However, when I picked her up, she was shaved almost completely bald -- including her face and head -- which drastically changed her appearance. When I questioned why her head and face were cut so short, I was told she had mats there. The owner later acknowledged that she "did not" have matting on the top or sides of her head. That contradiction is extremely concerning. There is a significant difference between "cut short" and shaving a dog down entirely. For a $110 service, clearer and more honest communication should be standard. A full refund was discussed, and I am still waiting for confirmation on how that will be handled.

Instead of caring about the well being of an animal you are going above and beyond to try to avoid paying for the dogs vet bill. Please keep in mind we are talking about $143.23. These people are in desperate need of money which is why they are going above and beyond to try and protect themselves. They don't care about your pets and will not support you in any way that does not result in a profit for their little business. This should have been handled differently and professionally. My dog's dew claw was completely cut off during a grooming appointment at The Barkery Bistro on Augusta Street. When I picked my dog up, she was actively bleeding onto my sweatshirt. She was clearly in pain and distressed. Even after seeing her bleeding, they still charged me, only reducing the grooming fee by "half." It wasn't until I realized the severity of the injury and brought it to their attention later that they refunded that charge. I took my dog to the vet and consulted other groomers, all of whom expressed shock at the injury and how much pain my dog must have been in during the grooming. Instead of taking responsibility, the owners Mishelle Shunp and her son JJ Shump tried to pressure me into signing a mutual release. I told them I would not sign anything. I provided photos and vet documentation and requested reimbursement for the vet bills. Since then, they have gone completely silent and are refusing to reimburse me. This was not a minor accident. This was a serious injury, handled with zero accountability and zero respect. I would never trust this business with another animal and strongly warn others to think twice. I've also added the poorly written "mutual release" that they tried to get me to sign. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE.

I stopped by since I was thinking of one of my girlfriends whom we were all out together the night before who has her precious dog named Connor and texted her about it. There were different reps from the companies whose pet food brand are carried at this store. This is serious stuff, some are just a state or two away so the food is more fresh. The flavors for the food sounded quite appealing and it was amazing to learn that there are different ones depending on the food allergies that the dog or cat may have, whether old or young, size, etc. My Hubby has tons of allergies (thus one reason for no pets and he was smart not to ask me to choose between him and my cat when we got married decades ago) and these food options were quite amazing. These were dry food but there were also canned (and other packaged that needs to be refrigerated). I decided to go into the store and it almost felt like when our kids were young, when we would go to the mall and stop by the Disney Store! The aisles were nicely laid out, clean. I never realized how large the store was as I never walked to this end of Publix strip at Five Forks. The staff were very friendly and upbeat and wow, towards the back is like pet spa for dogs (maybe cats too) as I saw one large dog getting prepped to go to his "room" and there were signs of the different treatments. I'm posting photos of the store and of the Expo. They were handing out treats to the dogs that were there and the store staff were wearing costumes. Definitely telling my friend about this place as I know she treats her dog with a silver spoon. I don't know what pet prices are like, though they seemed to be having a special with this event. What makes the difference between this shop and most others? They LISTEN!! To what you're saying, and what you can't describe. My dog is not easy to trim; his hair grows in all directions! But they understood what and how to do him. They even did things I forgot to ask for. He looked and smelled SO much better! I like the fact that I don't have to get him in before 8 am, and that it's not after 5 before I can pick him up! My little guy doesn't sit in a carrier all day at home. Why should he have to sit in one all day, waiting to be washed, fluffed and trimmed? These ladies don't do that! Try them out (if you can find an opening). You won't be disappointed!
