Easily accessible off the a1 with free parking and I can even do my weekly food shopping in the farm shop. The thing i love the most about brambles coffee shop are the daily specials and the brambles club sandwich. this place has a wonderful atmosphere, not like you usual fast food coffee shops, more like a restaurant but with very cheap prices. you can eat and drink for under £5 easily and be well fed with huge portions. In summer you can not beat sitting outside in the sunshine at brambles. this place can get extremely busy and must do tremendously well. thats why they have decided to build a large extension i suppose but it just shows what good friendly service, good comfy atmosphere and good value tasty food can do. I can highly recommend the paninis or the prawn salad. the salads are very large so go hungry first.

Not only is a it a beautiful and historic place to visit, but we had the good fortune to come upon Tealicious Tea Room, on Elvet Bridge. Already busy as we entered even though it was within the last hour of opening that day, we were lucky enough to find a table, so we sat down and had a read of the menu. The decor is simple and classic, the perfect understated tea room. We read the menu and a friendly smiling staff member came over to take our order. We chose to go for a high tea for two, but were told that as it was near the end of the day, all of the scones had sold out (I'm not surprised), but instead offered us a toasted teacake, which was just as good if you ask me. For our tea I chose vanilla Earl Grey, and my partner chose the house blend. The tea was brought first, and as expected, was of a superb quality, and very enjoyable indeed. Our high tea came not long after, and we were surprised, as we this high tea was presented on a traditional cake stand, more akin to a traditional Afternoon Tea. We most certainly did not complain! The bottom tier started us with our sandwich choices, we chose roast ham on brown, and regional cheese and chutney, also on brown. These came with side sauces of a very tasty mustard mayonnaise, and the chutney mentioned, as well as some crisps. The centre tier was taken up by two giant slabs of cake! Real big boy sizes! My partner chose a mixed berry cake, and although I was greatly tempted by a salted caramel cake, I opted for a lemon Victoria sponge. The sandwiches were very enjoyable, and the cakes were absolutely delicious! Wonderfully moist and flavourful, but never becoming sickly or too much. The top tier for now simply had jam and cream on it, as our friendly member of staff told us just to give her a nod when we were ready for our toasted teacake, so we could still have it warm. I didn't get a photo of it, but it was huge, and wonderfully light and tasty. We really enjoyed this impromptu little visit to Tealicious, and we appreciate that although they were busy and it was nearing closing, we never felt rushed or that we were a bother. The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful, and made us feel welcome. Whenever we next venture to Durham, we will definitely be returning to Tealicious!

Sometimes these seats are taken up by smokers and people with dogs bt you can usually squeeze in somewhere. Howevere, if you head upstairs it is much more spacious with a relaxed lounge room feeling - low tables, sofas and easy chairs. Snacks are quite limited to cakes, flapjacks and paninis which may not be to everyones taste but the drinks range is excellent. Lots of different coffees and syrups in particular. You can even get coffee and hot chocolates made from soya milk if you would rather not have dairy. There are organic juices in child friendly cartons. Prices are expensive. I was there today and for three drinks and three flapjack type bars it was over £12 however this isn't out of the ordinary for the centre of town. I would say prices are average for where the place is. A loyalty card is available. Remember to have it stamped every time you go in and buy a drink. After so many stamps (ten I think) you qualify for a free drink which isn;t bad.

It also accepts Starbucks cards and has online ordering, it is known as the Framwellgate Bridge branch on the app. The service was okay, some staff members did seem nicer than others which made the service average out as excellent, for example I asked about the pouring machine for the Lime sample refresha, a member of staff just told me how to turn it and refused to move and help me, when it didn't work but another member of staff volunteered, it was like the weirdest version of good cop bad cop between Starbucks baristas.
