I decided against chemo, as it would not prolong my life significantly, and I don't want my last days to be completely miserable. We are blessed to have the Cancer Center here, it is ranked very highly nationwide! And I have had no frustrating waits or slow delivery of needs, except when I went to their center on Orange Grove. The "doctor" (D.O.) there at Orange Grove told me she could NOT resect the tumor and that is the only possible curative care. AND, she was slow in getting pain meds refilled. I waited 2 hr to see her for a brief 15 min and she recorded that she spent 75 minutes on my care. Unless she spent an HOUR looking at my scans that is impossible The difference between the care at Orange Grove and Campbell locations is very significant. I saw an oncologist first, who said he heard about my case while he was on vacation!! That was so impressive it brought me to tears. I saw the surgeon about a week later and surgery has already been scheduled. I feel I could not be in better hands! Expertise and professionalism from the schedulers to the doctors is THE BEST!

I was very ill with extreme fatigue, sweating, hot flashes, brain fog, tachycardia, and panic…read moreattacks. It was about 4 weeks after pelvic radiation therapy. When I called for help an assistant told me that my symptoms couldn't be from radiation therapy. The doctor never returned my call. Eventually I discovered that all my symptoms were from damage to my ileum caused by pelvic radiation therapy. I wasn't absorbing B12. Damage to the ileum and B12 deficiency can take months to manifest. Very poor response from assistant.

My husband had his first Urology appointment today. He had been having a combination of symptoms…read morethat have ranged from severe abdominal pain to pressure in the lower back and an overall discomfort and pain continuing for the last six months. He has been to several doctors as well as specialists all 'mentioning' possible stones but none ordering the proper test or following up. Meanwhile, my husband on a daily basis continues to be in minor pain ranging up to severe where his mood, lifestyle, energy has been compromised with minimal effort from current doctors to discover issue/issues and find solutions to treat. Here we are today with Dr. Patel with no uncertainty based on my husbands symptoms and pains orders a CT of his entire abdominal area. This is the only test that is precise enough to see very small stones as well as any obstructions or tumors. He is the first Doctor that I felt confident that would eliminate, diagnose and treat my husband without sending him away with an ambiguous condition. Dr. Patel is bright, deliberate with a warm bed side manner. The office staff goes over and above with a smile! When a CT was ordered we immediately went next door to imaging escorted by one of the amazing front desk ladies. When we let them know we would be out of town and then my hubby travels out of state Dr. Patel accommodated him with a same day review and agreement for next day follow up. The office is clean, professional and efficient. I hope for no one to have to land in a Urologist office but if necessary, Dr. Patel and staff are caring and will take great care of you!!

While I was waiting, another woman was trying the same thing. She grabbed the manager, too. It seems like sonething simple this far in advance should not be so difficult.

From the front desk staff, to the medical assistants, to the nurses who administer the chemo therapy I am so impressed by the kindness and compassion of all the staff members. I love that Dr. Chen is very honest without being aggressive. His bedside manner is amazingly positive considering he sees people struggling against cancer day in and day out. I don't know if people get to choose who their doctors are when it comes to cancer care but if someone were to get that opportunity I would highly recommend Dr. Chen over and over again. I know their office has multiple locations making it convenient for people all over Tucson, but honestly if you had to drive to see him and his staff I would not hesitate to tell you it is worth it.
