I go every year to Starlight Circle and I feel like every year it gets better and better. I recommend going early or going later in the evening because it can get crowded and busy. You are able to drive around the neighborhood and see the lights or you can walk on the side walk. They have parking on the streets that are close to the houses. Some of the houses sell hot chocolate or kettle corn and it's delicious! Everyone there is absolutely nice and friendly! It's so much fun to go with friends or family especially with someone who has never gone before. If you have never been here before, I highly recommend it!!

    Welcome to Starlight Circle

I'm glad that this neighborhood is nearby where maybe 60-80% of the homes go that extra mile to share their creativity and holiday spirit. Kudos for putting out both spooky Halloween and festive Christmas displays. You can drive through the circle, but many folks park nearby and roam this version of Candy Cane Lane at their own pace. On Halloween the sidewalks are bustling with families and trick-or-treating kids of all ages. Maybe a house is showing the Thriller music video, then people suddenly start doing the song choreography. Another house might have someone hidden in the shadows to jump scare another unsuspecting group. During December, the crowds return to Starlight Circle to enjoy holiday lights and winter wonderland themes. Availability varies as vendors have snacks for sale. During a recent visit, we saw the familiar kettle corn and hot cocoa tents set up in their driveways. There was another home offering cotton candy. At the intersection from El Nopal we saw a hot dog street cart and another sidewalk vendor selling corn. Thank you to the folks that keep this local tradition going for the rest of us to appreciate.

This is a neat event and was more than I thought it would be. I figured I'd be looking at Christmas lights on houses but this is a full blown event where vendors and home owners are selling goods on their property. Hot dogs, hot coco, knick knacks, etc. It can get really busy here with parking so if you decide to walk this event there's parking nearby at Santana High. You can also do a drive by of the lights but expect traffic lines in and out of the area.

The houses are decorated so nicely and some local residents sell items such as hot chocolate, desserts, and other things!

All I am saying is, if your family hops in SUV to drive all the way across town, just make sure you understand it is ONE house, (1), singular..not plural. PERIOD. Just ONE house that does lights. Now, that 1 house is an incredible sight to see, as you can tell from the photos and videos posted online and on yelp. They support a wonderful cause, we donated in the cute donation box set up in the front - the music is wonderful, the lighting goes perfectly - it is a synchronized light show - I mean, they did it right.... I just wanted to clarify for anyone that turns right on BELARDO and thinks...why are none of these houses lit up, why is it so dark, why does no one have lights...well...ya gotta keep on driving until ya get to the one house. Perhaps change the name to BELARDO HOME or HOME ON BELARDO or Belardo light show. That's all, carry on. xoxo

Could be the greatest city in the world IF:…read more 1. Gillespie Field blew up 2. The sherrifs stopped acting like John Wayne 3. It wasn't so dang hot all the time I recently bought my first home here after living in downtown San Diego for some 6 years. I gave up the fun night-time activities and coastal access to become a home owner. All in all there are a lot of plusses in Santee: Restaurants Galore Shopping Galore Clean-Cut Neighborhoods (most areas) Recreational Activities Fishing/Hiking/Camping Outdoors Activities Ease of Access to everything 18 minutes to Downtown. Trolley Access Multiple Freeway Accesses Sports Leagues/Teams Tons of Schools Friendly/Down to Earth People The BAD: Gillespie Field is a damn nightmare. LOUD Buzzer planes all hours of the day. Low Flying Sherrif's helicopters and News Helicopters weird hours in the night. It is a complete noise nuisance and is making me very aggitated and stressed out. Also, it gets Very hot here. Even though it's less than 18 minutes to Downtown SD, it gets some 10 degrees warmer, and there are never clouds here (nice, but makes everything so hot with sun beating down all day). All in all I'm thrilled to own a home in California and live in a mostly classy town, but wish someone would destroy Gillespie Field or enforce their noise abadement rules and make sure the air traffic is not out of control, and make it more active over NON residential areas!!!

They convert your reputation to make you seem the aggressor when the opposite is true. They ignore their friends long time negative behaviors to support turning your efforts into their accounts without anyone knowing it. They do hand professional handoffs when they should be doing city business. BEWARE! DO NOT BRING INNOCENT UNSUSPECTING CHILDREN TO THIS CITY. I HAVE PROOF. I am not some disgruntled grandmother type who is unhappy with their aging issues. I was a Pediatrics nurse trained in cardiology at Greens Clinic, La Jolla. I worked Pediatrics at UCLA in home health baby hospice care. This is a reckless place to raise children. Those who were raised here have not experienced differently. You can get health care here, BUT that's because you are going to NEED it after they are done buzzing your home. An El Cajon Superior Court Traffic Judge warned me!!! He was not shy about it either. He was bold as blazes!! He asked me a few questions about the behavior of the Sheriffs and IMMEDIATELY RELEASED MY TICKET. After that I got a legal aide app I pay for yearly! But who should NEED to spend that type money just to still be treated unfairly! This is as close to MOB rule as you will ever experience. The fellowships will just wink behind your back. If you have the choice of a different community use it! Simple advice DO NOT live in a city where someone in the power base has what sounds like a made up last name like 'dare' or 'stall.' That is an underworld tactic to wink at each other with while your family suffers.

So, this was our first time paddlin' in, and the place was packed with people--always a good sign, right? But, bro, the food? It didn't quite catch the wave for me. I went for the lasagna, and man, the portion was smaller than I hoped for. My wife went with the chicken Parmesan, but the chicken was kinda chewy, like it got tossed around in the surf a bit too long. And the bread? A little dry, like it needed a splash of ocean water to bring it back to life. First impression? Just average, my friends. I was really hoping for an epic Italian feast, but it felt more like a small ripple than a big wave. I'll give it a three for the vibe and the crowd, but the chow just didn't hang ten for us. While it was a nice experience, it felt a bit underwhelming compared to other displays we've seen. Not every house participated, and the ones that did featured fairly standard Christmas lighting, with a few exceptions. Came on a Friday evening. There was parking scattered. It was 1 mile walk with the loop and cut outs! That said, there were about 4-5 homes that truly stood out and went all out with their displays--those were stunning and definitely stole the show. The atmosphere was pleasant for a walk, and you could easily enjoy the entire display within an hour. Walking is definitely the way to go; driving doesn't provide the same immersive experience. A lovely bonus was the handful of homes selling hot cocoa, cookies, baked goods, coffee, and even pup cups for dogs! We enjoyed some hot chocolate and appreciated the sweet photo opportunities set up by a few houses. Overall, it was a fun evening, but compared to other areas, like the Scripps Ranch light display where every house participates with incredible themes, this felt quieter and less cohesive. However, we greatly appreciate the effort of those who did participate and enjoyed the festive spirit of the evening. A solid 4 stars!
