We were seated in the small downstairs dinning...cave, nook? Probably better to say nook. Ok, we were seated in the dinning nook at once. They have a rather extensive menu for a little coffee shop. My wife and I enjoyed their fluffy fruit topped pancakes and spicy yet flavorful Aussie chicken and waffles with a poached egg. My goodness! Both were delicious and perfectly proportioned. Additionally, we had the lemonade, which was more tart than sweet, and a lavender latte, very aromatic. Overall, still a great all-natural coffee place with a unique culinary personality that just got even better. Make sure to get a reservation if you want anything more than a to-go item. Enjoy!

The space is incredible- a former church I assume, or if it's not, they did an amazing job making it look that way. Vaulted ceilings, crazy chandeliers, etc. Just a beautiful room to have a drink- I added two photos to try to do it justice. The food was pretty solid too- I got a spanish quesadilla (sorry, I was weary from a long road trip) as well as a goat cheese an onion tarte I think. Both were way more refined and substantial than what we in the States expect from bar food. The drink (Hendrick's & soda) was properly presented in a huge sniffer, sliced cucumber & lime, with soda on the side for me to add my desired amount. I think it might have been like 8 euro, but so be it. It was worth it. Twice. I was there on a Wednesday night with Real playing on TV (it was an away game, I assume scene would have been different if the game was at home, just a couple blocks from The Monk's), and it was pretty quiet. Not dead, but a reserved, small crowd. Very close to the AC Cuzco by Marriott where I was staying, so if you're there looking for a nearby pub/bar, this is a solid choice. Bartender spoke at least enough English to take my drink and food order (I tried as much as I could in Spanish). Oh, and free Wifi...

I was not able to connect to a wifi here but there was a power outlet.

We were treated by our server Martina upon arrival. Martina was gracious helping us navigate through the menu selections. I chose the 2 course meal special (12.5 euros) for lunch which had three different course selections each. I chose the artichoke, jamon and arugula appetizer and the salmon, avocado and shrimp ceviche. The food was amazing. The presentation and flavors are fantastic. The meal also includes desert and a beverage of your choice. We liked Nouba so much we came here daily for lunch during our stay in Madrid. I highly recommend Nouba

The worst part about this place is that people can smoke inside the heated enclosed terrace. The food was surprisingly good. We really were only half-way sure of what we were eating. For example, nothing told us that salsa verde on a fish would be a shrimp sauce. No idea if that is normal. I had some type of scrambled eggs with asparagus and mushrooms. It was delicious. We had salads and soups for starters and that was just fine. The California salad comes with raisins, walnuts, ham, and croutons (plus mixed greens). No idea why. I was guessing it would be avocado or maybe fruit. Each meal we have is a bit of an adventure. The waiter suggested that our kids share a dish of eggs, ham, and potatoes, They only kind of liked it. Not yet used to eating jamon, kid #1 found it too salty and she isn't used to eating fried eggs. Kid #2 was happy with everything but just didn't eat much.

So we gave it a shot. They have a menu with a few different options to choose from, and every item has a title like "original", "special", or something like that. I went for the classic Espresso and my friend decided to try the one with extra milk. We both loved our coffee, but I didn't find anything spectacular about it. I mean it was simply some good brew. And the treatment wasn't anything special either. However, the reason we went to a coffee place in the first place was to be able to sit down at a table and chat, but this place was too small and didn't have tables for sitting down. In fact if there are more than four of you, you probably won't fit comfortably inside the shop. Do I recommend this place? Well, if you're on the run and wanna have a nice cup of coffee to go, and you don't mind paying a little more than the usual, yeah, why not.

We were the only people there eating although a few stopped in for a drink during the couple of hours we were there. We loved the big glass of olives that they brought us to start. We ordered a hamburger with potato chips (crisps) for the girls to share and it was more than enough for their tiny stomachs. My spouse and I had the menu del dia. He started with pasta carbonara, which child #1 decided was better than her food and ate most of it. I had a salad of tomatoes and cheese with balsamic vinegar. Nothing fancy but nice and fresh. Spouse enjoyed the steak (good but nothing special) while I had smoked salmon open faced sandwiches. It was so rich I couldn't even make it half-way through. The brought us a huge carafe of wine to share (at least two glasses each in there -- we didn't finish it).
