We came for Jumanji. Apparently, this room has been around for over 10 years! They have record breaking times for each escape room. They have two sections and Jumanji is on the bottom floor. They have more upstairs. Check-in process was fairly simple. Just like all the other escape rooms, you will need to complete a waiver. If you havent fully paid for the room, they will collect the balance there. The price is a little high for a one hour experience and tip is optional at the end via cash or a cashapp payment. For 8 people, on a Saturday, it was over $400. I read somewhere in the comments/questions section, there is a yelp check-in discount. I didnt see any on the website, so maybe check with them? Also, there is a code for $15 off your room in the photos section something. I didnt take a photo of it, but I do recall seeing a similar image at the check-in desk. Ive done about 12 escape rooms so far and this experience may have been the best teamwork me and my friends have participated in. We enjoyed ourselves and had a fun time with the theme! We were able to finish will 11 minutes left and had 0 hints! We appreciated the GMs comments when a puzzle was completed so we could move on to another puzzle or area! read more

A friend and I came here for the Alice in Wonderland escape room and we had the best time! 10/10 theming, puzzles and riddles. I won't spoil anything for you, but it was challenging, fun and definitely made us think and work together. I like that you get unlimited clues -- we needed to use a few but tried to space them out to when we were really stuck. Becca was an excellent clue master, too. My friends and I had such a fun time doing the Mission Sigma VR room! I believe only this Melrose location had VR escape games while the other locations are the non-VR ones. We found parking on the street and walked a few blocks to the place. We entered through the bottom front door, where you may need someone to ring you in. First thing they do is make sure we scan the QR code and sign the waiver. As a heads up, they don't accept @yahoo emails! Lol I had to use my Gmail one for them to accept. I had a blast but knocked down a point since there were one too many technical difficulties. The VR technology was dynamic and intuitive, with little to no lag. However, there were two instances where the game turned black and they had to reset us. At one point everyone in the group couldn't see each other and ended up playing alone. When we asked for help, it took them over 5 mins to respond and insisted we were in different parts of the game which we clearly weren't. We communicated the clock was frozen and we were seeing the same room, but not each other. With all the restarts, it showed we escape in 9 minutes, but most likely over an hour. Good thing no one had a game booked after us. I noticed they wipe down the gear after each group's use and also offered hand sanitizers post-game. Glad they stay sanitized ! Overall it was a fun experience, I would recommend this place! Hope what we experienced was not a common issue, because I would come here again to try their other VRs rooms. read more

This place was so amazing we immediately booked a second escape room! We had the pleasure of working with West and Quincy. They are kind and encouraging. We did the Jumanji room in 48 minutes and every minute was exciting and challenging. There were four of us including a 10 year old. The game was challenging but not so difficult that it frustrated you. We then immediately booked the Alice in Wonderland. That was fun as well. There were audio clues which made it challenging. We were warmed up from Jumanji and we were able to finish in 33 minutes. . They both required us to work together. Would be great for team building, family and friends. We were looking for something fun to do on vacation but have visited LA many times so we're looking for something different. This checked all the boxes. did not love the experience here, considering we've done over 30 escape rooms. when we first walked in (11/29) the guy at the check in desk was eating while talking to us. he had mashed potato or whatever tf he was eating all over his beard... gross.. the blonde girl who took us to the room also had a dismissive attitude. towards the end of the room, our room was missing a piece and she kept doubting us over the intercom like "did you check the box" "there's supposed to be 2" "are you sure" - yes sherlock because want to ruin our own experience and pretend we didn't find the piece.. won't be returning to 60out rooms that's for sure. read more

Today we had Sam and Connor (sp?) who were both a delight, and parking was a breeze (you've gotta come here during the liminal space that is the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve, trust). We did Dracula and boy did I feel dumb! It had puzzles where you gotta think a little bit out of the box. Our game master Quincy was great! He provided helpful nudges when asked (which we definitely needed with this room) and helped set the spooky stage. Great production value and really enjoyed the set and soundtrack. Great ambience. Really wish we had two light sources. Only having one lantern meant we had to do the same thing at all times. If my partner wanted to read and I wanted to look at a puzzle, we couldn't really split our attention so it was a little frustrating. We then had game master Conor for our next two rooms. Mafia was fun and had some fun new puzzles. I think it would probably be good for beginner groups or for two medium level people. Grandma's master plan was our favorite room here. Great puzzles, really fun set design. Some of the puzzles were innovative and new and silly. Some were more standard escape room puzzles. ! Ive done the Alice in Wonderland room before and that set design was really neat and I enjoyed those puzzles as well. Great experience at 60out! Ive done about 40+ escape rooms and this definitely was one of the memorable ones! The place was fairly easy to find, street parking so plan accordingly! Lobby is really cute and nice to wait in. Game hosts were super welcoming and nice! We did Grandma's Master Plan. They let us know its one of their harder rooms, we were up for the challenge! From the setting to the storyline to the linearity of the puzzles, this room was definitely well thought out! Some of these puzzles I havent seen before but I really enjoyed. I give this a 5 star experience with one comment: The host mentioned that they give unlimited hints; which is great! They mentioned if a hint is needed, the whole group must come to a consensus then flag down the camera at the same time. However we never actually formally asked for a hint and the host would start giving us nudges here and there anyway. I believe if we were given a few moments to think we'd be able to get thru without the hint, but I mean I guess that was nice of them to lend a hand! WOW! What a great experience following a faux pas of a night My roommate and a friend of ours had come to this location after being forced to do a room with a secondary group we had no connection with another escape room located in CC. After accidentally signing up for their virtual room, I quickly called them and asked if they had a physical room available to accommodate my group. They offered the ghost ship and said all we needed to do was pay the difference. Parking is a bit tough as its located on melrose, so you either get lucky finding a spot or pay the 10$ for the public park The room was crafted and all puzzles were fun to figure out. My husband and I did the Dracula room and had so much fun that we returned later in the day to do Jumanji (just the 2 of us). Our game master was excellent (we didn't get their name). They were really impressed with how we performed in the Dracula room and picked up on our enthusiasm for challenging escape rooms and offered us to do the Jumanji room just the 2 of us (typically it's a min of 4 people). We've done the Grandma's Master plan and Ghost Ship rooms before in a larger group and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this location for well done escape rooms. It was a spectacular setup. + I like that when placing an online reservation for your game, you have two payment options: pay in full, or pay $60 upfront and the rest when you show up. That way, if you have to cancel last-min, you don't get charged in full. + I really appreciate that despite our several-min late arrival due to my friends struggling to find parking, the venue were patient with us and did not charge extra. + In your escape room, there's a basket to put your belongings before you start your game. + VR is amazing!! While wearing the headset, where you look, your character looks. While holding the controllers, where you move your hands, your character's hands move. You can interact with the objects in the virtual world as if they're really there! Whoo!! And you can see your friends and their actions in the virtual world in real time! + I appreciate the 5min tutorial that comes before starting the game. + In-game, the irrelevant watermelons are hilarious to grab, smash, and toss to your friends lol + The puzzles were fun and easy enough. Almost all the motion is done with your hands, looking around with your head, turning in place, and maybe crouching just to pick something up. You shouldn't need to take more than 1-2 steps at any time. Locomotion is done via controller buttons. This design is so you don't physically move too far from your VR headset ceiling anchorage. Suggestion to business owner: If you've visited other non-VR escape room venues, they provide various quick puzzles in the front lobby for guests to solve for fun while awaiting their next game. I came in with a party of five and we completed the Ghost Ship room. There are multiple 60out Escape Rooms so be sure to not make the same mistake as us and book at the wrong location. We assumed the game was at Silverlake and it turned out to be at Melrose. So imagine us speeding through LA while our game time was already starting. There's two separate buildings for the Escape Rooms so it was a lot of going back and fourth to find the game we wanted to play. Mind you we were already late by 15 min but the host was kind enough to accommodate us with not extra late fee. Ghost Ship was interesting! When you enter the room, you are asked to close your eyes while being chained up with your team. The first part of the game was doable but increasingly grew more challenging. To receive clues, the whole team must raise their hands to indicate extra help. The room was categorized under horror, so we were under the impression that it would be scary but in my opinion it was not at all. The idea of the room was cool but one thing that stood out to me a lot were the signs posted "do not touch/enter" plastered several times. We were still able to escape despite being late but i wish the experience was more memorable. read more

As someone who loves puzzles this had everything I was looking for. The puzzles were great and challenging. But nothing so crazy that a novice couldn't figure it out. I think having a big group might make things a little chaotic but as long as everyone is on the same page it's great. And of course, they provide clues as needed. So far I've done Jumanji, Ghost Ship, and Grandma's Masterplan, and I was blown away each time by the set designs and impressive tech. Yes, these escape rooms are pricey compared to many other venues I've been to, but hey, it's LA. And I believe the experiences (especially with promos applied) make the long and arduous commute worth it. I want to come back for the other rooms for sure. Jumanji displayed theatrical elements and cool props plus on-point themed decor. Ghost Ship combined piracy prison break with the occult. Grandma's Masterplan was quite tough but boasted an expansive floor plan. The rooms also felt super different from each other because of the variety of puzzles, logic, and difficulty. They're all fun and enjoyable, you can't go wrong with any of them. Our game masters Andrew, Wes, and Jess were gracious and animated, which add to the immersive experience. Hints were helpful but maybe a little bit too straightforward since I expected them to be more cryptic haha. Apparently parking is available in the back, but I haven't been able to locate the spots labeled for 60out - many of them just say "Private Property" or look extremely janky. We ended up parking in the nearby residential area with the modern housing. Just check the signs and respect their turf. It's a short walk to Melrose Ave, and you can always do some window-shopping or snacking before/after you escape. read more

Amazing experience! We bring our students to 60&Out Melrose everry year. Every year the students have an amazing time and enjoy each room. I have now been through all 6 rooms, and while some are more challenging than others, all the groups have a great time. Everyone that wants to create a team bonding experience should come to Melrose and go to 60 & Out. I recommend the Jumanji room, bu all are great. read more

I've done a decent amount of escape rooms in my life (~10) and this one was definitely a disappointment for how expensive it was (~$45 pp). We did the Ghost ship room, and the main feedback we had was that: - the game master was way too intrusive. They would tell us a lot of things when we didn't even prompt or ask, and gave us TMI and nitpicked random small things - some of the puzzles didn't work properly and were finicky, so we thought we didn't figure them out but turns out something small was just off - Some of the props were dirty and felt like they hadn't been washed in a long time - The room was medium/expert level but didn't feel that hard? We ended up escaping with some time to spare after using 2 clues, but both clues just ended up being that we were on the right track and the mechanisms weren't fully right. read more
