The wait in line was short and the service was good but the food was absolutely disgusting. Old, microwaved bacon gouda sandwich. They should be embarrassed but they know that roadtrippers aren't going to come back to lodge a complaint. They are here to grab food and get back on the road. A waste of $7. The venti caramel macchiato with extra caramel drizzle was good and flavorful because it was freshly and hand made. But yeah, stay away from the food! The ambiance is a bit frenetic and frenzied, with no real atmosphere and open seating with other restaurants. You don't come here to read or relax. My husband and I were coming home from a visit to his parents. We needed gas and we were also really thirsty, and decided to stop at this Starbucks within the Molly Pitcher rest stop. The location is really convenient and relatively easy to get to. There was a small line, but it moved very quickly, and the employees were quick/efficient. We also saw an employee cleaning the floor and cleaning up around the trash, so it is good to see that those things are being taken care of/not getting overfilled. It is a decent Starbucks off the Jersey Turnpike. While on a mini-road trip I needed to refuel both my car and my body. This rest stop was the perfect spot for both. The Starbucks was super busy to the convenient location. It did take sometime to get my drink, but due to the amount of people waiting for coffee, I feel it was a reasonable amount of time. The one thing I don't understand, which could be the reason for the wait would be you order at one register and pay at another. So I told one barista my order at register 1, and then he told the barista at register 2 what I ordered, and then I paid at register 2. This is a waste of time and makes no sense. Both registers should be for ordering and paying. Anyway, I ordered my drink with light ice. When another barista called my name that my drink that was ready, she actually asked me if she put in enough ice, if I wanted more, or if she should dump some out. I tend to order my drinks with light ice all the time because I don't like my drinks watered down, and I've never been asked this question before. 2 thumbs up to her! I was passing through from New Jersey to DC and stopped by to get my fix of a green tea latte with soy and extra matcha...yes, I know it sounds a little obnoxious! I'm lactose intolerant and I'm from LA. There was a store front and a Starbucks mobile truck serving people, I thought that was cool. It must be a popular stop for folks. Although the line was long, the wait wasn't bad...they took my order and had half of it ready right way. Here comes the 1 star. A really unhappy dark haired older woman was making our drinks. I saw her holding a cup of what looked like MILK, she looked at the label and continued to get ingredients...I didn't see what she was making but I did see her look at the label 3 times. When they called my name, she handed the barista my drink and I said "is that milk"....she mumbled "oh yea" and dumped the drink and proceeded to make my drink again on that same cup. We stopped to get 2 toasted everything bagels with cream cheese, and a coffee. They were out of cream cheese so we had to get butter. They served them up and said "only one has butter right?" "Uh, no" so they gave us more butter packets. The bagels were warm but not really toasted. Spreading the ice cold butter packets onto the clearly untoasted bagels kind of ripped up the bagels. Rest Stop Starbucks Starbucks located at the Molly Pitcher Rest area on the NJ Turnpike. This place is a real gold mine- a non ending supply of customers who are mostly numb from driving, shuffling through for a caffeine fix, no matter the cost. The coffee is unnaturally hot- I left most of my palate outside on the patio after taking a sip of the boiling pitch-like coffee. Goddamn that stuff was hot- how the hell do they get it to that temperature? Had they never heard of the McDonald's coffee lawsuit? Amazing. In any case, there are some nice tables outside with a lovely view of the parking lot - but at least you can get some sun while picking the dead skin off the roof of your mouth. read more

At first I thought the girl at the register didn't understand what I was asking for. She said, "We don't blend that." So I explained it. She then proceeded to give me her opinion on it. She said, "No, that will be disgusting." I took slight offense to that, so I said, "Can you just put it in a blender? It's just like a frappuchino or a slushi." She was very rude and acted like it was a hassle for her to do it. I shouldn't have wasted the time to argue and should've just walked out. They also messed up my sister's order and put whipped cream on it when it said no whip, but we weren't trying to be picky so we took it and left. Odd. I've never been to a Starbucks that was so different from other Starbucks. First of all, the Starbucks is at the Molly Pitcher Rest area on the NJ Turnpike, but is in fact separate from the actual rest stop building. This took me a minute to figure out. You often enter a Starbucks expecting the certain corporate coffee vibe that the chain strives so hard to maintain. Here, however, that was clearly missing. Earth shook as the rotund manager of this Starbucks pounded the ground with his enormous feet. He was angry, that much was obvious. He subsequently yelled at an employee in front of everyone. Apparently the pastry shelves weren't filled properly. That was entertaining at least, but the chocolate chip iced scone I got was terrible. It tasted like it was five days old. I was shocked because Starbucks always has extremely fresh goods. I placed an order for a hot chocolate and thought for a while that they just forgot about it because it took them forever to make. The employees were busy mouthing off about the club one of them went to last night instead of doing anything. What're ya gonna do. It's not like you have a ton of options if your tired eyes need coffee on the long drive through the turnpike. Worst experience we have ever had. The manager and the girl who rung us up were so incredibly rude. They not only made our drink wrong, when we pointed out we wanted the drink iced, they screamed at us that we didn't ask for that (we did). Then when they told us we would have to wait for our new coffees because we had said the wrong thing we waited 20 minutes for them to once again give us the wrong drink. Horrible service, the baristas were slow and confused, and the supervisor was hanging out in the back talking to another employee while there was a line out the door and baristas that had questions... It may have been better the supervisor was in the back because after 20 minutes of waiting when they did come out they confused the baristas even more by shouting out orders. To start, when I ordered they told me they don't have the tea I wanted, when I could clearly see it and when my friend ordered the same thing, they gave it to her. I ordered a croissant and my friend ordered a glaze twist and she didn't want it warmed but I wanted mine warmed and they did the opposite. Worst customer service. The lady in the counter was really rude! When My husband was paying, in the digital display he saw she charged him 8.5 usd for a tall caramel macchiato and feta egg spinach wrap but did not give him any receipt! When we were leaving she called him very rudely in front of other customer and asked him to pay for the wrap!! She continuously denied that she charged for the wrap already and made him to pay for it again! After that my husband checked the statement of his credit card and got to see that he was charged TWICE for the wrap! Busy busy busy. It's the NJ Turnpike and its Starbucks so it's typical. Although small this location is the best in my opinion because you're not competing with the crowd of the rest stop (I.e.: other restaurants, the restrooms, etc.) as THIS location is the only one that has a separate building.
