Dirty condiment stand

The experience that I had at this location was nothing what Starbucks stands for. I came in with a tumbler that I purchased from Starbucks and I was doing some holiday shopping and I went up to the register and asked the barista for a "coffee refill". Mind you, I have been a registered Starbucks member since 2012. That says how much I spend in their stores. Her short reply to me was "did you buy a coffee earlier?" Excuse me? Let me give you an example of what the customer experience is from a former barista. "No problem, miss." Customer service goes a long way and not even a thank you. Lastly, to go to a condiment bar that is filthy. When I went into the store there was myself and and another customer with 5 baristas behind the bar. There was enough down time for the condiment bar to at least be wiped down.

Beware the dreaded mallbucks. This Starbucks, being in the Jersey Gardens Mall tends to quite busy and often has a line. For quicker ordering, use the mobile app to skip the line. In Elizabeth, there are not many good coffee spots to order a black coffee, as the local community normally drinks their coffee with a hefty dosage of milk and sugar. The nearest spot for good coffee would be Rock'n'Joe in Union. This Starbucks location is really no different than any other Starbucks, except that their prices are a tad higher, and they have the clover brewing system. Clover coffee is an expensive brewing machine that instantaneously makes a well balanced brew, like a fast speed french press. They have a variety of reserve blends to compliment it, although they pack quite a price tag, often between $4-6 a cup. I've often found the service to be a tad lacking, and have had lukewarm delivery times as well as handling / quality of my drinks.

I messed up my order and my barista fixed it for me. Her name was AMANDA. She was great friendly and helpful all while making my beverage with a smile. The service alone will make me comeback for sure. GIVE HER A RAISE!!!!!!!!!!

I love me some mugs :)

Smell the coffee... This is the closest Starbucks to where I live so I consider it a life saver, jaja. There's always a line of 4+ people but the baristas are very fast and friendly. They also have a restroom, so that's a plus when you are trying to find one restroom in the huge mall. The only reason they didn't get a 5 stars is because of their limited sitting.

They got my order wrong. She had to check computer and didn't take my word for it. But. She fixed the problem and I got to keep both drinks. They also made a granites before 3 pm!

Another day, another trip to EWR!…read more It was lunchtime at Terminal 3, and the Starbucks line was too long. I had an hour to kill, so I decided to switch things up and try something different. That's when I stumbled upon Zaro's. The line was way shorter, and you can either order at the cashier or use the self-order kiosk. I went with the kiosk because, obviously, I needed time to properly view the menu and I didn't want to be rushed! I got the matcha + an everything bagel with a cream cheese schmear. The matcha... I should've known better. It was way too sweet and didn't really taste like matcha. Definitely not my favorite. BUT THE BAGEL?! SO GOOD. Soft, chewy texture and they did NOT skimp on the cream cheese. The schmear was generous, which is exactly how it should be. There are a few tables, but most were unavailable when I went, so I'd probably recommend getting it to-go if you're in a rush. Final verdict: Skip the matcha, get the bagel and probably try the coffee (?).

All items quite expensive, as expected in airport. When I ordered coffee, I specifically asked if…read morethey had stevia sweetener and was assured, yes they did. When I finally received my order and inquired for the stevia they told me to take sweet n low. That was the ONLY option. There was an empty section for another type of non caloric sweetener-who knows what type?? I find it difficult to believe that midday in an airport terminal coffee and bakery shop they have no other sweetener and think sweet n low is an acceptable substitute for stevia? I requested a refund and requested they provide this information of outside to initial order taker but she just shrugged her shoulders. Thermal A is very cute and modern in general , but this is NOT a recommended experience. Avoid

Born and raised in New Jersey, I've driven past Elizabeth countless times but never had a reason to…read morestop in....UNTIL I heard about Alkazar Bakery! An acquaintance of mine on YELP kept posting these DELICIOUS photos of a number of different pastries from this bakery that I just had to see if they tasted as good as the pictures.... and trust me, Alkazar Bakery did not disappoint! The bakery is full of delicious Uruguayan, Argentinian, and Peruvian cakes, cookies, and pastries. I decided to order a dozen bizcochos (sweet bread), three I ate right there in the shop and the rest I took home to my family! The bread itself is so sweet and savory that it's flaky exterior literally melts in your mouth! Inside the bread, you can choose from a variety of fillings, my favorites being ham, caramel, and guava and cheese! The caramel bizcochos might be my favorite thus far, for in addition to the caramel filling the entire bread tasted like an anisette cookie! Absolutely scrumptious!! Even the plain croissants cannot even be described as plain... I've just never tasted a bread so loaded with taste all on its own. I must add, that Alkazar also serves fantastic coffee. I usually drink my coffee black or with a splash of milk, but since I was at the bakery I decided to go all (milk and sugar) and it was nice and hot...and sweet just like the pastries in the shop! I have no idea what kind of coffee beans they use, but frankly I don't think it matters. It's that good! I believe it is also worthy to note that the bakery itself provides a very warm and relaxing atmosphere to just sit and enjoy your coffee or pastry. They have a decent amount of seating for a bakery, beautiful mirrors and colorful lights along the walls, and phenomenal customer service. I walked into Alkazar not even knowing how to pronounce "bizcochos" but the woman behind the counter was patient and kind.I wrote down "bizcochos" and she just smiled and knew exactly what I wanted! She then told what was inside each bizcochos, and made small talk with me about the weather (it was freezing that day!!!), and made me feel right at home. Random odds and ends- The prices are extremely reasonable. There is plenty of street parking along with a small lot only for Alkazar customers only. The restrooms were CLEAN, and they are open to 6pm every day except Sunday! That's pretty good for a bakery. Most close around 3 in my area. I've always enjoyed pastries, from your standard danish to baklava, but I've never tasted anything like the bizcochos I had at Alkazar. This bakery is truly special and I will be back!

We were staying at an airport hotel nearby and happened across Alkazar Bakery. I don't want to be…read moredramatic, but I will be thinking about these pastries for the rest of my life. Living on the west coast, I had never had anything like it. We tried 2 empanadas, beef and ham and cheese and also a bizcocho rolled in sugar which was fresh out of the oven. The empanadas were seasoned perfectly and the crust was flaky and tender. The bizcocho pulled apart into flaky, warm layers. The exterior had a beautiful crunch to it and it was really perfection. I paired it with a cappuccino which was delicious with a sprinkle of cinnamon. The staff was so sweet and gracious, taking the time to explain the pastries to me in the midst of their busy morning.
