We received a referral to Harshita and at first, I was very skeptical about using a tax advisor when I figured we could just do our taxes ourselves on Turbotax (how hard can it be right?!). My husband convinced me to give it a try given that her prices were VERY reasonable. In the first year we worked with her, without us asking her to, she reviewed our prior year tax filing and found mistakes I made that got us an additional TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS in refund!!! Whaaattt?!?!? She fixed that and filed our current taxes, walking us through the whole process very easily. Her process is that she sends you a checklist, you gather everything on it, she will call or email you with some additional questions/info needed, you provide it (and can revise earlier answers if you find more info), you pay her the fees, she files your taxes. She is always accessible on phone, text etc, even throughout the year for tax questions, and explains complicated tax concepts very clearly. My accounter Harshita is the best! There is no way you would be disappointed by either her knowledge or price. I used to file tax return myself. Because one year, an agent with 5 stars on yelp gave me a quote and showed that I would get $4000 refund. But I could see, he was more like in-n-out. Yes, he did the job very quick and obviously didn't ask me questions. I told him I was in the Army and I had this and that. But he didn't seem to be getting it. Maybe someone was waiting. So I told him I had some documents left out at home, and left. Guess what, I then did the tax return by using an app and I got $6000 refund. So I was more believing myself until I met Harshita. Because I got married and based on my situation, at the beginning of December 2016, I started to do new research online to look for a good accounter. My main purpose is to have my wife get her ITIN number before I file the 2016 tax return. I opened the list that IRS posted "https://www.irs.gov/individuals/acceptance-agents-california" and started calling agents listed on it. Harshita is the second one on the list for Irvine area. She didn't answer my phone call at the first time. But thanks to the missed, I had the chance to call the rest agents in Irvine on that list. None of them obtained my trust. None of them think I could get my wife a ITIN before filing 2016 tax return. I have to apply for it during the time when I file 2016 tax return which will be a time-consuming process. They made me feel like they were not knowledge enough or not care about new customers. And you know what, their prices are high. Maybe you've heard someone paid more than $300 on filing tax returns. That is their price. Then I finally got the call back from Harshita. Because of the previous phone calls, I kinda gave up and was cautious when talking to her. But she gained my attention because after I told her my main purpose of this call, she didn't say it was impossible for me to have my wife get her ITIN before filing my 2016 tax return. She started asking me questions, patiently. She was good at asking questions and found out solutions from my answers even I was a little cautious to her. She realized my wife and I got married before 2015 but I claimed single when filing my 2015 tax return. Then she had a way. I could apply for INIT by amending myself as married for 2015 tax return. What a smart idea. It is a win-win way. I would get more money back, and my wife would get her ITIN in 4~6 weeks. Then I would start filing my 2016 tax return without any stop! That is actually what I want. See how knowledgeable and experienced she is. And the fee that she charges for doing amend is reasonable. Last week, my wife got her INIT. And I went to her office and file my 2016 tax return today. I told my wife on way to her office that the filing fee would be around $300 to $400 because that is the average price I heard from other agents or companies. But, when my wife and I saw the contract, we were shocked. The fee she charged is way less than $300. I won't say how much it was, it may depend on your situation, I don't know. When I saw the price, I was saying "Wait what? that is it?" Yes, that was what came out from my mouth at that moment. It was a very reasonable price. My wife and I were happy today.
