Dirty room and bed bugs! Booked Cabin 48 for September 9 -…read more11, 2022. Called on September 8 to inquire about an early check-in and was told we could check-in after noon on the 9th, because the cabin was being cleaned as we were speaking - great! Arrived around 1:30 pm, check-in went well and then things started to go downhill. - Opened the door to the cabin and there was a really strong musty smell as if the cabin had been locked up for a while after being exposed to campfire smoke. - The kitchen counter had dried up liquids on it. We brought paper towels and cleaned off the counter. - The bed came with a fitted sheet on the boxspring and the mattress, but we were told we had to bring our own linens, so we put a quilted mattress cover, a sheet, a comforter and two pillows over their fitted sheet. - Left the cabin to meet our friends and returned around 10;30 pm. Washed up and jumped in bed. - Woke around 7:00 am, grabbed coffee and told my wife that I slept badly. I told her I was dreaming that I had bugs crawling on my body and face. We both laughed until I went back in the room to make the bed and discovered brown and red splats all over our linens and pillows. No clue what was happening at this time. Pulled the bed from the wall and found trash on the floor (hearing plugs, toilet paper and tons of dust). Pulled our linens off and pulled off the campground's fitted sheets and there they were. Bed bugs on the corners of the boxspring and mattress. Called the office immediately and the owner came to the cabin. We were calm and cordial with her about the situation and she was the same with us. She refunded us all our money and told us to throw everything in a dryer for 30 minutes and then wash it in hot water to get rid of the bugs. But then she said "I guess I'll have to call the exterminator AGAIN. Obviously this is a repeat problem. Also it was obvious that she didn't clean the cabin very well for our arrival or change their fitted sheets or she would have seen the bed bugs. We dried, washed and re-dried all our clothing. We were not confident that we would not spread the bugs into our home with the bedding as we feared the bugs could be in between the quilted cover and inside the pillows - not going to chance it, so we threw them away. We spent considerable time spraying all our luggage with denatured alcohol. In the end, although we were reimbursed for the stay, we are out of several hundred dollars for replacement linens, gasoline, food goods, and cleaning materials in addition to time spent remedying something we didn't cause. Top this all off with bed bug bites that cover our lower legs/feet and spots on our necks, backs and arms and are still there 11 days later. We'll be contacting the owners to inquire of their willingness to reimburse us for our losses too.

If you like a campground without bathrooms or showers, muddy roads, sites that flood when it…read morerains, minimal campground activities where the owners play favorites with the different cliques.... this is the campground for you! The owner unprofessionally, verbally attacked a fellow camper on my site July 4th weekend. He accused the camper of driving his golf cart too fast which he was not. He was loud, cursing and nearly caused a physical altercation. There were several children and adults present when this occurred and witnessed this. They also now charge $5 to dump your poop tank but others are rumored to do it illegally. There are numerous weekends in the summer when there are NO activities planned. There is a quiet time which is not enforced when the owners are involved. There is also a speed limit that the owner doesn't follow when he speeds around in his truck or a side by side filled with his family and friends. The pool is small and not always cleaned as it should be. They have pumpkins around Halloween every year that they "borrow" at night from neighboring farms every year. We did met some great friends while there, others not so much. ****As you can see there are a bunch of 5 star reviews posted after I made this original review. We have spoken to 2 of the people and they stated that someone used their names under fake accounts to post reviews, possibly the same with the others**** Worst mistake I ever made was moving to this campground but so happy to be out of there now!

Visited this state park for the first time earlier this month and had a blast!…read more I parked at what I think is the main lot, up above the mill itself. I didn't take a tour of the mill (which the park volunteers and staff do offer throughout the day) but I did walk through it and read the information in it about the history of the mill. Definitely enjoyed exploring and learning. That said, I was really there for the trails, so I spent most of my day hiking. I took a loop trail down from the mill and back (with a detour up a short trail to some falls) and it was great! I love being outside and I love a good challenge; these trails were not paved or even at all and I had a great workout navigating them. During hydration breaks I'd find a nice rock to sit on by the water, which was wonderful. It was noisy as heck by the mill because of the families, but the further out I got the more peaceful it got. Definitely met my goal of unplugging for a day during my trek on the trails. I want to come back in the future and begin to try to walk the Slippery Gorge Trail, as it sounds like the gorge is another beautiful part of the park. But that is definitely a long term goal, because that trail is not a short one! I loved visiting this park and I'd be back for sure. To everyone else, PLEASE remember water and wear the proper footwear - while I enjoyed my walk in the park, these trails are definitely not a walk in the park!
