Beautifully and tastefully decorated paying homage to all things prewar hanging on walls and fire mantle, don't miss the restroom. Even if you don't have to go? GO! It's too interesting to miss. The waitresses even dress the part with their dresses, makeup and hair perfectly quaffed. The food; well, I was pleasantly surprised. At first I thought charming quaint themed atmosphere tea room food must be either subpar or just okay. I ordered the daily special and my oh my to my surprise it was real good food served with real Hartlepool happy hospitality. I cannot fault this place. Well expect that it's too far from Miami, Florida. But when in Hartlepool England check this place out for afternoon tea with great Hartlepool charm Prewar. Don't worry you'll be transported back to present times once you get the bill. Not incredibly pricey but not incredibly cheap either I'd say it's reasonable for the food, service and charm. Enjoy.

With plenty of spacious seating on the patio and tucked away in little corners of the garden we found a lovely little table for 3 in the sunshine. For winter months they have 2 main buildings and 2 out-houses which are very pretty and well decorated inside. Post-birthday night out I was a little worse for wear and ready for a full English and a good cup of tea unfortunately the breakfast cut off point is at 11.30 however I wasn't too disappointed as the rest of the menu left plenty of tantalizing options for me to choose from! The waitress came over to take our orders and helped me choose between 2 dishes that I was torn over. The drinks service was a little slow but the food was timey and the presentation on all the dishes was amazing! My Dad opted for a seafood platter, which came with smoked salmon, crayfish, cockles, mackerel and crab slaw all served with sourdough bread, hollandaise and aioli sauces - seafood heaven! My Mum went for the lamb and goats cheese burger that was divine! The lamb was cooked to perfection with it being pink in the middle and served with a yummy mint yogurt dip and sun-dried tomatoes. I was stuck between the club sandwich and BBQ pulled pork open sandwich. On recommendation I went for the pork, which was served, on sourdough toast with melted Monterey cheese - heaven! I was having food-envy looking at the lamb burger but was not in anyway disappointed with my pork. Finishing off our meal with the Parlour's specialty - ice creams all round! I have a new found love for the homemade lemon meringue cone... There is so many flavours including apple pie and the originals too - its an ice cream lovers heaven! Our leisurely lunch here was fab and they are also promoting the "Super Club" on the 18th of July that is a diner's paradise! With three courses plus their homemade ice cream at £25 a head it doesn't break the bank either. This place was definitely worth the 20-minute drive and I will be back to try their dinner menu!

It was a really yummy cake! The sitting rooms were so cute, we were in the garden shed , and there was the main room, and the ice cream parlour and outdoor sitting. A really well done place, with layout and set up. Sometimes tea shops along the high way have a whole room full of junk they are trying to sell to you and then cramped sitting. But not here I think I saw a few cute things for sale but mostly they were focused on their food and I was told famous ice cream! Well done for keeping the place about whats most important... the food! Friendly service and tasty treats. It was a bit slow because they were super packed and under staff. The waiter apologised for the wait and said someone had called in ill! I can only rate it on the cake and coffee because I didn't eat anything there but I imagine it would be good .

The ladies in there are marvellous, friendly women, who definitely know their tea and cake! As you walk through the glass frontage, the decor is vintage/rustic/local, with walls filled with cute posters and twee ornaments without being sickly. The new place is light and spacious, with at least double the tables of the last little shop, which you can reserve or hope there is one free (I missed out on graduation day in November and was very grumpy!) but the thing to behold for me is the tea shelf. Wander over, and pick your tea in a mug or a pot by perusing the labels and opening the big glass Kilner jars to sniff at the gorgeous varieties of loose leaf teas inside. They do cakes well, and their Danishes are fabulous, a nice range of sandwiches and bagels means you aren't stuck for choice whether you have a sweet or savoury tooth. Another deal not to miss is their afternoon tea, now £10 for a slice of cake, scone, sandwich and unlimited tea. I've spent many an afternoon taking advantage of the unlimited tea! Check out; The chocolate mint tea The turkish delight tea The cream earl grey tea The lemon danishes Wednesleydale and mango chutney sarnies (I used to seriously rib my dad for this combo when I was in middle school, but so good) The chocolate bar cakes And some pretty good vegan bakes too

There's a massive variety of tea to choose from, and you can dictate how much you want, from a cup, to a huge pot. All the teas are loose leaf, so you really get the different flavour of each tea. I've discovered some personal favourites, thanks to this place. All of the cakes are homemade, and some cater to dietary requirements, so there is a gluten free option. The food is always lovely, and brilliant for lunch, or just spending a quiet time in a cafe. If you like the old, romantic cafe aesthetic, or you just want to try various teas, this beautiful little place is for you. Would recommend for young couples, students, and people who want somewhere to relax. PROS: Good food, brilliant tea range, good atmosphere, wonderful staff CONS: No coffee range, but as expected of a TEA house.
