I came to see a movie with my bf on 11/25/24 to see Venom at 7:30pm. I bought my tickets on fandango so of course I skip the line and go inside . I'm excited and ready to get popcorn and a icee and as I receive my physical tickets , the employee says " I need to check your bag" . It caught me SO off guard . Normally I would ask questions but because it was so random and I was so off guard , I was like uh ok..and after my bag was searched , my bf and I look at eachother wondering why ??? We've been coming here for YEARS and never have I ever had my bag searched at this theatre or any theatres before . The family in front of us didn't get their bags searched , and neither did the family behind us . And they both had bigger bags than what I had . I get it .. for multiple reasons like outside food, drugs , weapons and more can be brought in and normally , I wouldn't be so upset at a bag search. But because I was the ONLY one who got searched , it bothered me so much. I am still bothered 2-3 days later . I sent an email and got a one sentence response basically saying it's policy and if I have a problem with it to call this number . So here I am , writing a review . I personally see it as discrimination and if they encourage employees to search people , then they should be SEARCHING EVERYONES bags and pockets . Get a security guard and a metal detector while you're at it . Your employee felt so threatened by a lil 5'2 24 yr old with pink and purple hair , a gray crewneck sweatshirt ,black Nike sweats , and crocs . Clearly threatened enough to search my tiny purse that can barely fit my phone and wallet . I'm baffled and next time I'll make sure to hide everything in my pockets since they pick and choose customers for BAG searches .its none of your damn business what's on me and what's in my bag . $5.00 movies on Sunday before 6:00. AWESOME! We came here last week to see Top Gun, the fist time we had been to the movies in two years, since COVID hit. It's a nice theater, good sound & friendly employees. No broken chairs. No trash on the theater floor. I had forgotten how enjoyable it is to see a movie in a theater. My fiancé and I used to go to this theater a lot. We haven't gone recently. Our experiences here have varied. It really depends on the audience. I feel like my biggest gripe is that there isn't any space between the doors to enter the theater and the seating area. Because of that whenever people leave the theater light comes in and it can pull you out of the experience. Then almost every time we've gone lately there is at least one person vaping in the theater. The smoke in the theater is so distracting. I'm not sure if they are nicotine vapes or cannabis vapes. At least sit in the back of the theater if you are going to do it. For your cannabis vape peeps just take an edible or something. Usually kicks in right in the middle of the movie (pro tip). Had to shower after the movie. I saw a film in theater 3 and my partner and I left with black pieces from the pleather seats in my hair, on my back and all down the back of my shirt. I even watched someone walk it in front of me with stains from the seats on her upper back. So gross. read more

Came here to watch Despicable Me 4 with my friend. Tickets were $10 each and the movie was really enjoyable. The staff were constantly coming in and out of the theater throughout the movie which made me somewhat uneasy. The chairs are pretty comfy. Two stars are really for their seat conditions. Came to watch a movie on Sunday $5. Love the price but I guess you got what you paid. I was at theater 5. The light was on...seats are just looking so filthy. Literally gross me out. You can see the color of the seats is very off. And the seats smell really bad. I felt so uncomfortable. I guess luckily ppl's popcorns cover over the smelly seats. Seats aren't stadium seating so when you order the ticket you prob want to choose a seat that no one is in front of you. I've never had a bad experience - the staff is chill, the popcorn and concession stand is good, the seats could be a little more comfy, but they offer all the latest movies and have matinee - $5-$6 tickets (depending on the movie) when you buy for the 11am showing. read more

Thanks to MoviePass' E-Ticketing option, I've begun to frequent this theater more often. I can reserve seats in advance, I'm able to watch all of the new releases without any restrictions, and I don't have to deal with the anxiety of not knowing whether or not I can check-in to a movie once I arrive at a theater that doesn't do E-Ticketing. This theater is located in what's now been re-branded as The Triangle, and it definitely needs a facelift, remodel, or renovation. But because it's an older theater at a lesser known center, it doesn't have the same amount of foot traffic. Tickets are $12, but discounted to $6 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Each viewing room is pretty small, with a max capacity of probably around 100. It's not stadium seating either, so you'll definitely need to get a seat further in the back so you don't have to crane your neck up as far to watch the movie. The seats are passable for comfort, with ample legroom, but don't recline at all. Sound and picture are provided by Dolby and the equipment lacks the level of refinement found a bigger theaters, but the picture and sound quality are clear and enjoyable enough. If you're watching a movie in theater 3, this one comes equipped with Dolby Atmos, which is truly surround sound. There are speakers in the ceiling and the sound can be moved throughout the room to give you a more immersive experience, although I'm not entirely sure how many movies are able to fully take advantage of this technology. All the staff is fairly nice and helpful, the theater is well maintained and there's a good variety of concessions. read more

Starlight cinemas has friendly staff, is conveniently located at Triangle Square, and most of the time has more availability in terms of seating than other theaters. Their ticket prices are very inexpensive so this is a great place to go to see the latest movies on a budget. All seats are reserved so you have assigned seating as is with most theaters these days. With that said, the seats inside the theater could definitely use some renovation. They felt very, very worn and dated, and sitting there, I was not really comfortable with the thought of how old they felt. It gave an unclean feeling (I'm not saying they were unclean but it gave that vibe). I'm not sure if all of their movie rooms are the same or if some are upgraded, but the movie theater I sat in... I would not want to sit in again. If they upgraded their seats to newer seats (they don't even need to recline) this place would be a lot better. Lots of potential! read more

Located conveniently on the 2nd floor of the Triangle Square Plaza. The parking is for free and the theater relatively clean. I'm just not a big fan of the seatings. The screen is too high and when you watch a movie you actually have to look up. I'm not sure if that's the norm but I'm used to having elevated seats like in an opera where you look down on the screen. But besides that this cinema is great. read more

Just left Triangle Square after watching the new Top Gun Movie. I have to say this is the worst movie theater I've ever to! I never thought I'd have to give a review on a movie theater before until today... When my husband and I walked into the theater it smelled of musty BO and thrift store. We haven't been to this theater in yrs but it was bargain Wed and wanted to save some money. We usually go to Bella Terra and will always from now on! We figured when the movie started in 8 minutes the air would kick on. It started late and the air never turned on? By the time everyone piled in I could smell every one's body odors around me! And it was hot and humid my husband said he was hot to so I decided to go tell the manager. When I got to the front he said he'd check to make sure it was on. 30 minutes into the movie I couldn't breath and was sweating. I got up went back to usher and asked him to tell the manager the air wasn't on? The manager came out started to yell at me that it was on!! And proceeded to tell me nobody else came to complain. Even though everyone around me was whispering that they were hot. The theater is a breeding ground for germs especially Covid with no fresh air! Plus it's dirty and old! Warning DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SICK AND SWEAT THROUGH A TWO HOUR MOVIE! I was really bummed because we already invested 30 minutes into the movie and didn't want to leave. An older movie theater that Moviepass didn't restrict any of the movies for like Mission Impossible. Staff was pretty nice, parking structure is free, and they have e-tickets here so you can reserve your seat on your phone and skip the line to get your physical ticket at the door. Very small theater since it only seemed to have 5 or so theater rooms. Seats were old-school and rooms weren't big like Regals. Still comfortable and had a good view of the screen. However, if you come late, good luck finding your seat because the row letters don't glow in the dark. read more

The movie theater is on the second floor of the Triangle, which is at the corner of Harbor and Newport Blvd, so you can't miss it coming off the 55 freeway. Parking in the Triangle structure is free! Next to the theater is Saddle Ranch. The escalators are currently in construction, but you can use the elevator. Box office employees are nice and know what they need to do. Bathrooms are well kept, clean. Seats are cushioned and will lean back if you push against it. No issues in general. Another promotion they offer is a $7 deal for classic movies on certain Mondays at 7 pm. For Christmas 2015, you can catch A Christmas Story, Jingle All The Way, and Home Alone :) Maybe you can book early for groups. read more

I came here for their $5 movie night to see the Mr Rodgers movie "Won't you be my neighbor" when it came out. For the price and location to where I live? it is a convenient option but not a theatre I would frequent or bring others to catch a flick. The theatre was ok, a little small and what really turned me off about this place was how filthy it was. The seats and floor were very dirty with food, popcorn and stains all over. It looked like it had never been cleaned or swept and I was afraid to touch anything. Once upon a time Triangle Square used to be the bomb when it comes to places to hang out. Then metro point, Irvine Spectrum, and The Block came along and this quaint little place lost its luster. However, we're here to talk about this little theatre. Throughout all the years cinema has been continuous with its business. Yes this little Edwards Cinema lasted for as long as it could until a growing contender called Starlight Cinemas bought it. All is well with this place because it's the only business that's bringing people in. The movie theatre still has the comfortable seating, adjustable arm rests, and clean theatres. Cheap for sure especially on Tuesdays they have awesome deals. All you hangover people check it out because the midnight showing for Hangover 2 is 5 bucks. read more

$5 for all movies before 6pm-good. Not allowing your customers to get refreshments or use the restrooms until 20 minutes before the movie-hard to grasp. We go early for a reason, and I don't like waiting in long lines if I can avoid it. I do understand waiting outside until the theater is prepped and ready but we should be allowed to....okay, I took a deep breath, stopped, and looked around. So the atmosphere is very comfortable, it's clean, and the popcorn (with the ability to add different salt flavors and/or butter) is better than Disneyland. Sure the employees look a little unhappy but having to work on a holiday day might make even the best of us a bit cranky. They are well-staffed and prompt and courteous. It's amazing. When I started writing this review I had 1/2 a star rating in mind, but while typing, I'm actually moved to a solid four. This is a better than average tHeater. read more
