I am writing this review to warn prospective patients about the hostile environment at this oncology institute. Dealing with a cancer diagnosis or ongoing treatment is already incredibly overwhelming, but the staff here consistently makes the experience far worse. From the front office to the back office. The tone is consistently unfriendly, inpatient, and unwelcoming. It is obvious that the staff members are overworked, but instead of managing that stress professionally, they regularly take out their frustration on the patients. When you bring questions or basic administrative requests to them, you are met with exasperation or coldness rather than empathy. I'm stuck here because of my HMO insurance. Trying to reach someone in the office by phone is another nightmare. Your calls are almost never returned as you'll only be able to speak with the call center that is located in another state. I have had to drive to the office to communicate requests. I advise prospective patients to consider seeking care elsewhere if possible. read more

Office is very unorganized. Caring for cancer patients should be taken seriously and they don't return calls even when you leave messages to their supervisors. They don't get tests on time. I don't recommend them at all. Patients come with hope and faith that providers will take good care of them and it's so disappointing. They don't take their own calls, you have to leave messages and nothing gets done. very sad. read more

I do not recommend this oncology clinic. My experience was very disappointing. Communication was poor, appointments felt rushed, and I did not feel that my concerns were taken seriously. Cancer patients need compassionate, attentive care, and unfortunately that was not my experience here. My dad passed away on January 17 2025 . There is not one day I don't miss him. He had an extremely aggressive prostate cancer. The lady's at the front desk were courteous to my dad but the office unfortunately is not run well. They lack empathy or care for their patients. We called their office to let them know my dad was critical in the hospital and we texted his doctor, doctor Laporte , he never had the courtesy to call us . We know he could have not done anything for my dad but it would have showed that he cared. Now the office did call me to let me know that my dad had missed his appointment. At that point I did not bother calling the office, I did not feel I owed them anything as they knew he was in the hospital. Lack of compassion. I don't usually write reviews but Dr Khoury was extremely rude and dismissive. I had been scheduled to see a different doctor before but she left so I was scheduled with him the next day. He spoke over me and kept interrupting me, not letting me even talk about my symptoms at all. He didn't even read my blood work correctly when I had the copies in front of myself as well and told me I was wrong about my own results. He didn't even apologize for being incorrect when he'd realized his mistake. No empathy from him whatsoever. I have been struggling to function for MONTHS and waited to see a specialist who would actually help me just to wait 40 minutes for a call that only lasted about 5 minutes in total. Complete waste of time. If you can't even be polite or listen to your patients then why bother with this line of work? He's clearly got a fragile ego. read more

This place is RIDICULOUS! I've been on hold in the past 45 minutes (today was my 3rd time calling and waiting for 47 minutes before hanging up. I just cannot understand how this is even possible. No communication whatsoever! It's beyond upsetting. Doctor Arlene Yu is great but phone staff really needs to work on a better system because it's really frustrating. I don't recommend this place due to call times. If you're looking for communication I promise you none of the surrounding offices will answer your call right away either. Dr. Sami Ali is not a good oncologist. If, I could give him 0 stars I would. He has an attitude with people who don't speak English very well. Due to the language barrier he pays less attention to them. He also took too long on deciding what method would be best in attacking the type of tumor my family member had. His lack of urgency in my family members case led to time passing & the tumor growing. He also took too long in recommending a specialist for the type of tumor my family member had. Once he finally did send him to a specialist it was too late because his cancer was already advanced and the specialist couldn't do much for him anymore. So my family member never received any type of chemotherapy due to Sami Ali taking too long in recommending a specialist. So I would not recommend this oncologist and I would suggest going elsewhere. Yes, Dora the "office manager" was in contact with me. She is the one who told me that the office will no longer be able to assist me after 9/30/2024. That it was written on my chart. If it's on my chart that means the auth team should be able to see that. So how are they submitting fraudulent auths under my name? Dora is also the one who told me she would look into this when I called her about it. I never got a call back even when I called and left her a message for a follow up. read more

Not sure of protocol but It took 4 months for Dr. Khoury to see me because of him rescheduling due to last minute emergencies and patient care. I have only seen him once for consultation and not once did he check my breast or asked how I was feeling after radiation. Next appointment was changed to video call (from in person) again, no checking breast but focus on chemo. I got lectured for being upset and scared. I had some questions and left 5 messages for Dr. Khoury to call back, I had to wait a month for next appointment over the phone for him to respond and have been told by staff that doctors are not reachable but I can leave a message through front desk. Dr. Khoury seemed offended when I relayed a message from my radiation oncologist for records and mammogram to be order, telling me he has been doing this for years, that if my radiation oncologist wants records and mammogram that she should do it, then asked if I wanted another doctor. I said no but he switched me to Dr. Ehsan. An authorization for a diagnostic mammogram was sent, however I could not schedule because they had no records or scans of recent diagnosis. For one month I asked front desk to help with sending records but nothing was sent. I asked to speak with Dr. Ehsan before upcoming appointment and again was ignored. Less than 24 hours before my appointment date I get a call saying that Dr. Ehsan did not receive my mammogram so there was no reason to see me. Mind you I still haven't gotten orders to receive chemo or set up, my breast has not been examined or the side effects of the medication that I'm taking addressed. I never met Dr. Ehsan. read more

I was originally going to the center in Burbank, but after an awful experience with one of their doctors (please, do not say "if it spreads, it spreads" to a newly-diagnosed 30-year-old...just don't), I switched to the Glendale center. RIGHT OFF THE BAT, I felt much more comfortable here - the receptionists are warm, friendly, and welcoming, the place is well-lit and clean. I had to wait a little bit for my appointment, but it's fine. They were busy the afternoon I went in. My appointment was with Dr. Khoury, and he's fantastic. Also very friendly, thorough, patient, and informative. I've only had video calls with him since my first time there (oh COVID, how you change things), but each time, I've been super impressed with him and his demeanor, the office's follow-up calls, their willingness to work with me and solve whatever issues I've had with scheduling and insurance delays, and also the options for chemo pricing (which I know is a weird thing to say, but hey, this is America $$$$). I guess a final review will be in order if I survive cancer (no pressure, Oncology Institute Glendale...!), but so far, so VERY good. read more

The actual nurses giving you meds are fine but I have heard them gossiping about them messing up with a patient and having them come back. They were coming up with a lie to tell that patient so that they wouldn't get upset. How about just being accountable for your error??? How about being honest. I have been told many lies there, for example: "your insurance didn't authorize this", meanwhile my insurance says that they are the ones who withdrew. "Your meds have not arrived", insurance says that they have not ordered them. Insurance is asking me what happened to all my meds that were ordered a month ago? I don't know??? What the hell is going on with this place. People have a disease that is potentially life threatening and they are not taking this seriously. It's appalling to say the least. My insurance has dropped them and I can see why. Please don't write a response to my review because you really don't care, so stop pretending that you do. I have read the other reviews. I have had more errors and misinformation with this clinic than there is space to write. read more

I brought my grandma for her appointment front office guy and girl were very rude to us and the girls in the back were all so loud. And also the way they were laughing and cussing using false language made me really uncomfortable and I asked them next time if I can't make it if my grandma comes alone will someone who speaks Armenian help her out since my grandma doesn't know English they said the one Armenian girl that is working here is off for the week and honestly I don't get it 99% of Armenians live here and they cannot hire more than one Armenian that is not fair to the Armenian community and that's very rude. Glendale is full of Armenians and I think it would be fair for you guys to hire more workers that not only speak Mexican but Armenian as well because most patients are Armenian. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. originally I was supposed to go to this Glendale office. First time I called I was told there are no appointments available in any of their offices. Second time I called the receptionist transferred me to a nurse whom told me she saw no authorization even though I offered her my authorization number. She proceeded to say that I am to wait for them to call me. The submissiveness and rudeness I received was shameful. I waited a few more days since I received no call back and was finally given an appointment with the downtown Los Angeles office. A cancer patient like myself should be treated with kindness and compassion not rudeness. The receptionist Andrea ( the name she gave me when I asked her 3 times) it was like pulling teeth for her to offer her name. My appointment today was at 8 AM I got there a little before and the door was locked. While I was standing outside three people went into the office no one even acknowledged me. At 8:10 they let me in the office I talked to the receptionist and asked her if my appointment was at 8 o'clock she said someone was supposed to call me the day before because the doctor wouldn't be in till later that afternoon. I had been a patient of Dr. Stephen Huang at this office for follow-up breast cancer checkups for about 10 years. I developed new symptoms, which led my primary care doctor to refer me to the Oncology Institute for possible diagnosis of ovarian cancer. My HMO made an appointment with a Dr. Snell at their downtown Los Angeles office on June 24. On June 21, someone from the Oncology Institute called and said my appointment had been changed to Dr. Huang at the Glendale office. When I arrived, the staff told me Dr. Huang was on vacation, and I was supposed to report at the downtown office. I called to tell them I was on my way, and they said if I were more than 15 minutes late, I would have to reschedule. Because of traffic, it took more than 35 minutes to reach the other location. I sent their corporate office an email, describing my experience and requesting a written apology. As of today, I have not received an apology, or any acknowledgement of my complaint. Someone from their corporate office called me, and after more than 20 minutes on "ignore," I learned the call was related to appointments I had made for tests. Unfortunately, because of my health insurance, I have no alternative but to use this organization for my care I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone who has a choice. read more
