Leave it to a person from out of state to write a comprehensive one sentence review about a place…read morethat has been standing in the same spot for over a hundred years. With that being said let a former townie explore this place for you. This place was formerly the Palace Hotel. Not a very festive place to frequent. And definitely not as clean. Now with new owners, and a huge renovation. This place is amazing to visit for lunch or dinner now. The main area for the dining experience is huge, colorful and welcoming. They've used every space they could in here. The bar is a typical U shaped bar with several brews on tap, full capability to make you a mixed drink and fountain drinks as well. Mugs are stored in the freezer to make sure you get that frosted experience. The bar is located to the front, the room left over is filled with tables for dining. Enough seating in here for you to be able to have a party here. The food, for lack of better terming, is amazing. Everything seems to be homemade. My family had an array of items during this experience. I opted for the hot turkey sandwich which came with mashed potatoes and everything covered in gravy. Eating this dish made me feel like I was home eating a home cooked meal, turkey cut just right, lumpy mashed potatoes, and gravy galore. The burger my dad got was huge and cooked to his liking. Everyone in my party had fries except me. The fries are fresh cut, and you definitely can tell here. And the portion size definitely is huge. Enough for you to know you should stop eating, but you just can't stop. As far as the hotel part, sixteen up to date rooms with flat screen TVs and private baths. Prices aren't too bad for a night either.

Stayed here last night while travelling through on a motorcycle trip. This place is difficult to…read morefind if you don't know what you're looking for but it's a hidden gem. Rooms are clean. Flat screen TVs on the walls in the rooms. The restaurant/bar on the main floor has excellent homemade food. Reasonably priced too. I would recommend this hotel.

The Inn is interesting only in that it is an historic structure. It was once probably quite lovely. But you enter from the parking lot into a hall cluttered with stuff. Indeed, this is an indicator of what the rest of the inn is like--years of hoarded items, stuff, and more stuff, everywhere. Vacuums, bicycles, spare wood, all stuck in corners, an office overflowing with junk, tables covered in old newspapers. The whole place needs a deep cleaning and cleanout. The Inn was stuffy, like the windows had not been opened in years. Musty, dank, hard to breathe. With all that dirt and clutter, I would not be surprised if there were rodents and roaches. The room was small. The decor was old and dusty. The windows were filthy. As another reviewer mentioned, the bathroom was likely once a closet, and contained a tiny standup shower and toilet. And then of course, there was no hot water. The many pictures on the Inn's website illustrate wonderful breakfast options. However, we were told that breakfast was at 830am only and we were told what would be served--eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and fruit cup. The breakfast we received consisted of disgusting industrial powdered scrambled eggs, white toast, and cold hash browns. There was bacon and fruit cups. The coffee was absolutely undrinkable and one of our party received their coffee in a dirty mug. At breakfast, after one of our party endured a cold shower, we told the staff there was no hot water. The innkeeper told us that the hot water heater was being worked on. No offer of refund or compensation due to the lack of hot water. The owner basically said there was nothing he could do--which meant there was nothing he wanted to do to make things right. So much for customer service. We understand that keeping an inn of this size running well is challenging. The inn's website belies what the inn actually is like. The reality is that the inn is dirty, musty, cluttered, and not kept up. Stay anywhere else.

Four luggage carts are located in the hotel vestibule in a small area to the left. Outdoor entrances, other than the main entrance, require a room key to enter the building. Reception and the lobby make a lovely first impression. It's a large area that feels both open and cozy. We book thru the Bonvoy app and are able to check-in remotely with our 'eta' so staff are ready. All staff we met were personable and friendly. Our King bedroom was located on the ground floor. I love that the room has 'wood' floors. So much easier to keep clean imho. The room was a good size with a desk/work station, small TV, dresser and a space to lay your open suitcase or use as a seat with storage space below. The closet is deep with quality hangers, an iron & board and a luggage rack. I really appreciate both the luggage rack and the flat open furniture surface for luggage. Two travelers, two suitcases. It's the small things that make travel more enjoyable. There's also a hook and a shelf outside the closet for small luggage and a jacket or two. The blackout curtains did their job as expected. The sheets were crisp. Pillows are feather. You can request a feather free room when reserving on the app. There is a 'notes' area before you 'reserve' the room. Heat/AC control is on the wall near the closet. An area in the room vestibule holds a small fridge, coffee service and microwave. Both the coffee maker and microwave were clean. Bedside table had four plugs for your electronics and a low shelf for a small bag. The bathroom is also a good size with large walk-in shower and plenty of vanity counter space. There are three hooks in there too! Towels for three were good quality, soft and absorbant. Multi-use personal care items are mounted in the shower stall and there is a large shelf in the stall for your personal items. The handle to turn on water is near the stall entrance which is great because you can adjust the water temperature before stepping into the shower. Pressure was great, water temp plenty hot and it drained very well. Breakfast was also excellent. Staff were constantly keeping an eye on messes being made by guests (pro tip: the sugar goes *in* the coffee cup) and restocking. The cereals, hot & cold are grouped with milk, yogurts, fresh and canned fruits, sugar, spices, etc., etc. The best cereal set-up I've seen in a while. Two other breakfast sections include hot items (eggs, turkey sausage) plus add ins like hot sauce and grated cheese, etc., and a toaster items section including bagels, english muffins and scones plus all the expected add ons like jelly, cream cheese, etc. The sectioned display areas really help with the flow of guests at the buffet. The toaster worked great. The breakfast dining area is large, sunny and clean. Lots of space for guests of different sized parties. One TV is on news type programming all day and night. The coffee station seems to be available all day and includes tea and cocoa. A small gym is available for guests use as is a small indoor pool. Both require a room key for entry. The pool has a handicap lift. At the time of this review (June 2025) this is absolutely a comfortable, safe place to stay. A good restaurant is right next door. A shopping 'mart' (you know the one) and fuel are up the road a few blocks.
