This location is simply non-stop busy. I felt like there was Not enough staff when I visited and the location was constantly in RUSH mode. My go-to starbucks location in La Jolla. Staff is always super friendly and helpful. There's a few businesses around it so it gets busy during the morning and lunch time. It's a great place to study. They have 1 big table which can seat 4 people and the rest are tiny. There's also a lot of outdoor seating if you want to get some sun. It's also conveniently located in the same plaza as Regents pizza and einstein bagels if you get hungry for lunch! Downside is that they have a private parking lot which is quite small. Like any other Starbucks. I went here with my dogs to catch up on emails while my fiance was doing a yoga session around the corner. It's a busy Starbucks and the clientele were very friendly. This woman came over and got very friendly with the dogs and, before I knew it she was telling me all about her military family, how she started a biochemistry program at USCD, how her family from Martha's Vineyard had the biggest house there, etc., etc., and about a half hour went by with me bobbing my head while this woman continued non-stop with a completely concocted story, yet another fake person, which happens so often in La Jolla for some reason. I was surprised to find this hidden gem as I was looking for a quick drink before I go into work. This morning after finding it's location, it's nostalgic as I went into this business plaza 8 years ago. There's a nice seating area inside and outside and the workers are very sweet and efficient. I forgot to mention in my previous yelp Tip one of the benefits of joining the Starbucks Loyalty Program. For your birthday, you are given a Birthday Reward, entitling you to your choice of one of anything - coffee, tea, pastry, etc. My frou-frou drink would have cost me over $6, but with my Birthday Reward, it cost me....ZERO. I love Starbucks and I appreciate the staff here, but they NEED HELP. They work so hard but the ordering there is mainly mobile orders and they can't keep up. I had to wait over 20 minutes for a mobile order yesterday and unfortunately just don't have that time to wait for coffee especially on weekdays. This Starbucks is what's known as a "Corporate" Starbucks. Meaning that on Saturdays and Sundays-when the Business Park it surrounds is closed, it is relatively dead! Which is wonderful! I walked in this Saturday morning before the Miramar Air Show at 8:30 a.m. and there was not one soul in that place! I have never entered an empty Starbucks before in my life. No waiting in line! I was so impressed. The two guys behind the counter were very nice and friendly. There is a spaciousness about this location that is so unlike the Starbucks down the road squeezed into a tiny, cramped spot at La Jolla Village Square. Outside, there are lots of metal tables and chairs on which to luxuriate. Another first--I did not see one homeless dude or resident-challenged individual camped out or begging for change! This is a real upscale Starbucks. While exiting, I saw what looked to be some med students in scrubs coming in. With UCSD Medical School and the Hospital nearby, here is a good place for doctor groupies to try their luck. BMW's and Lexus dot the parking lot. They have one person ringing another person taking orders and a third making drinks (I used to work at starbucks for 2 years so I know this is pretty standard for the morning rush) HOWEVER that's where their organization ended. They didn't take names for the cups so people were very confused who's drink was who's, everyone was standing around the bar waiting for their drinks while there were drinks just sitting there. They ended up calling my drink differently than how I normally call it so even I was confused if it was mine or not....could have been an off day.... Horrible service in this store! Rude customer service, don't make eye contact & rushes you out of there. I came in to this Starbucks this morning, I ordered a frappe & a breakfast item & I wanted to add two different ingredients into my drink but right before I could say anything the lady which I think is the manager rushed me & said "is that all" before I could even continue with my order & before I could order my breakfast item. I told her "I'm not done" but she didn't look at me at all when I was finishing my order & she turned her back on my after giving me my change. I'm disgusted with this place but it's also convent cause it's close to work but rude rude rude customer service & they are yelling when the call out orders but it's not even loud, no music is playing, people aren't talking loud.
