This branch of Starbucks is conveniently located in the Doubletree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal…read moreHotel, a few minutes walk away from Central Station and with this branch being relocated not directly in the station, one could argue it is the quieter of the two due to not being overpopulated with train travellers, but to say the store isn't busy would also be incorrect terminology. The store inside is quite nice and modern, like the hotel it is located in, they did have a good selection of merch, and the entrance looks pretty cool due to the Hilton being above it. The service here was pretty slow in terms of taking my order and then getting my drink, the total cost of my drink came to 4.95 euros which in my local currency is £4.46, which means the drink cost £1.26 more than what it would have done in the UK, while also considering I had to once again pay a 70 cent charge for vanilla syrup which is normally free with my Gold Level Starbucks card in the UK. It's also worth noting this is a franchise store operated by Hilton - I'm not aware of other branches yet (other than another franchise store at the Airport which this store is cheaper than) but it may be priced slightly higher and won't accept local Starbucks card if a certain scheme is available. The staff members also didn't seem really helpful, for example, they put my drink in the far corner of the table and left me to struggle to reach over to get it, despite telling them it was my drink as they were putting it out. The overall standard of my beverage, my regular Venti ColdBrew Latte with Vanilla was OK, which is better than some franchise stores which can make a mess of things in past experience. The branch also has its own "Starbucks" wifi and due to its location being so close to the Hilton, you can also connect to Hilton's wifi while you are here. Overall, this branch of Starbucks is OK, obviously it has the convenience of guests in the Doubletree of location, but it still has the drawbacks of a franchise store, and the pricing is nearly 30% more than what I'd pay in the UK, considering this and the poor, slow service I feel Starbucks at Doubletree by Hilton Amsterdam Central deserves a two-star rating. UPDATE: After some consideration during my time in Amsterdam, this is one of the best Starbucks branches in the city, and although it isn't perfect, considering this is one of the cheapest places to grab a Starbucks in the city, with other branches charing more (it still isn't as cheap as the UK!), and the beverage quality being satisfactory, and the location being conviniant for both guests of the Doubletree and travellers from Centraal Station, I feel an upgrade to three-stars is needed.

I stopped in to this Coffee Company location one afternoon after spotting the brand around the…read morecity. Their menu along the back wall behind the register with the text being inside the rainbow colored blocks to delineate the different menu sections. I got a caramel cappuccino to dine in and my husband got a caramel latte. We sat at a long table amongst other patrons who were chatting, sipping, and reading. They called our order out no more than five minutes later served in ceramic mugs. The caramel flavor in both was sweet, but not overpowering. It complimented the espresso very well. The atmosphere was calming and cozy, perfect for sipping warm drinks on a cold winter day. Definitely recommend stopping in for a drink and maybe even a piece of their apple pie they had available in the pastry display.

I had my usual fare, a hot coffee and a cheese pastry. My friend had a mint tea with her cheese pastry. The pastry was quite good crispy on the outside and soft inside and my black coffee was a perfect good morning pick me up. Also, I particularly like how the coffee place had clear glass facing the street so I can people watch as I sip my morning coffee. :)

Unfortunately you can't use the US Starbucks app here (shouldn't the app be universal? I wish!) Not being able to use the app is annoying as Starbucks doesn't put their full menu on the menu board so you're not sure what you can order. For example, there is no iced coffee, only iced Americanos and iced lattes. Their refrigerated case was out of of stuff all 3 times I went here. As far as food, they have some unique to Netherlands items such as cheesecake (oddly, the slice with strawberry topping is slightly cheaper than the plain one.) It does get extremely busy due to the location but overall they move fairly quickly. Staff was perfect and the only drawbacks are due to Starbucks corporate decisions that make it difficult to order without the app. Also, because it's the Netherlands, there is no plastic and the paper cups aren't waxed - you need to drink your drink quickly because the cup itself starts to feel like it's getting waterlogged and soggy. This Starbucks is probably the harder of the ones in the station to find too, mainly because it is located on the upper floor of the station, and I only noticed it by chance when calling to the Information desk, seeing the balcony of the station. The overall store seemed pretty much typical of the station - high prices in Starbucks, which are pretty high in Amsterdam already, but once again it seemed higher again than branches outside of the station. It's probably the more relaxing of the branches inside the station too if I had to pick one - due to the slightly hidden and isolated location, not getting the footfall which other branches such as the one overlooking the canal or the one at Westbridge get, although the store opposite the canal seems to have an overall feel and table set up, which is better for working, as they have tables and a lamp designed for a laptop there - which I didn't see here! Service seemed pretty crappy, similar to what you'd expect in a train station. Overall, a slightly isolated store with crappy service and high prices - it isn't a place I'd recommend and despite the location being good in Centraal Station, there are so many other branches, so I'm struggling to see what this branch does, or this branch has which the others don't - so sadly I feel a one-star rating is appropiate in this case.
