Stopped in to check out their merch, and was pleasantly surprised by the space. It is much larger inside than what you'd think from first glance. It was clean and had some seating. Came in to get a frap around 7:40 pm (approximately 1.5 hours before close) and there were 3 employees there. I stated my order and the employee ringing me up was about to submit the order before the two female employees looked at each other and scoffed and then he looked at them. Came in and it was still not done, the girls working are sitting there just cleaning and no one is paying attention to me. Starbucks 678 Hudson Street is very colorful. My visitor Charlie had me walking for miles. We happened by this Starbucks location and I decided to check it out. There's lots of customers and I didn't linger very long since Charlie was waiting outside. There's a bench outside, the place is clean and it's got the standard Starbucks cuisine! Worst customer experience ever at a Starbucks. Coffee shop without ice coffee, somewhat ironic. But I'll let it slide. I ordered a refresher instead. People behind me, who ordered after me got their drinks before I did and walked out. This is all despite the fact that I was standing there watching everything for 20 minutes. Clean and spacious. Service was ok, not horrible, not amazing. The only that irked me was the fact that there was no sink in the bathroom. I realized this while in the middle of wiping my ass after dropping a deuce. Don't worry, I didn't get anything on my hands and the sink is right outside the bathrooms but what if I did have poop on my hands? This starts off as a positive sounding review, but it is actually not. I have never written a review before, but I thought it was necessary to do so today. I am a teacher at a local school. I have frequented the Starbucks on 13th and Greenwich Ave for years. I have recently started going to the newer shop on 14th and Hudson. Both of these locations have always staffed the most wonderful people and getting my morning coffee has always been the best part of my day. As a matter of fact, some of the staff members from Greenwich are now at the Hudson location. I have never once had a problem...until today. I placed an order for a triple iced grande skim mocha with no whipped cream. The nice woman behind the register took it, but the barista made me a white mocha. Now, I had no idea that I was now supposed to specify which kind of mocha I wanted, as I have never had to do so. When the drink was put in front of me, I asked if it was a white one. Instead of apologizing or politely telling me to specify next time, this young woman made a grand display of throwing it out before she made me another one. Another employee must have seen my face because she asked me if everything was okay. I did not want to complain about the barista. I figured she might have just been having a bad day. I told this woman that it had been my mistake. She asked me several times if this was the case, but I accepted responsibility. When the barista gave me the newly made coffee, I began to tell her that I was sorry for not specifying. She completely dismissed me. She didn't even look me in the eye. Instead, she flippantly said, "have a good day" and walked away with no acknowledgement of me at all. I COULD have complained about her. I SHOULD have. I should have at least answered honestly when the other staff member asked me if everything was okay. I don't know whose error this was - mine for not specifying that I wanted a dark mocha instead of a white one, the woman who took my order for possibly entering it wrong, or the barista's. It never mattered to me. What mattered was the exchange between a customer and the person behind the counter. I see my students at this location every day. I have always experienced the kindness of the people working despite how they are feeling that day. This experience though has made me decide that I will never patron this spot again. I know one person's absence doesn't matter, but maybe a person who has seen the same people for about a decade might have some sort of an impact. In the meantime, I want to personally thank Keisha for remembering my name over the years, for always saying hello, and asking me how I am. Today she made an off-handed comment that I will carry with me - Today is another day to make it right. I hope that barista makes it right with someone and remembers that small moments can dictate a person's experience. read more
