It's in the building right next to mine and sort of hidden in the +15 network. They've got a lot of seating considering the size of most Starbucks locations downtown. The line is generally pretty short, I never have to wait more than five minutes and they're generally quick in getting drinks out. Not to mention, one of the girls took the time to ask me about the dairy allergy I'd mentioned and let me know that the drink I ordered had dairy in the syrup. She had no issues changing my order after I'd already paid for it, which was really nice, and discussed it a little with me as she has a gluten sensitivity so she can sympathize. This is one of 2 I found and it's located in the Marriott Hotel lobby near the Calgary Needle. The other is on the side entrance of the Fairmont Hotel. One thing I also found a bit different about this location is the great wall art, on one wall there's a mural of "The Coffee Belt" on the adjacent wall they have a really cool mural of Calgary, and then on the next wall there's some hung paintings. Great art element at this location! It's not obvious that this Starbucks is here as the signage is small outside, I'm guessing it's because it's a licensed non-corporate location. Luckily this means less people, a quieter café and quick/efficient service! As a licensed location there are some downfalls; they don't redeem rewards and don't typically take part in corporate promotions, however you can still earn stars but they'll have to manually enter your card number if you don't have the physical card and only have the app. This also means they don't participate in the free refills benefit given to Green and Gold Members. They do still have all the usual offerings at this location including La Boulange, but their ordering process with corporate works a bit different so they may not be as well stocked as corporate locations. They do open quite early at 6am on weekdays, 7 am on weekends, but they close fairly early as well at 6pm. Not easy to get parking around here either unless you're a guest at the hotel. This is a great Starbucks location, they have some of the better staff I've encountered in all my visits to various Starbucks stores. There's the cool wall art factor, it's quieter and it's a nice place to hangout away from busier crowds. There are some downfalls with being a licensed store, and I probably would have given them 5 stars if they had all the corporate benefits, but they still have all the great usual offerings if you're okay with making a non-promotional order that would fall under the My Starbucks Rewards program.

I am a roaming office type person (ie. wherever I am, there is my office). I love going places to work where the energy is good and the air is abuzz with good conversation. I came here because my car was in the shop down the street and I needed a place to work. I have been going back because I met such great people that day and found that it's relaxing place to be, despite the fact that it is also one of the busiest locations in the city. The sandwich was set on the counter, and another customer who had ordered way after us took it. I can count on being served quickly and in a friendly manner and then go and people watch while I drink it. Sometimes it's hard to find a spot, but it's a nice way to enjoy a coffee. Nothing wrong with this location, but a Starbucks is a Starbucks. Coffee keeps me going, friendliness just makes the whole experience better.
