really don't like linear puzzles because it forces your group to do them together which sucks if you have a large group. I really appreciate that Stash House took the time to craft puzzles that were not only fun to do but required teamwork to solve. It was a good balance of some easy and difficult puzzles and none were repetitive. Also mad props to the team for designing puzzles that were unique and creative! Drug kingpin Ray Jones wants to test your quick wits--with his twisted form of hazing if you will--before he allows you join his crew. Hidden around his apartment are bags of cocaine, which would surely land you in jail unless properly disposed of. Act swiftly, because he's already alerted the po-po to bust yo arses red-handed in 90 minutes. (Excuse their slowness; they're on their donut break.) Having heard much about this venue throughout 2018, tonight was undeniably a night to remember, for me to finally experience the absolutely fantastic Stash House. Raved among owners, enthusiasts, and casual players, SH's infamy of being awesome isn't unfounded. It's one hell of a bright, shiny gem of an escape experience. ...which contrasts sharply with the game's setting: a nondescript, unassuming building--no address number, no signage, simply marked with one lone green light. The simplicity and the very genius of utilizing anonymity set forth the tone of this experience. (Think about it: If a drug deal's about to go down, you surely don't to attract any attention, right?) It's in-theme. It's immersive. It's so effin' exciting! Eeeek! The interior of Ray's apartment took on a similar style, basic and functional, a couch, a kitchen area, a stripper pole. You know, the essentials. This PG-13 production borrowed heavily elements from the hip-hop communities and urban settings, showcasing the meticulous choices the owners made in shaping Ray Jones from a plot character into a more relatable, realistic figure. The careful research, mindful design, and authentic execution were all impressive. With the SH stage set and lit (Literally, look up! The "STASH HOUSE" lights!), puzzles were presented beautifully and logically. While the game still mostly resided in gen 1 territory (ie locks and combos), there's still virtually something for everyone. Those who know me well know I am an avid fan of old-school combo lock puzzles, if and when done right. And SH got it right, indeed. As noted, the range of challenges varied greatly, and each riddle required you access a different skill. You might technically be looking for the similar type of solutions (eg combos), but each hurdle before your destination was ever so different. Some visual, some other... let's just say, less visual. Prepare to even get down and dirty, in more ways than one. Secrets and plot twists, as regular room escapers came to expect, were certainly there. But DAMN (!!!), boy, was I ever so blown away and not ready for the reveal(s). I'd completed close to 80 escape rooms, and SH still gave me an off-the-chart OMG moment. Nicely done. A hefty amount of puzzles awaited, and with a time limit of 90 minutes, and a recommended player number of 6-8, SH was suitable and entertaining even for seasoned experts. (In fact, beginners may struggle quite a bit.) However the experience level, I wouldn't recommend any team to have more than 8 members in this private game. (6 seems ideal.) There comes a point when too many bodies would outweigh the benefits of having more noggins. Nonetheless, there really was A LOT to do, and my team of 7 divide-and-conquered, completing branched-off objectives in small groups, while finally congregating together again in an overall linear narrative. The overall journey was extremely rewarding, a magnitude only matched by the extreme wastefulness of ridding perfectly consumable, grade A stimulant. But that's ok. I am still high from the game. One thing that Stash House made me realize tonight was that, it reminded me heaps of the Evil Genius saga, another great escape game in the LA market. They both had 1 thing in common--a unique, memorable plot. In a business recently saturated in gimmicky high-tech implementations and movie-grade sets, a surefire way to win over an audience's heart is still the same ol', plain ol' great story. The aforementioned game designers all had a vision of *their own* story universe; then they brainstormed, composed, edited, and eventually elegantly crafted a world where only their own branded characters live. This isn't another cannibalistic killer horror trope. We're not curing another deadly virus. This is something exclusive, remarkable, and eventful... ...And when past escape rooms start to blur with one another after my completing so many, Stash House would still stand out like a champion. Really immersive experience, great story, super diverse and challenging puzzles, large space for larger groups, smooth tech, and realistic set design. Really fun surprises to discover along the way and teamwork is essential, which I love. Probably the greatest variety of puzzles and problem solving I've had in one room yet it is well balanced with fun moments built into the escape. It is a hard level of difficulty and a rare room that works well for groups of 6 or more (though you can do it with fewer if you're up for it!). A must do room if you're in the LA area. Very impressed which is hard to do as this was my 135th room. Spoilery constructive criticism: a few of the clues/instructions/phrases in the 4-part area felt misleading or like a red herring which we weren't sure if it was intentional or not. I came in with a group of five and barely made it through haha. There is so much to do in this room but the theme is so well thought out and I really feel like I am in their actual story line. Hope that doesn't give too much away. The room is nicely decorated with hip hop artists albums and pictures. There's secret compartments and everything is staged to look like a dealers apartment. The comfy couches to the grungy bed- gives this place a great stash house vibe. Ryan- our game master was seriously awesome! He answered any questions we had at the end and even gave us some fun facts. I would highly recommend this room to escape room fanatics! A very vague, mysterious escape room just may be one of the best rooms anywhere in the SoCal area! Parking: sucks. It's LA. Meter parking right outside is only a hour so your game master is pretty understanding and will let you exit to refill the meter but it does take away from the experience. Rooms: so so clever and fun! I can't explain just how genius this room seamlessly flows together! It's big enough where my group of 8 had plenty to do which is rare for a group of that size. I went in with high expectations and wasn't disappointed! My team of 4 had done a handful of escape rooms together and we managed to finish on time, but we definitely received a decent amount of help from the Game Master. That's not to say that we didn't do plenty of puzzling and thinking on our own as well! I believe Stash House is a non-linear escape room, meaning the group will face multiple puzzles at once that can be worked on concurrently, and often independently. I enjoyed this aspect of the experience, but of course your mileage may vary. One minor quibble - I didn't know that glow-in-the-dark paint needs to be "charged" with light in order to glow more brightly. It's probably common knowledge, but it was definitely a bit of a blocker for me! I unfortunately didn't catch our Game Master's name, but he was incredibly gracious and friendly. Stash House lives up to the hype. The puzzles are well thought out, the immersion is top notch, and our host was super cool. This was my 65th game, and it's definitely near the top of my list. Be prepared for the location to be unmarked, with zero signage. Read your email and wait outside the door with the green light until the appointed time. Despite it being a 90 min room, our group of 5 experienced players made it out in 59 min. Our host then walked us through the whole room to make sure everyone understood what others had worked on. Tip: I'd recommend wearing shorts and t-shirt since one of the spaces can get a bit toasty read more
