I'm not a huge fan of their decaf (it's a pour over and very strong), but it was a nice spot for a chat! Parking is on the street, and the location is quite convenient. I will never understand why coffee shops are built in clusters, in close proximity to each other…read more The Mississauga City Centre has to be coffee overload for anyone looking to get their fix, as there are so many options within a one-block radius that it's staggering. I'd like to meet the designer who thought this would sit well a block away from a Starbucks and a Tim's, not to mention the dozen coffee shops inside Square One as it is. I would have never found this place were it not for the fact that I was attending a show nearby at the LAC and wanted a quick coffee and snack. I made my way over here and found the experience to be pleasant, though the rough edges are definitely showing. The first thing I noticed was the service. As others have said, the servers are a bit aloof but cordial. I ordered an Orange Spice tea and a slice of banana loaf, and one of them wished me goodbye and seemed to be expecting me to leave the counter while the other woman was getting my food. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing, but the service is decent enough. I was surprised by the amount of seating tucked away in the place (you definitely can't see it all from outside), but the padded seats I perched on were fraying and had definitely seen better days. Couple that with the existing power outlet problem (did no one bother to rewire/renovate when they opened this place? Did no one expect that?), and you can see why this place only has a middle-of-the-road rating. That said, the tea's solid (can't really screw that up) and the loaf was fine. This Second Cup is fine for what it is, but it's not a place I'd go out of my way for again, especially with so many other options in the area.

Even though this is primarily a coffee bar, I am firmly in my matcha era right now, so that's what I went for. It was pretty decent, and I really liked that they use ceremonial grade matcha. I don't want to rate the place unfairly since I didn't actually try their coffee this time around, but based on the vibe, I would definitely go back to try a latte next time.

Tip: Sign up for Starbucks rewards, and earn stars towards free drinks and more…read more I was reminded by Starbucks recently that I have been a Starbucks rewards member since 2008. I remember visiting Starbucks at Brookfield Place, where I worked. I signed up for Starbucks rewards there. Months later, I ended up changing jobs and working at Yonge and Eglinton. There were plenty of Starbucks locations in the area, so I ended up being a regular Starbucks customer. After all these years, I didn't really have a favourite Starbucks cafe. Sure, I visit my local one a lot out of convenience, but it's not my favourite. I'd say the one closest to my workplace is close to being my favourite because it has a drive-thru and staff are extremely friendly. They like being there and appreciate that I appreciate what they do. My friend, Sandy, and I dropped by this Starbucks cafe in late August before a Yelp event in Oakville. Frankly, my knowledge of the Mississauga-Oakville border is so poor that I thought this cafe was in Oakville. Nope, it's considered Mississauga. I have found my favourite Starbucks cafe. It's this one. This cafe has a drive-thru. It had steady business when we dropped by. We wanted to get drinks, sit down, chat, and kill some time. It's rare that I can't comment on going through a Starbucks drive-thru. It's the case here. I backed into a parking spot fairly close to the main entrance. We got out of my car and entered the cafe. Sandy did a pitstop. I used the washroom before we left. There are two single stalls. The one that I used was clean and roomy. I went to place my order. My favourite drink these days is the cool lime refresher. It was a regular drink on the menu years ago. Starbucks got rid of it. When it returns for a limited time, I pounce on it like a tabby cat. I got the nicest barista. When I ordered this refresher in a grande size, she asked if it was for here or to go. I said the former. She asked if I wanted it in a glass or a cup. A glass?! Super fancy! It was a first for me. I went for the glass. Wow! And, that's why this cafe is my favourite. I have never had any Starbucks cold drink in a glass before. I had my Starbucks barcode on my app scanned to pay for my drink. I like that my name shows up automatically on the label. It didn't take long for my drink to be ready. Yes, I picked up the solid glass containing my cool lime refresher. I sat down with Sandy and her drink. My glass had a sticker with my name and my order on it. Maybe my glass was chilled a bit. I loved my cool lime refresher. It tasted even better in a glass. Maybe it's psychological. I don't know. I do know that it hit the spot and I felt classy. Yes to getting a drink in a glass. Sandy had her drink in a cup. I showed her the braille at the bottom of it. She thought it was neat. Her reaction was similar to mine when I accidentally found it. This cafe is clean. Staff are friendly. The only downside was that there weren't any baked goods in the display case. I'm not sure why. Luckily, I wasn't in need for any, so I'm not docking any stars off my rating. There was a bin to put your glasses and dishes in by the garbage and recycle bin. I actually cleaned out my car and brought my empty beverage bottles in to be recycled. I loved being here. This cafe stands out. It is my favourite Starbucks cafe and I'm happy that I have one at long last. I hope to return and try the drive-thru. I'd also like to come back and have a drink in a glass. The team is consistently warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. It never feels scripted. You feel welcomed, remembered, and taken care of every time you walk in. Even during busy periods, the staff stays calm, professional, and positive. There is clearly strong leadership and good training behind the scenes. The store feels well run, organized, and supportive, and that shows directly in the customer experience. The service is consistent, the details are handled well, and the energy in the space is always steady and welcoming. In a brand as large as Starbucks, it is rare to find a location that stands out this much. This one does because of the team culture, the care they bring to their work, and the way they represent the brand day in and day out. Corporate should be proud of the people working here. Highly recommend this location, not just for the coffee, but for the experience.

In my experience, most coffee shops, whether large or small chain or independent cafes don't charge separate for decaf and an additional surcharge for alternative milk on top of that feels excessive. Unfortunately, this pricing makes it difficult to see myself returning, especially when comparable or better options are available at reasonable price. I'd encourage management to revisit their pricing structure
