We have been using The Ultimate Pet Lodge since moving to SC 14 years ago. We have brought the 3 Golden's we have rescued over the years for grooming. Never, ever have we had a problem. I am shocked by some of these reviews. I have never had any issues. My most recent Golden is elderly and they take such good care of her. Our last Golden was exhibiting some concerning symptoms while being groomed. The owner called me to discuss and sent me pictures so I could show the vet. I highly recommend them! read more

The pets are well cared for and doted over by the attendants. Groomers do an excellent job. Our pug used to regret going to our previous boarder. Now she goes willingly with the handlers. A little pricey but the best we have found. read more

I took my golden retriever there for daycare and I asked if I could tour or see where the dogs played and I was told it's a liability for me to go back there so I thought that was odd because everywhere I have considered- I was able to tour it. But my golden loved going but he would constantly be soaking wet when I picked him up and I finally asked him why is he wet if he's indoors and they said he plays in the dog bowls and I asked them if it was possible to redirect him from not getting wet and they told me if I wanted that then he can play by himself. I also ended up getting my dogs vaccines done by a friend who owns a boarding place in wellford and then they would not let me take my dog back because it wasn't a vet that gave it to him but I had the vaccine file and proof and though I understand their concern- how the owner handled it was so rude. Basically told me it wasn't her problem that I can't bring him anymore. Good thing he won't ever be back anyways. And to add in a grooming tip- my golden had matted ears from playing so much in the water they let him play in every day - that he was getting yeast infections. I asked them to groom his ears and they shaved his ears. SHAVED THEM. He's a golden. My heart was shattered to see them mess up his coat like that. Definitely do not recommend. read more

I'm not one to write a review unless the company is very good or very crappy. Being that it's 3 a.m. and I can't sleep because of what happened on Saturday, I'll let you guess the reason (if you care to continue). We have taken our dog to this place for the 3 years we've lived in this area. Never once (in the 10 extended stays) have we had or heard of any issues with them having our dog there, so when we booked her there for the next extended stay, we found it kind of odd that they required us to have her there for a day visit to "see how she will do". We thought 'whatever they want.....fine'. Well, taking her there was easy. I brought her there when they opened, as per their request, and had no problem dropping her off, but as I was pulling in the driveway at home, I got a call from my wife saying I needed to pick our dog up because they couldn't handle her. Just for a time reference, I live 7 minutes from this business. Now, mind you, I've never seen this lady before who took our dog into the back, but I later found out she was the owner/groomer. My wife also informed me that she told the person on the phone that I'd be back there to get my dog with the reply "oh. So you have to have your husband come to get her, now?" I was the one who dropped her off!!! When I returned to get my dog, I asked what she tried to get her used to her. I asked if she even tried any of the treats (I recommended the beef lung treats I used for training) I left for this day visit because the usual lady that I'd drop my dog off with was very knowledgeable on how to get dogs to trust a stranger. Well, this woman (who I later found out was an owner), got very frustrated and grabbed out a pig's ear treat and yanked my dog back to the back like she was trying to prove something to me. I was kind of surprised my dog didn't bite the shit out of her right there since this woman clearly had no idea how to treat dogs who don't know who the heck you are. When she came back from the back room, it took her and another woman about 5 minutes to search for a recording they did on someone's phone to prove that my dog was "aggressive for no reason." After finally getting to watch this short clip, I noticed that this woman did just about everything possible to subtly provoke a negative response from my dog. Just so you know a little history, my dog has been trained and is sometimes a little happy to meet new people, but also, I looked into everything I could find about this business. Apparently, the owner/groomer has caused a lot of vet bills for customers after cutting dogs with trimmers and has frustrated others with the butchering of haircuts. The lady who used to do very well with my dog apparently quit in the last year along with a bunch of other staff due to the terrible work conditions and behind-the-scenes treatment of people's pets, including you paying for a suite but your dog just being crated due to overbooking, the live video feeds of your pet during their stay that has never come to fruition due to excuse after excuse that I can only now believe is because they don't want you to accidentally see what really goes on there. In conclusion, if you really love your pet and want to be able to trust who you leave them with, this is not the place for you. It's basically a turd wrapped in gold foil.....on the inside, it's still a turd. read more

I had seen The Ultimate Pet Lodge was close to where I live. My dog Molly needed her nails clipped and her ears cleaned. I called around 9am-10am and they told me I could come in later that day. When I got there, around 3:40pm, we we're in and out in less than 20 mins. :) Also, the price was Alot less than was i had excepted. So, for the price, fast service , and the nice staff they had, i would definitely take my baby girl molly back again read more

We brought my dog there to be groomed once and we loved it. We called, made an appointment and she was taken the next day. My dog is a part of my family and I'm pretty particular about where I will bring her. However, my opinion has drastically changed since then. I called last week to make an appointment and was told that they were looking at about a little more than a month out. I said I'd really like my pup to be seen sooner than that, given it's so hot and my pup has a thick coat. The woman on the phone said she'd put me on a waiting list. In retrospect, I realize I should have made an appointment when I picked her up last time, but given that she was seen so quickly, I incorrectly assumed that appointments could be made for the immediate future. Fast forward to today, I call to see where we are at, and if my pup will be able to be seen soon. I am told we are now looking at July 31st. Apparently, there were 30 people ahead of me on the waiting list. I blame this on a lack of communication between the employee and myself, had I known this information I certainly would have booked my dog for the next available appointment. The real problem began when I spoke to the owner. She was rude, condescending and extremely unprofessional. She complained to me that she has two people out on sick leave and that she is working 6 days a week, taking 28 dogs a day. She told me that I refused a place holder appointment when I called previously (untrue) and that the notes said I would try to take dog elsewhere (also, not true). She is clearly unhappy with her schedule, and lack of employees and took it out on me on the phone. I am not heartless, I can understand that thinks happen, people get sick / take time off and sometimes it's just busy. What I will not tolerate is being spoken to rudely and being flat out disrespected. To the owner, you told me that you have been in business for 30 years. I am going to assume that today was just a bad day for you, but I certainly hope this is NOT how you treat customers on a daily basis. I am owed an apology for the way you spoke to me and if this is how you treat me I certainly will never bring my dog there. read more

We've been using these folks for a while for our dog. Probably the cleanest pet place I've ever seen. There's not even a hint of offensive odor when you walk in. The staff is super friendly and they always remember our dogs name. We have used them for week long vacations, long weekends, or just for the day. The doggie day care is great if your dog is in the house all day and needs some exercise and play time with other dogs. It has made our dog much better adjusted and happier when she is home. Also our six year old son loves being able to check in on his dog on the live web cams. Highly recommend! I wish all boarding places were like this. read more

I took my German Shepherd Dog, Shiloh, to Marc and Michelle for several years. They cared for her like I would. She loved the doggie day care She loved being groomed. The location is very convenient. It is only 10-15 minutes from the airport. The facility is clean and beautiful. It never has an offensive odor. I just got another GSD last night and this is where I will take her. read more

I cannot say enough good about the Ultimate Pet Lodge! My Bernese Mtn. Dogs have only been there two times and they already love this place! I sent them to Doggie Day Care today, and as soon as I pulled up to the building, my year old Berner went crazy. He couldn't wait to get inside. My pups go to daycare and have been boarded. It's always clean and they have a great time. All the workers are wonderful and they greet Kit and Denver like they are their own family. Just buyer beware here: something has changed. I have been taking my two Shih Tzu's here for over three years and was always satisfied until recently. They completely butchered my dogs hair on our last three visits and not only did they not do what I asked them to do but they left the hair uneven, not blended and choppy. I was giving them a third chance this morning thinking that maybe they had been rushed or the dog was wiggly, or maybe I hadn't made myself clear enough so when I dropped my one dog off this morning I went into specifics not just regarding how I wanted her hair trimmed but also all of the things I had been dissatisfied about. I only wanted her face and feet trimmed, not any full clipping or anything, when I went to go pick her up they didn't bring her out until I had already paid. Sure enough she was butchered again, uneven and with her face and head shaved short. On top of all of this the groomer said "just so you know her eyes have been oozing blood the whole time she was here". I don't know why they wouldn't call me as soon as it started. This honestly almost scared me to death. My dogs are a part of our family and we love them more than words can say. I immediately rushed her to the vet where the Dr closely examined her eyes, even looking at them under a magnifier. There were no cuts, scratches, signs of infection, or even any redness. she said there was no way a dogs eyes would just spontaneously bleed and then stop. So now I have not only spent money on an awful hair cut, but also an unnecessary vet bill. I can't even describe how much anxiety I had and how frightened my family was. I will never bring my animals there again and I will warn everyone I can to STAY AWAY. read more
