The Starbucks location has no queue at the moment for the drive-through, there's about two cars... And it's also several in the parking lot, see the front is a little empty. It's nice and quiet here. Invenotry- there are plenty of cups and bottles avaible. they also have clearance section. but with clearance section purchase they refused to use my stars. but still a good deal. Awful communication. As I pulled up to order at the drive through a young lady took my order but as I was confused on a certain item she gave me attitude for no reason. I simply was just confused on my daughters drink and don't know why the young lady was giving attitude for not knowing that a small drink was considered "tall" that makes no sense. As a father I hope that young lady learns to respect her elders. I can't recall the name of the woman because I didn't get a good look at the name tag but she was blonde and had her hair in a ponytail braid type thing and very clearly uptight over a simple misunderstanding. read more

We had a number of hours to kill between business meetings and visiting friends, so we stopped into this Starbucks and promptly took over their oversized chairs for about three hours. We only purchased one drink each and were lucky enough that it wasn't a busy day. We didn't need to move and we weren't given any dirty looks for squatting there. I ended up getting a lot of work done and reading a couple chapters from a book I've been meaning to finish. Their store hours posted are until 10pm. In reality, they are only open until 9pm. It's been this way since last summer, or maybe even before that, and they haven't changed it online. Too bad because our group had to seek a different place to meet. Our group was there having an informal meeting, and the night shift people in a rude tone told us they close at 9pm, like 3 times. Then our party went outside to finish our conversation prior to leaving. The Starbucks workers came out of the store to lock up, and a younger woman approached us stating in a rude tone we couldn't stand in front of Starbucks, and needed to be 10 feet away from their door because of their rules. Besides this, several of the baristas are friendly and make our drinks and our order are spot on. However, the cleanliness of that store at times is sub par. Tables with sugar crystals, food crumbs and wet, sticky drink spots on the table. Gender neutral bathrooms? Not a fan. I have used them several times at this location and elsewhere where bathrooms are not designated. Ladies, heads up...do yourself a favor and check the toilet seat before you sit. read more

Since the +1 was doing an internship in town, we'd frequent this location for some post-dinner coffee and conversation. (True story: we had our first "date" here, and it lasted 3 hours.) Also, because I don't drink coffee made at my mom's place due to the hard water, I only get coffee here when I want it. So, this Starbucks is one I've divided about 1/3 of my S'bux experience to. And, really, we frequent the chain so much that I've joked we need to purchase stock. Normally you can get your drinks fast, but depending on the baristas working, it can get slow. In my experience it's not due to customer volume; rather, it's the attentiveness and work ethic of the barista(s). I went in a few days ago, and the only barista behind the station NOT doing anything productive was socializing with a customer from over the counter. (There was another barista who had his hands full changing out coffees and cleaning equipment.) I stood there...and stood there...when she finally stopped her conversation to ask what I wanted. Then she had HIM get my coffee (which meant stopping what he was doing) and ring me up as she resumed her conversation. To me, that was rude all the way around. Still, not an unusual occurrence from my experiences. I'm probably going to get chastised for this, but in general I find the female baristas at this location are less customer-service friendly and have a poorer work ethic than the males. Very, very weird. There is usually ONLY Half + Half (if any) offered at the lone condiment counter. On most of my visits when I ask them to add Skim, the baristas pour it into a plastic "shot" cup and hand that over with the coffee. (I brought this up when we were at the Streets of Woodfield S'bux yesterday and the barista there thought that was "weird"). I wonder if it's too much trouble to pour in the skim, or if they think it's somehow more efficient from the separate shot glass. Still, I'm not a fan of wasting plastic for naught. This evening when I went in and asked for skim in my coffee, the (male) barista poured it right into the cup. No fuss, no muss, and I was out in a jiffy. Overall it's a large enough to sit down and do work or meet up with friends, but depending on who's working, don't necessarily expect speedy service. read more

The only thing that would improve this Starbucks would be a drive-thru honestly. Every staff member I have encountered has been kind and friendly, even when business is hectic. My order is not the easiest but they have never gotten it wrong, personally. Friends of mine have received the incorrect order/poorly made beverages though, which did affect my rating. There is plenty of seating including: tables with chairs, couches, and even outdoor seating accompanied with umbrellas. A variety of music plays which is lovely since you will never hear the same song twice. Free Wi-Fi is always a plus! The atmosphere is great for coffee dates with close friends, writing a paper or doing research for school, or picking up an order on your way to/from work. Service, staff, and surroundings are all great at the Starbucks in McHenry! read more

They stood waiting for their coffee for over 45 mins. When asked why it was taking so long they were told to be patient. Arrived at 9:45 (15 mins before their posted hours of closing) and a guy who I assume closed, walked out, didn't say a word to me, and got in his car. The drive thru was still lit up like a Christmas tree but drive around and its completely dark inside, not that you can even see that from the street. I love this location. I've had so many issues at the Volo location making my drink wrong on a daily basis, that, even though Volo is closer and has a drive thru, I'd rather drive to Mchenry. My friendly baristas know me by face and have my drink ready promptly. Always a great conversation while I wait! When they ask my husband and I for a name for our cups, we like to give them names of famous (or infamous) couples. But my favorite thus far, is the barista who asked for a name for my cup and I told her "surprise me" - wrote "Beautiful" on my cup. I smiled all the way home. read more

The McHenry, IL store is the worst service ever! The specific problem is shamefully the manager "Megan". She constantly messes up my drink order without apology & has even blamed me for ordering wrong. Then she throws (not tosses or place) the cup in the sink behind the counter! I can be understanding and patient with a wrong drink. However, worst of all is her rude attitude! This should be addressed because she is an embarrassment to the Starbucks experience!! I've only dealt with the drive thru before but the employees are pretty rude. I usually order and pay with the app beforehand and the employee taking my order always has a noticeable sarcastic attitude when I tell them that. On numerous occasions my drinks haven't been good. I ordered a Java chip frappuccino and it had ZERO Java chips, a raspberry mocha frappuccino that was black with no raspberry flavor. The store was good about making up for ruining the drinks, but the drinks always taste a little off. read more

The service here is pretty much always subpar. I have had multiple drinks spill on my clothes because the baristas don't close the lids all the way. Today, the manager of this location cut me off for every drink that I ordered and I ended up getting something that I couldn't even drink (lactose intolerant) because she was not listening and did not repeat my order back to me. She then cut me off again before I was finished. When I drove up to the window she was rude and visibly unhappy when I asked her for an additional food item. It seems that this location will sacrifice accuracy and customer service just to get cars out of the drive thru. First and last time I will visit this dirty location. I say dirty because the lady tried selling me bakery items out of the display case (cake pop and muffin) with multiple flies landing on the food!! I told her that I would prefer something fresh as there are flies landing on the food. She stated that it "it's difficult to keep them out." Really??? Then don't sell the food. Kill the gosh darn flies and provide untainted items. The cake pop and muffin was for my son and there's no way in hell I would feed him or pay for food that flies were eating and shi**ing on. The worst part is, she didn't even attempt to remove the flies from the display case, and guaranteed she continued to sell the items that the flies had landed on. Plus, the store itself is just creepy. Very dark wood and furniture. No one likes to clean apparently. The tables were not cleaned, there were multiple dried rings from the previous inhabitants. Crumbs all over the tables and floors. What a shi**y experience. I'm happy to take the trip to Conscious Cup in Crystal Lake. Do people even take pride in their work ethic anymore??? read more

as starbucks go, this is pretty much what i would expect from a starbucks located right outside a shopping center. it's tiny. it's got probably no more than 8 tables. a small prep station/cash register area. bathrooms. and now you've had the tour. the baristas were all super nice. they were engaging and nice. they joked with my husband because he couldn't figure out what he wanted. he doesn't really go to starbucks. that's more my jam, so he was just along for the ride. he also is a terrible decision maker, so he held up production changing his mind about 24 times. other people find it cute the first time. *other* people.... find it cute..... the *first* time. .... so anyway. we got our cofffee. had a chat. and went on living our lives. very typical starbucks situation happening in mchenry. read more

Doesn't even deserve one star. Horrible/grouchy workers. After I ordered(venti ice water with 3 scoops of matcha), they proceeded to tell me that my drink was no where near as healthy as I thought it was. They said it had just as much sugar as a mountain dew. Let me remind you, matcha powder should not have sugar added into it. At this point I was about ready to change my order or just leave because I was so turned off. And to top it off they messed up my drink order. It should have been a venti, but they gave me a grande. They fixed it by pouring it into a venti cup and adding only ice to raise the level of my drink. Over all the workers were very rude and didnt respect my order of choice and extremely unprofessional. I've really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after four bad experiences, I'm giving up. The service is always rushed and rude, which is hard when I am with kids who take some time to figure out what they want. I've had one barista loudly sigh over the intercom and say to a coworker "yeah, I know, she's taking forever", I think she was trying to cover the microphone and thought everyone in the car wouldn't hear? Once I got home, I noticed my drink tasted awful. As in, it tasted completely different and they must have added the wrong syrups, it tasted nothing like how it was supposed to. I get this drink often, and I can understand a little bit of deviation, but this wasn't even in the same realm. The drinks here tend to not be the greatest in general, so I wasn't expecting anything amazing but this was really far out there. The other drinks were also messed up, again, some sort of recipe mess up or something. After spending $30, I wasn't too happy. The bar here has never been met compared to the other Starbucks around. This is the last time I will go there. read more
