Once again I find my starting a review for a business I e checked into before and had a review in the drafts. Lesson learned to do my reviews promptly. While traveling South to North sometimes Normal/Bloomington is our sweet spot to stay over night if we aren't up to the last 3+ hrs of driving to get home. This Starbucks does not have a drive through so you have to go inside. But, it is .02 from our hotel and next to a shopping mall. There isn't much a person can say about a Starbucks that hasn't already been said. But friendliness counts. This store is clean, friendly, oh and fast. That counts too. It was also the first time someone thanked me for being a customer in this location in many years. Solid but super slow. The kids that work at this location are kind and helpful but good Lord are they slow! I mean on the few occasions I've been here there's usually a line out of the door, and on several visits, it took at least 20 minutes to get one dang drink (that includes placing the order until the order was completed). Maybe because it is a small town there's no rush but if you're trying to get somewhere then this isn't the location bro. I can say that I've been to other Starbucks in this town of Normal and none of them make drinks as good as this one does so maybe that's why they're so busy all the time. If you've got time to kill and a 20-minute wait doesn't bother you, then this is the spot for those well-known and new seasonal Starbucks drinks. As with any *$, I cannot give a review above 2 stars. This chain is reliably mediocre. I only visit Starbucks when I am in a town where I have not yet found a reliable independent spot, because they can be SO hit-and-miss (I've literally had Folgers instant crystals pushed through an espresso machine at a coffee kiosk; so this IS preferable). However, this was a pretty laughable incident: the dear young woman behind the counter was utterly boggled by the idea of putting 16oz of coffee into a 20oz cup--I don't know if this is the educational system at large, or a failing of Starbucks to actually train people about anything besides their branding...but an excessive adherence to their imaginary sizes (the only one of which--venti--actually means what it says it is) makes it impossible to communicate your order. It's like their "20oz caramel macchiato"...just...just don't. Don't get me started. It LITERALLY, by definition, CANNOT BE all of those things! This Starbucks has gotten worse and worse over the past ~10 years. I only go about once a month nowadays just to treat myself and every single time I have gone something goes wrong. Upon entering the establishment, I noticed the lack of diversity from behind the counter as well as the sitting area. As I approached the counter I was met by Lisa the sheepish girl who acted like I may rob the place with her defensive stance miles away from the register. She continued to be condescending and arrogant while interrupting my order to explain how cold brew coffee works when I asked for expresso to be put in my grande cold brew. Then I told her I'd be paying with my star rewards (apparently I spoke too slowly) I was met with a "you need to let us know before you scan that your using stars". This is not how I wanted to start my day. I am so disgusted. I stop in to treat myself and there are two dogs in Starbucks. Not only are there two dogs but one is just roaming around. I asked to speak to a manager and JENN spoke up "I'm a manager" telling me they are service dogs. I then asked shouldn't the dog be on a leash? She says she wasn't sure but she'll check into it. I suggested that she does. Not everyone like dogs, some are allergic or may be traumatized by dogs. In my opinion they weren't service dogs. JENN just wants to keep those customers happy without thinking about other customers overall. If the dog roaming was truly a service dog why was he roaming and not w his/her owner. Let's just say they were emotional support dogs..service dogs and emotional support dogs are two different things with different rules. Emotional support dogs DO NOT have the same rights as a service dog. Let's just say the dogs are the owners pet and they feel comfortable having their dogs w them...well your dog makes me anxious especially when it's roaming around. It's cold and tight and feels more like a waiting area than a place to meet friends or study. It's best in the summer because of the extra outdoor seating. This is the slowest Starbucks in town. The employees are always nice, and the place is clean and comfortable, but the endless waiting time has me going to there other shops. Every person I've talked with about this location agrees. If you're in a hurry and can go to the other shops, do it. You really know a coffee shop is good when you have a problem. I know that sounds funny but it's the way people deal with the problem that really defines how good the place is to me. I came in on the day of the Perseids Meteor Shower, I was getting ready to head out to the campground and watch it. So of course we are thinking coffee! :-) I ordered a Venti the associate made me a grande. I reminded him I ordered a Venti and he fixed it happily. Then he gave me the other drink for my friend outside. Super nice! David is the barista that crafted our drinks and he was more than polite about everything. Kudos to you David! When Starbucks puts their pre-packaged 1lb bags of coffee in a basket with a large sign saying, "$10.95," you'd expect to pay about, uh, $10.95. So when the register read, "$13.95," and I said, "That's three bucks higher than your sign, the employee said, "Oh yeah, that sign is wrong." I replied, "Yes, it is wrong," and asked, "Are you going to honor your advertised price?" When she said, "Oh, I can't," I thought, "Good to know. I'll never visit this Starbucks again." read more

the baristas are friendly, but the service is SUPER slow. It took 20 minutes to get a simple iced coffee. Awkward space in the cafe area. Probably the dirtiest Starbucks I've been to if you look behind the counter. The pick up area is always covered in wet sticky stuff so when the baristas put down your drink and straw your straw is soaked from whatever is on the counter. This store screams dysfunction. Maybe if they had a larger area to work with it would be more functional. Go to other stores if you can! read more

This Starbucks used to be pretty terrible, but I think mobile ordering helped this store a lot. The line still tends to get long if you are waiting to order in shop, but the mobile ordering section goes very quickly. Only once did it take longer than the estimated time it gave me to receive my mobile order. The store can get overly crowded though during peak hours due to the lack of drive-thru. All in all, this is a pretty average Starbucks. read more

Went to pick-up, asked for my order, girl looked at order sitting on counter & told me it wasn't ready yet. Almost 10 minutes later I ask another girl if that was my order, it was. Vibe has changed from positive, orders messed up often, negative attitude abounds. ... As usual, excellent coffee and tea. Always greeted with a smile. The ordering, waiting and seating areas are very cramped and it gets busy often. The seating area is so cramped with small chairs and tables that it becomes difficult and sometimes impossible to navigate through when it is busy. When few are there, you have to move furniture to make your way to the milk and sugar station or simply to exit. The hard working staff does a good job of promptly serving accurate orders. read more
