I've had their water bread at O Tacho, across the street - it's a nice bread, with a chewier exterior. Their kaiser buns comes in packages of 6 and 12; a package of 6 is $1.30. The buns have a very flaky exterior and leave a ton of crumbs everywhere when you start eating it - not my fav. The turnovers (comes in apple and cherry) are HUGE ($1.25 each). I chose the apple turnover and I really enjoyed it since it wasn't overly sweet like the typical turnover. The egg or custard tarts are sold in a larger size if you want to buy in bulk but they are also sold prepackaged 6 smaller portions for $5.50. They're not the prettiest looking tarts since there's some caramelized spots on the custard (it looks burnt but it's not). The tarts remind me of creme brulee that's been encased in a tougher pastry shell - it's a sweet little treat that's worth trying! They are open 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. It's old school so no debit or credit, just plain ol' deniro is accepted.

You can also ask about frequent buyer card (if they still have it) for even more savings. They roast their coffee in house, and large number of patrons guarantees that it is always fresh. I also recently discovered that you can pre-order your beans in advance. The advantage, ones you know what type of beans you like, is that you'll have your favourite beans ready for you even if they don't have it in roasted stock. Let's say you like their "cowboy" blend and want to buy it, sometimes you'll show up and they're fresh out. Now if you pre-order your blend, they'll roast a small batch just for you. Note: I'm reviewing this place for their coffee beans *only*. I prefer my home made cup of coffee to pretty much any cafe I've tried.

Parlour Coffee on Main Street was pretty much the first onto the scene last year with it's gourmet coffee and ultra minimalistic interior design. MAKE / Coffee + Stuff opened in Dec '12, is a very modern, sleek and minimalistic coffeehouse that looks more like a modern art space than coffee hangout. But that's probably because the owner is an environmental design instructor at U of M's faculty of architecture. The place is a bit hidden unless you are looking for it as it's in the same strip as Kristina's on Corydon. This place is situated within a few steps of Starbucks and Second Cup on Corydon. The space is completely white, with design books lined along the left side, several wood crate like coffee tables, a few minimalistic chairs, hanging industrial lights in a space that's both raw yet designed. The espresso counter in the back of the space has a small and focused menu: espresso, latte, cappucino, mocha, americano, slow drip and san pellegrino. Espressos are $2.50, lattes are $4 and mochas are $4.50 and are served in one size. I would hazard to guess that the mocha I had was maybe 250 ml or a short in Starbucks world. I like smaller sized coffees but for those who love grandes and such, it might seem like you're not getting as much drink. It wasn't my favourite mocha but the did use freshly grated callebaut chocolate. The espresso grind felt a bit dark and was not as smooth as I prefer. But coffee is such a subjective drink so I'd go back and try a slow drip to give this place another try. Nonethless, the best part of this space is the concept behind the coffee house - which is to support the local design community. It's meant to be a hub for not only the local design culture but for others to engage with the art by being a retail and exhibition venue. Apparently, designers work the espresso bar at MAKE.
