Came here to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2. Parking was easy to find and free. Came on a Tuesday evening. Tickets were 6 bucks. The seats were comfortable and recliners. The theater room is rather small and it has handicap accessible spaces. It has everything and anything a movie theater could need and will definitely consider coming back. This spot is also perfect for a date (yes a cheap date lol) because you all can go to dinner at the triangle right after. There are a few restaurants right outside of the theater. Love this place. They have matinee and $6 deals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I can watch latest movies less than $10. They keep things clean and the seats are so comfy. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this movie theater. I went with my kids and friends to watch Toy Story 5, expecting a fun family outing, but instead we left feeling unwelcome. While I was waiting outside the restroom for my friends, one of the employees stood staring at us with a very hostile and intimidating expression. We were simply waiting and were not causing any problems. The way he looked at us made us feel uncomfortable, judged, and unwelcome. We left feeling that we were treated differently because of our ethnicity. No one should have to feel unwelcome or discriminated against while simply enjoying a movie with their family. I hope management takes this complaint seriously, investigates what happened, and ensures that all customers are welcomed and treated with respect and dignity. read more

I honestly love this establishment and usually have a great experience here, but my visit on 6/17 was overshadowed by an interaction with the assistant manager, Brian Cephas (or whoever was serving in that role that day). I ordered nachos and went to the counter to ask for additional cheese because the portion of nachos provided was much larger than the amount of cheese included. I was told I would need to purchase extra cheese for $2.50, even though I had already paid an upcharge when placing my order. After paying for the extra cheese, the staff accidentally prepared a full order of nachos instead. Since the extra nachos were simply going to be thrown away, I politely asked if I could have them rather than see them wasted. Unfortunately, the assistant manager responded with a great deal of attitude and was dismissive throughout the interaction. While I understand that policies are policies, there was no need for the rude and disrespectful manner in which the situation was handled. The food was great, but customer service is just as important. For an otherwise excellent establishment, this interaction left a very disappointing impression. read more

I came here to watch the Minecraft movie with some friends, and it was easy to reserve a ticket online. The theater was spacious enough, with automated-reclining seats. While the movie was boring, they had two claw machines with one being the cute reversible octopus stuffed animals. We did encounter a strange experience while waiting in line to purchase concessions, but that has nothing to do with the theater itself. It was just a bit uncomfortable going to the restroom due to that particular incident/event. read more

Ms. Maria Orozco (GM), I hope that you see this to make some necessary changes at this location. We went to see The Hunger Games tonight. Perhaps 2/3 into the movie, we smell smoke/gas/sparks in the theater. People started leaving. Unfortunately, in 2023, when you see a crowd leave, it's wise to leave as well. A manager comes over. We expect him to be a leader. To communicate with the crowd. We only overhear him asking someone on the phone should he evacuate the theater and then he disappears and does not say a word to any of us. There was no plan. No remedy. No nothing. This disturbance interrupted our experience and left many of us perplexed. Many gave up and left. Some returned to the room and others like myself wanted to be comped for the ticket/movie we were unable to finish and it was reasonable to expect perhaps a 2nd ticket for our trouble and inconvenience. What actually occurred? Customers knocking on the box office door and being ignored for quite some time and once we did speak to the assistant manager, we were told that we could only get a refund because that's what Corporate said he could do. Nothing more. He"ll get in trouble. He said Corporate said whatever happened was not the theater's fault so it is what it is. A refund was the best that can be done and you had to have your paper ticket still on you. Preposterous! Once my ticket is scanned, into the garbage it goes. And not the theater's fault? Is this the appropriate position and statement to give to customers in this situation? This kind of chaos and unprofessionalism would never happen at an AMC or Regal. They know how to treat their customers. Here, they have no concept of customer service. It's ridiculous that they made us feel like beggars. I will not be back at this location. The way this situation was handled tonight was unacceptable and abysmal. What if it was a serious emergency? There would have been no leadership or communication on site. This is a very dangerous way to operate. The team on site needs training and empowerment to make wise decisions for different scenarios. This is clearly not the current set up. read more

Where else in Orange County can you go watch a new-released movie for $5 ??? I haven't been to this movie theater since whatever it was called a decade ago when there was also a Barnes & Nobles bookstore here at Triangle Square. I went this past Sunday with a friend to check out Guardians of the Galaxy III - and I was starting to wonder what condition the theater might be if they're selling tickets for $5 each to see a movie that was released just a week or so ago. What's awesome is that it's matinee, but we didn't have to go super early - our showtime was 4:35pm, which is still relatively well into the day. Parking is easy - at least considering it was also Mother's Day when we went. The seats are comfy - with just the right amount of recline so you're not creeping into the personal space of the person sitting behind you. Unfortunately, the theater wasn't really temperature controlled - I usually pack a light jacket because theaters tend to be cold - but I think the offset to the $5 matinee ticket is that the A/C wasn't running. Our room was warm to hot - not warm to cold. On the brightside, what you save on tickets - you can spend at their concessions stand. I picked up nachos ($7) and a water ($5). The movie was great - sound, picture, lighting - it didn't feel like a bargain experience, other than the warmer than usual climate, it was a quality experience. Would probably go back. Shoutout to the box office clerk, Ashlee - who was friendly and efficient in exchanging my friend's online tickets he had bought for the Anaheim location instead of the Costa Mesa one. She was able to switch our passes for her location without issue. read more

I really love Starlight since tickets are cheaper on Sunday and Tuesday! The location near me wasn't showing the movie I wanted to see so I went here after work. Parking is free - I got lost around the plaza, the building is a bit run down so you have to take detours. The theater is very small and a bit older, but the seats are large and recline all the way back! I would definitely book tickets online ahead of time since the seats are more limited. read more

First off let me say, the staff here are so nice. Every time I've been we have great conversation and they are very fast in moving the line along to make sure everyone gets to their snacks in a timely manner. The ambiance is also nice, and when you enter it has that classic theater vibe. The only downside is the theaters themselves. Some that I've been in have the audio too low, some have seats that have obviously been very used (although I believe they have been putting in nicer ones), and one screen is even stained (I believe in theater 8 maybe) which took me out of the viewing experience. Overall, the staff and ambience are both awesome, I just wish the theaters themselves were a little more up to date. read more

Haven't been to this theater in years and went this week with a friend. It felt old and dirty, like walking into a time warp from the 90's. Then the quality of the movie itself was fuzzy and very blurry! It felt like we were watching a bootleg version of the film. And it wasn't just my eyes, my friend saw the same thing. It was bad enough that we asked someone who worked there if something was wrong with the Focus. They said they check on it but never did. Also, the bathrooms are dirty, and the toilet seats are all scraped up! Won't be back. read more

The theater leaves a bit to be desired compared to others in the area, but their commitment to early 2000s nostalgia brings you back to your childhood. This theater could probably triple its business if they would invest what would likely need to be $1500 in signage so you can find the damn place. One would assume that when you get off of any floor of the two or three elevator elevators that service triangle Square You would have signs directing you to the two things that bring people to triangle Square, the movies and restaurants. Everything else is incidental to the center. I enjoyed the theater experience greatly what I didn't enjoy was the wasted 30 minutes tracing all over the place trying to figure out where the theater is. And half the people that I stopped and asked didn't know either. So clearly it wasn't just me as for their soda, pop and popcorn. It's the best and it's reasonably priced and the theaters are very reasonably priced, but I would suggest they raise the prices by a dollar or two and invest that money in signage. It will come back to them immediately in more visitors to their theater. read more

Starlight Triangle Square Cinemas is a nice little movie theater in Costa Mesa. The parking situation is a little confusing if you aren't already familiar with how it works. There's covered parking and different levels. Each level appears to lead to different restaurants and/or destinations, and level 3 leads to the cinema. We drove around a bit in the parking structure trying to find the movie theater parking. Eventually we found it. Look for the signs that are telling you where to go. We found the right walking path eventually. Also just as an fyi, the elevators are out of order. Annoying. But that isn't the cinema's fault. When you come out of the parking structure, turn right and you will be at the front of the movie theater. It was raining cats and dogs, so we hurried over to the front. There were lots of puddles outside and walking on the way there. My boyfriend saved my life multiple times that night lol Anyway, I hit the restroom while he grabbed a coke flavored Icee. Then we found the number for our movie. We saw a horror movie called Megan. It was decent. Kept our attention for the movie. The chairs were fine and mildly comfortable- similar to any movie theater seating. The Icee was good. No complaints. read more

Love coming here for movies in the mornings. They're always super cheap. $5 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday before 6pm and $6 before noon all the other days of the week. Their doorman, I think his name was Caiden at opening 11am, today he says before I enter, "can I look in your purse"? It seems intrusive he does that when I am here almost every week? Honestly, I just rolled my eyes after so many times unsure why he keeps doing that. Once I brought a water bottle for my son inside my son's backpack, he is on the Spectrum, but that place is always good to those with disabilities. And yet, the older lady in back of me with the same sized purse, he didn't ask to see it? She even said, "hah, he didn't check me"! Is It me or discrimination? It doesn't feel very good when I come in with my children and he does this to me whenever I get him. But, whatever? Go figure. read more

At first glance this theater is very unassuming. But once you get in line for popcorn, rack up your first Starlight rewards, and slug down some Diet Coke, the charm sets in. Sure there are newer and nicer theaters, but all lack the nostalgic energy of a theatre that's getting by day by day, movie by movie, in a space where rent must be astronomical. First of all i think i should never get hype and think that any upcoming horror film will give me the same vibe as hereditary because i think it's the only film that gave me sleepless nights. Second of all i think this film is genuinely a classic raw crime slasher horror thriller film i really expected a lot and i got satisfied like 80% of what i expected and i think it does deserve a five stars because of the acting mind blowing what an act from cage my God i think he should do more role like this it's so scary his face and the voice and his way of edging people he deserves a lot. And maika wow wow wow she just acted like the exact core of the character which made this film to feel what if we are there in that real incident. The movie is clear and short way of opening up our fears. It does have a slow burn but after a while it just goes too fast and keeps you on the edge of the seat. read more

It was a great afternoon bringing the grandkids to the Starlight Cinemas at Triangle Square in Costa Mesa. Matinee and senior's pricing makes it even better. We parked at the second level with an easy walk and entry to the theater. We did not have to worry about long lines or crowds to see the Super Mario Bros movie. There are no lines buying our fresh tub of popcorn with one refill and tall cups of ice-cold cherry flavored icees. We entered room 5 and found our seats. The chairs were clean and comfortable, and we had a clear view of the large screen. The sound system was able to the task. This is a nice theater. We enjoyed the movie, and we were amazed at the overall cleanliness and seeing ample staff that care. No, I am not a rewards member, but I will become one before we come back for other movies playing at this Starlight Theater in the future. read more

This has become our family's go-to movie theater because of the $5 matinees and deals. The theater is in good shape and fairly clean. I'd recommend getting the app or ordering tickets ahead of time because it can get crowded. The concession stand also is pretty decent and has good prices compared to other places. Only downside is I hate the parking at Triangle Square. It's free parking but the structure is a pain. But it's worth it not to have to pay $15/person for a movie. read more
