Just got ready made food to go and the payment screen was stuck on 23% tip or something like that. It is extremely tiny and hard to see. The "no tip" option didn't work. Pressed it several times amd nothing. Then tried on the keypad which just sent my payment through with the high tip. Tip for ready-made food. Was too embarassed to tell them to their faces that I don't want to tip, so posting here instead. 2 stars because food is only lower carb option at South Station, where only a mediocrity of food choices exist. read more

I stopped by this Starbucks since it's close to South Station. As common now with many Starbucks, there were many people waiting for their online orders. It's not a big Starbucks, there's some stools to sit on that face the windows but that's about it. It's a location designed for picking up your order and leaving. Expect somewhat of a wait if you come here on a weekday morning. I waited almost 10 minutes for my online order. read more

Tried to stop in this morning for my Pumpkin Spice Latte but the line was super super long...too long for me to wait so I headed to the next one. The lines are not long in the afternoon when I am heading out so I usually grab a hot cup of Joe to go. Been coming to this Starbucks for about two years now. It's right by my office and no matter how long the line is - the baristas here are very efficient. I'm always in and out in less than 10 minutes. The employees are friendly and are quick to remake a drink if it's wrong . The mobile ordering function is a definite plus. I sometimes order my coffee when I'm at Broadway Station and it's piping hot for me when I arrive. read more

My favorite Starbucks in all of Boston! And let me tell you, I've been to quite a few. I work in Downtown Boston and I am so happy that this place is located within a 5 minute walk from work. I refuse to go to any other one in the area. What makes this one so spectacular? Well let me tell you. The staff is very nice, friendly and patient. There are one or two exceptions, of course; but when you have to deal with a long line of cranky people, who need their morning caffeine to endure a new day with their cubicle, it's inevitable. Props to the manager for hiring such wonderful people! Despite the long line that sometimes goes out the door in the morning, I always manage to get in and out within 10-15 minutes. Some of these baristas can whip up 3+ drinks at once! It's ridiculous. I also love their photo board by the counter where you pick up your drinks. It displays pictures of the baristas with their name. It makes them so much more personable. Seriously, the only thing that sets one Starbucks apart from another is their staff. This location definitely has some of the best baristas I've ever seen. They deliver exceptionally fast and friendly service. I can't ask for much more. :) read more

This location is small but definitely worth a try. The staff are super friendly and they work hard and fast to make sure you get what you need as quickly and efficiently as possible. I come here in the late fall and winter at least twice a week for a hot chocolate with whip cream and it always tastes the same and tastes great. (I know I'm crazy I don't drink coffee) however the hot chocolate at Starbucks is by far better than other chain coffee shops in the area i.e. Dunkin Donuts (seriously) and McDonalds. It is perfect chocolate flavor part buttery and sweet but not overly sweet i.e. McDonald's and they don't fill the cup with whipped cream but with hot chocolate unlike other places. I also like the caramel chocolate chip muffins that they have as well they are smaller than at other shops however they taste great and aren't pricy read more

This is the worst run Starbucks I've ever tried. Perhaps there is no trained manager to keep the team on task? Fool that I was, thinking I could hop in and grab some coffee and oatmeal on the way to the lab to start an early experiment. I waited for over 10 minutes as they "prepared" something they didn't even have in stock. The kicker: my drink (the one item they did complete) is tepid and it was made improperly! Ha. Fantastic. I feel silly writing a review of a Starbucks. There shouldn't be much variability. You either know what a Starbucks offers or you don't. However, this Starbucks has an amazing staff that knows how to handle a high volume, high-throughput crowd. In the mornings, when the commuter trains and subways arrive at South Station across the street, the lines in this Starbucks can go out the door and into the lobby of the building. But the folks that work here get through those lines in minutes. The Starbucks corporation should take note and use this location as its model for training. These guys are doing things right. read more

Despite the delicious latte's being like liquid crack for me, I go to this place because the staff rocks. Even when the line is around the corner full of annoyed looking business people, the baristas greet you with a smile and usually make jokes. The service is pretty fast considering the huge lines, and waiting never seems bad because the place has got decent space and nice big windows to alleviate any claustrophobia a darker cramped Starbucks can give you when its busy. Two entrances help that out too. Today the barista who made my latte spun the whip cream container in his hand really well before applying it to my friends Vanilla Creme. He should get 5 stars just for moves like that. I don't know anyones name, because I only go once a week or so, but I hope to get to know all you guys. This is one of my favorite starbucks. With ample seating both outside and inside, you will probably have a table. Most people buy their coffe and leave anyways. I had lunch here but there weren't many options. I settled for a panini. Great location too- its near South Station. I wish there was a toilet though! read more

After being contacted by both Starbucks and a Starbucks social rep, I have to say they're trying very hard to make it up to me. To be fair it was apparently MLK day and things were running a bit behind that day. I've been assured by the manager the staff was told how to better handle situations like that. Very efficient and friendly service! I stopped to grab a mid-day pick me up while I explored Boston on my own. The cashier didn't get irritated when I couldn't get my mobile card to load. :) And my drink was finished by the time my card loaded & paid! Not a lot of seating, I think most people just come down from the towers to grab a drink. read more

Long line in the mornings but it moves fast. Staff are very efficient - I witnessed a couple of people complaining that their drinks were forgotten, but these gaffes were remedied quickly and cheerfully. There are no soft chairs to enjoy your coffee in, only stools at a counter and low tables (sad face). But this location does well on my universal yardstick: they make a smooth, creamy, chocolatey-tasting latte. read more

Huge fan of this Starbucks! Ever since I started working in this building, (talk about convenience,) I have accidentally made myself a regular at this place. All of the barista's are super friendly and very efficient, which is necessary seeing that the line consistently extends out the door into the atrium of the building every morning around 9am. But the staff here works quickly, methodically and productively to keep the line moving while still conversing with the regulars as well as witty conversation between themselves which promotes a sense of unity and teamwork. They make the coffee exactly as you request it and really remember it if you consistently come in. My co-worker likes to get his latte at 170 degrees, (trust me, I know it's over the top,) But when I walk in they ask if I'm picking up for him and if I say yes they'll make it exactly how he likes it. When/If I ever leave this job, I'll be super sad to leave this Starbucks behind. read more

There is no doubt that this is a very busy Starbucks. But the staff here really know how to be efficient and keep the line moving. And on top of that, every one of them that has waited on me has been friendly and helpful. For example this morning as I approached the counter to order the new Dark Cherry Mocha, the cashier said "oh good choice. It comes with whipped cream and some chocolate shavings." When I told her I didn't want the whipped cream she smiled and said "how about the chocolate shavings. They're really worth it." And so I did. And so they were. And no matter how busy they are, my drinks have been consistently made well and never wrong. read more

The line for this one has been shorter than other options on my walk to work, so I was wooed by a short wait time. In my caffeine deprived haste, I failed to note that this one is more expensive than usual! The one tucked into the Citizen's Bank across Atlantic Ave always has a longer line, but is regularly priced. (Note: the lines ARE long, but I'm never in line as long as I expect them to be - it moves pretty quick) Well it's always a line out the door when I come in, but given that I come in the morning - it's expected. The baristas are definitely do their best to get the line moving. However, I had to switch Starbucks. I've only ever had ONE frappacino that tasted like a frappacino. I'm not sure why, but every frappacino I've ever had at this location has somehow been "messed up." - whether it had chunks of ice, wasn't shaken up at all, it's ONLY ingredient was creme...once is understandable, but it's ALWAYS something. They ARE busy in the morning, so I don't know if that's the reason it always gets messed up - but those frappacinos aren't worth that much money if they're made sloppy every - single - time. I switched to the one on Summer St. Pros: most of the baristas are super nice/friendly/personable, do a good job of getting their lines moving Cons: their frappacinos are terrible/poorly made - since that's all I get, it's not worth coming back; there's a couple of baristas that will hardly say 2 words to you read more

This is a standard Starbucks with a few bonuses. First the location is great if you just need to meet up with someone over a coffee. It is right across from South Station, and one of the subway exits comes up just steps away from the door. Second, the location on the lobby level of a large building mean that there is a TON of seating for the location right outside of the actual cafe. If you need to pull up a table for two or need seating for a larger group to gather, this can meet your needs far better than most Starbucks I've visited. read more

Not sure if their drinks are too sweet for me, but I can't stand it. I got a frappucino and it was THE most FOUL drink I've ever had. If I didn't have to leave for work, I would've complained. All the drinks I've ever tried were gross, except the refresher and green tea latte. On top of that they get my order wrong half the time. I always went to starbucks as a last minute stop before work thinking I can make it (I work across the street) and that's a joke. They're so ridiculously slow! I never have a problem with this store or the staff but they have a new cashier. I think his name is Brown - he is tall with blonde hair. Today, before he waited on me, he took a moment to put some gun in his mouth and proceeded to chew it like a cow. I consider this offensive by any customer service person. I watched him as I waited for my coffee and he continued to chew with his mouth open while he took orders, he also frequently touched his face and hair. This Starbucks just WORKS for me. They are used to a very high volume of people, and have the staff to deal with it. The manager (Suresh) amongst them, are super professional and friendly to deal with. Even with the line out the door, you can usually get through the whole process of going through the line, paying, and waiting for your drink in about 6-7 minutes. That level of efficiency is astounding, but they blow me away with how quickly they manage when there isn't a line. Almost all the baristas have a smile on their face, even early in the AM. 3PM is a big rush time for this location but mornings have gotten a little better since the location within South Station opened up. read more

Hmm, I call and "Peter" answers, and yet he hangs up. Is this some new type of customer service practice? "Yes, sir, I answered the phone but there was no one there." The first time, I thought it was a mistake, but by the third time, Hello!, I realized that this was New England customer service at it's finest. Coffee is perfectly good Starbucks - what else would you expect? - but as others have noted, rude, unhelpful staff make this not a fun place to be. read more

They get three stars because they are a well oiled machine as far as efficiency and pumping out drinks in a timely manner HOWEVER ever since new management took over a few months ago staff rarely smiles, not warm and friendly like it used to be. Also- not sure why the website says they open at 530am when doors don't open closer til 5:50am. They never make the drinks right here, and that usually means they don't put enough espresso in and the drinks tastes kinda gross. Seems like either their machines don't work right or they're badly trained.
