If you want a workout that is going to leave you crawling back to your car, Da Factory Crossfit is not for you. I have done other crossfits and have walked out of their place physically exhausted that I was not able to raise my arms; Da Factory never left me with that feeling. If you YouTube Da Factory Crossfit you will see some of the routines crossfit gyms use. Sadly, most of the workouts Da Factory shows you are not done by their regular crossfit members; these workouts, which are separate from your regular crossfit membership, are for their team performance members. The majority of the time spent at Da Factory is talking. The rest, is spent doing a warm-up routine and brushing up on a skill with a PVC pipe. Da Factory insists on familiarizing different skills each day. I understand this is useful in order to prevent injuries when performing each workout, but it is not necessary when it is not even part of the workout for the day. You do not expect to be holding a PVC pipe for 15 mins when you are paying $125 a month to workout. If they want to teach us how to do a proper lift they should do so before the routine. After all the skill talk and warm-up, there was less than twenty minutes for the actual workout. One of their workouts lasted only 12 minutes. I would not recommend checking out this facility with a Goupon. As a Groupon member, I was treated differently than the regular paying members. They made me feel like I was trying to milk them for it's worth when I questioned one of the coaches about the terms on the voucher. Groupon members are stripped of their right to register for classes online and only full paying members have priority. Requests for classes were made through a coach and depending on availability, I was notified whether I had been placed in a class or not. Sometimes they forgot to e-mail me to confirm my class registration. I have decided to give Da Factory 2 stars and not 1 because of two of their coaches. They were passionate and genuinely interested in teaching me; they made sure I was working out properly. I think Da Factory has a lot of potential but first they need to treat everyone equally (this goes for giving everyone the same work out and allowing your Groupon members to choose their own classes online). They also have to kick their workouts up a notch and stop boring people to death with the daily skill talk when it is not part the WOD. Have the talk once a week and get back to what crossfit is supposed to be--bringing people to their knees and within inches of throwing up.

Upon arrival, you're given a suit that looks like a wetsuit. Then you step into a dressing room, strip down butt booty naked, and put the suit on. The suit is loaded with devices that send electrical stimulation to focal points throughout your body, including your glutimus maximus, which is why you have to be naked under the suit. Once you enter the studio, the trainer connects a battery to the suit and you're ready to go. Exercises are displayed on TVs throughout the studio, and as you work out, the trainer gradually amps up the voltage. It's a safe space, though -- he'll lower or raise the intensity whenever you ask. The sensation is wildly pleasing, and honestly, half the fun is listening to your fellow gym patrons scream and grunt their way through the workout.

Adriana (the owner) has curated an awesome space where folks of every fitness level are able to challenge themselves. The trainers (especially "OGs" like Ariel and Alvaro) demonstrate a level of passion in working with you that I've seen in few - if any - other gyms. There's a level of skill, professionalism, and maturity in their sessions that few other trainers seem to grasp. It explains the loyalty of their ever-growing clientele, which include not just hardcore "gym rats", but also college students, seniors, and regular working professionals. One of the great things about Push is the variety in trainer styles and personalities. Depending on what you look for in coaching, there is someone there for everyone. I would be remiss if I didn't comment on the complaints below about Ariel being "rude" and "condescending" to women. That is nonsense. Ariel is a straight-forward, extremely focused trainer who is constantly paying attention to your in-the-moment needs (form, capacity, etc.) as well as your long-term goals. The reality is your body is actually capable of slightly more than you think it is (which is one of the reasons to work with a trainer, no?). So yes, he will often encourage you to improve your form, or to increase your reps, based on his experience (and he will be to-the-point in that delivery). At the same time - and I cannot emphasize this more - you will never feel unsafe with him (or anyone). There have been many times that he has scaled back or modified my workouts before I even have to ask him to. Frankly, this is my preferred training style; I'm a direct/straightforward person and appreciate the same in others. But Push will always be able to provide you with the type of workout that best suits your needs (and actually encourages you to work with the trainers you respond to best). They are high in intensity and are time based, and with workouts like that I often am scared to injure myself. The instructors usually do help. Because it is so high intensity they are strict with water. Sometimes the instructors only really speak Spanish, which is normal in Miami, but frustrating because the class is so fast paced that it makes me confused and overwhelmed. I end up having to ask other people in the class what to do. Additionally, the music is really loud and it can be difficult to hear what the instructor is saying as the microphone gets muffled.

The owner, Danny, is a really nice guy [and I think he actually cares about whether his clients are reaching their goals or not!]. When you first go in to talk to him, he asks you what your goals are, and gives you a kind of overview of what you need to do to reach them. He also provides you with a nutrition plan and performs an assessment every so often to make sure you know how you're doing and whether what you're doing is working for you. =] And Danny always encourages you to push beyond what you think your limit is. A lot of us, at first, have the idea that maybe we can't lift past a certain weight or that our bodies will give up after 10 standard pushups; Danny won't let you do that to yourself. He'll say Do whatever you can at X and X and then when you really can't anymore you can go lighter/modify. The boot camp offered here is always intense. I never leave a class without being soaked in sweat. Every day is something different; intervals, challenges, timed sets, etc. One of the things I like about the boot camp is that although you're working out with a bunch of other people, you're essentially still doing everything at your own pace and according to your own ability. There are no machines utilized in this boot camp [actually, there are no machines at all in this gym]. Everything is pretty much against your own weight, on the TRX, or by utilizing dumbbells and kettlebells. Cardio is done indoors and outdoors; anything from sprinting with a sandbag, jogging around the block, or doing tons of burpees/jumping jacks/mountain climbers. Every boot camp pretty much covers both cardio and strengthening exercises. And the boot camp schedule is great; there are a bunch of different times you can go - so no excuses! I've also done the personal training at Dynamic Fitness. I think the personal training is great as well, especially if you really want to focus on certain areas. In PT I would request working out a certain muscle group, and Danny would find the exercises that worked for that. Also, in the personal training you get to try different things that maybe you can't do in boot camp because of the class size. Basically, I love this place. I have seen more results since I started working out here back in September 2010, than I ever saw in the two years I worked out with a personal trainer at Bally's before that. This is the place to get stronger, leaner, healthier, faster, and overall better.

I have now found a way to come out for training at least 3 days out of the week. Ralph the owner is awesome he writes a workout program on his board and helps you step by step until he sees that your confident enough to move to the next workout. I have also noticed that many High School students that play sports are training in this facility helping them reach their full potential. My son came and LOVED training here!
