Nope. No more. I'm done. What happened to the welcoming spirit at this location? I've literally been a regular customer here for YEARS as in, like 17+ Years!! I literally wrote two books and even produced movies and concerts sitting at this location over the years for countless hours and probably gained 15 LBS from drinking an average of three Venti vanilla lattes per visit adding up to plenty of $$$ spent ... Now, sadly, over the past few months, I've witnessed multiple examples of people (granted, some who were obviously homeless yet quiet and kind) being asked to leave due to "company policy". I could maybe appreciate that if the place was packed - but this location is huge and never packed. There's always available seating inside and out. But today was the final blow after being approached by an employee named Hugo, while I was sitting outside waiting for two colleagues to arrive - one of whom I was on the phone with as she called to say she was on her way but would be a few minutes late. I was asking her what she'd like me to order so it would be ready when she arrived - but instead, I was told I needed to leave due to company policy reasons that don't allow anyone to sit without making a purchase - - - WHAAAAT?!?! I was literally outside for 3-4 minutes on the front patio that had 8 or 9 empty seats - being told to leave unless I made a purchase. WOW!! That made me think of all those folks who are less fortunate than myself who were and will be asked to leave. It's wild because as a marketing, branding and promotions guy, I pay close attention to what companies are doing - and lately, I've been excited that STARBUCKS has been renovating and bringing back softer seating and fresh ambiance. Their core language lately has basically been: * "Re-centering the brand as the community coffeehouse" * "Welcoming spaces that bring back warmth and comfort" * "An invitation to slow down and stay awhile" * "Third place" / hang out longer * Connection, rituals, and experience But somehow this location didn't get the memo - at least Hugo didn't get it - nor did the other baristas who asked others to leave over the past few weeks/months. It's sad. Lots of memories here. But also lots of other locations just down the street that are nicer and kinder. If any other regulars notice a change for the better, over time, please let us know and I'll consider giving it another shot! In the meantime... Peace read more

It's rare that I find myself giving a Starbucks anything above a 2-star rating, but this location off Jefferson & Centinela consistently impresses me -- and that's saying a lot, considering I usually walk in with exactly two pre-coffee brain cells functioning. The baristas here are exceptionally friendly and helpful. I've come in a few times unsure of what I want, and the person at the register always comes through with solid recommendations and just the right amount of cheer to make me forget I haven't had caffeine yet. Drinks? Always spot-on. Service? Fast. Vibe? Chill and efficient. Now, if I could give a 4.5, I would -- only knocking a tiny half-star for one thing: the to-go logistics. Sometimes I get a stopper for my latte (thanks for saving my pants), sometimes I don't. And as someone who walks around Playa Vista, a sturdy to-go bag or drink carrier isn't just nice -- it's essential. Consistency there would make this an 11/10 experience. But hey, since Yelp doesn't do halves, I'm rounding up. This spot earns a rare and generous 5 from me. Keep it up, crew! read more

So usually I stop here and the service is good but this morning it was horrible. First off when I walk in there's no greeting like there was a person behind me and in front of me. Then I'm standing in line behind somebody who's being waited on at one register then she proceeded to turn around and start doing something and not even acknowledge that I'm standing there. Then you have two other employees at the register right next to us doing something don't even acknowledge I'm standing there, they're talking to one another about the register mind you not acknowledging that a customer is waiting to be serviced then as I'm still standing there just looking, one of them says oh I'm sorry about that. What the hell is up with the customer service this morning you have about 20 people behind the counter there's no reason why a customer should be standing there un acknowledged. Then the person that comes in behind me gets welcomed in immediately gets asked Oh, did you have an online order now? Mind you they too did not look like me. I don't like to play the race card but I was the only black person in there and I felt like I was treated like I was the only black person in there. I will never again come to this Starbucks after the way I was treated..... no after the way they made me feel this morning. Extremely bad customer service on this day of July 2, 2023 @ 0830 AM. And the coffee was weak. It's a shame you have all those employees behind back the counter and they can't even get a cup of coffee right now. Another thing ....so don't apologize as if you didn't see me....you clearly saw me there and then you gonna sit there and apologize l as if you didn't see me standing there ....then you start yelling over there at your employee when you got a customer standing here or you got all day to talk to him he's gonna be here. I'll be here for two seconds get my coffee and be out but you yelling over there at him, which is extremely unprofessional . You shouldn't be yelling across the store when you have customers in it but that's neither here nor there. But no the less the entire experience this morning brought me here it was so bad. Unprofessional, poor customer service, poor work ethic... is all I can think of right now. Never again for me.... Totally left a bad taste in my mouth and so did the coffee. read more

For weeks, I went into this Starbucks, and for some reason, a short African American girl didn't like me. She made it a point to mistreat me every time I came in. I always said "hello" to everyone and never had a one-on-one interaction with her, but for some reason, she didn't like me. She would toss the hot coffee toward me instead of setting it down or handing it to me. She did this numerous times. I tried to understand--maybe she was having a bad day? Maybe she was having a bad life? I even questioned myself: Did I do something? The answer was no. I expressed my concerns to her manager--not the regular manager, but the one in charge when the main manager wasn't present. The last time I came in, Olympia, someone I held dear because she always used to communicate with me, started acting like the African American girl. I hadn't done anything to her either. The regular manager noticed how weird they were acting and kept asking, "What's wrong? What's wrong?" When I finally spoke with her, she didn't even acknowledge the fact that I'd been mistreated for months. At this point, I was at my wit's end. I walked over to the manager, still focused on that girl. I looked at her, but she wouldn't even make eye contact with me. When I walked away, her boss (the manager) was still asking, "What's wrong?" I finally said, "I'm sick of this b****!" Yes, I said it--because she was acting like one. Her manager had the audacity to say, "We are all grown." Then she told me I couldn't come back and banned me from that Starbucks. read more

Definitively SHORT STAFFED! This morning (before church)we ordered 3 drinks and 3 bagels at 10am. By 10:30am, we still did not have any part of the order. Because church starts at 10:30am, we left with NOTHING. We told the lady at the registered. After church we came back 11:56am we came back. They gave us the bagels, within 5 minutes, and then....It's now 12:23pm and we just now got our drinks. It's disappointing that this is soooooo slow. read more

Now that I'm back in LA, this is still pretty much my favorite Starbucks. Like the mixed crowd but ...... coming back after 3 years I can't believe how much more crowded it is! Especially with the creative talent crowd from across the street, and the fact that they're building 30,000 freakin' residential units across the way in Playa Vista. But no matter... I am often here quite early in the morning and then things aren't so bad. If you come at busy times, lots of luck finding parking. Better park on Centinela or a side street and walk in. The baristas are hit and miss. Some are great. Others are distracted and disorganized. But once you're there it's easy in and out. there are quite a few seating arrangements but they are mostly taken by students or artists or business people on their laptops. What I like about Starbucks is their consistency. Your drink almost always tastes exactly the way it was the last time you were at a 'bucks. PS if they had written anything on my cup other than my name I would have stopped coming here. read more

I normally love going because the staff is great however today when I went in it was infuriating experience. When picking up a mobile order I told a man my name and even repeated it, he responded with " I heard you I just don't understand you". Then proceeded to try and make fun of me by butchering my name. Thankfully his colleagues were actually professional and gave me my order without partaking in the mockery. Sofia and I always stop by here on the way to school, if we're not running late. So, as of this last check in, we've been here a total of 2 times... I really have to start my mornings earlier! 2 words: parking sucksbawls. (No need to further elaborate if you've read this far from the other posts.) Other than that, it's your typical Starbucks. Pretty popular spot appparently with folks just lounging around. There are seats available for the times that Jason and I have waited for sister to come out of class. Nice little outdoor area with seats and birds that will eat your coffee cake when you're not looking. At least there's no homeless people. The coffee is nothing to write home about. The baristas are pretty robotic friendly. Overall, it's an ok place. I'll keep coming until my $20 giftcard runs out. I wouldn't be writing this review if i didn't know how poorly managed this place is. Never in my life have i heard such negative things about a manager and how she operates a store. But just by seeing her , you can already tell shes rude and doesn't know what she is doing. Ive heard from MANY workers and even PAYING CUSTOMERS that she sounds like the worst boss. Ever since i heard she hasn't even been a manager for a year, everyone who worked at this year ago doesn't work at this location anymore. I find that oddly weird. Today (December 1st 1:40pm) however I came in and ordered my usual Venti Green Tea Latte with Coconut milk and received a Cup filled only filled 2/3 of the way. Seriously not cool. I wasn't a fan of this Starbucks. I immediately noticed how dirty and unkempt it looked when I walked in. I placed my order on the mobile app 10 minutes before I got there, and they still hadn't started making my drinks when I arrived despite it not being that busy. There was one person making all the drinks when I got there, and they looked like they were new and training. After a long wait I finally got my coffee. I didn't realize they messed up my order until I got to my car. I walked back in and let them know, and they made my drink all over again.
