"Star Nails" is my new favorite nail salon! It's on the north side of Sunset Drive, in the strip mall east of West Ave. Kayla and King are friendly and professional AND very artistic! The atmosphere is cozy and no frills, just great, professional nail treatments. I prefer powder fills and am always satisfied when Kayla or King is finished with my nails. Do not go here! This place was recommended to me after receiving a gift card. I got a pedicure and gel manicure. I paid 40 bucks out of pocket for the gel manicure and used a 25 dollar gift card for my pedicure. My nails were chipped after a week. I called and the owner told me I could come back in. I went in and she didn't soak my nails she just painted over the chipped gel and the next day it all peeled off. When she was painting over the chipped gel she was rude and blaming me for it. I was looking for a place to have my bridal party get their nails done. I will not be having it here. I needed a dip and pedicure and didn't have a lot of time. I called Star because I was near according to my GPS. This place was very clean, organized and the two gals were ready to help! This is a small family-owned business and the two young women working there put in 6 days a week. They did an awesome job! The pedicure was relaxing and while getting that, the other woman soaked off the dip and reapplied a fresh coat. Dips can finish thick and less natural looking. My nails are beautiful and super durable. I am thrilled with both services and found them to be reasonably priced. The technicians are extremely careful with their tools making sure everything is sanitized for each client. This shop offers a lot more services including waxing and I plan on making this my first and only stop. I've been getting these services for years and have been at a huge variety of shops. This one may be small, but they treat every client like they're the only client. In a world where nail salons are crowded and people are run through as quickly as possible, Star Nails in WAUKESHA is a breath of fresh air. Don't confuse it with Star Nails in Pewaukee. We were in there way too long. However, I love my nails. I was there for two hours and arrived before four people that were gone before me. I received a pedicure first then had to wait an hour to fill my nails (no even a full set) and that was the horrible part. First come first serve and those girls didn't have appointments. I'll go back to try a second time but I'll make sure i have no obligations the day i go. Customer service is the key and first come first serve walk in bases. i love my nails. I've never been treated so poorly at any establishment as I was at Star Nails! I'd never return after today. It's sad that we work so hard and try to treat ourselves, but have business owners/workers who couldn't care less about anything other than a $! Prices are listed but they tried to jack the prices up and say they always had those hidden fees when I've been a regular since I moved here a few months ago. Never again. Went here twice because it is close. First time I had a shellac manicure and pedicure, and the second time I got a full gel set. The pedicure was fine with a friendly tech. They charge extra for callous removal, but many places do. The shellac manicure peeled off within 10 days. The tech was hurried and rude and her work station less than ideal. I only went back a second time in the hopes of a different tech, but no such luck. The same tech was ruder to me than before, actually yelling at me to relax my hands on numerous occasions (she was very, very rough with filing, it hurt! Plus, a little tense from being yelled at when I went to relax). Her work station was filthy this time and she did a bad job...nails badly filed, uneven lengths and polish not covering all edges. I just wanted to be done and get out of there. Almost didn't leave her a tip for such service, but decided to be a better person and left $5. Will never, ever go back. Avoid. read more

I had asked for a gel French manicure.. For 35$ and then a tip.. I would never come back here. The lines are not done well u can see where it doesn't touch the end of the nail or that the line isn't smooth looking that it looks like it was dragged down a little.. My mother-in-law and I went for a mani/pedi on the Friday before the 4th. My GEL manicure was chipped and peeling by Sunday. I've been getting gel manicures for over 4 years now, so I know that the technician skipped at least two steps (alcohol rub and gel bonding agent) before applying the gel topcoat. I got the deluxe pedicure and the products she used on my legs were amazing as was the pedicure chair. However, my toe nails look like I painted them myself and the 2 techs were rushing through the pedicures which puts a very bad taste in my mouth because the whole reason I get them is to RELAX. I also do not recommend getting eyebrow waxing done here. Eyebrows are not waxed in segments but rather wax goes all around your brow and they do the whole brow at once. Which not only doesn't feel great, but also leads to missing areas that should have been noticed. The place says "walk-ins welcome" but that really isn't the case. The two of us had appointments but there were A LOT of people they asked to come back and/or they couldn't service. And then, the waiting room fills up and you have eyes glaring at you for your entire service. This place lost at least a few hundred dollars worth of walking services over the 90ish minutes we were there. This could have been avoided if they had more than two techs working. It's s Friday before a holiday, why not have more staff working? The atmosphere is great. My tech was very nice and pleasant. Place seems clean, it's really open and sunny and the pedicure chairs make you feel like you've gotten an actual massage. Sadly, poor management and quality of the manicure will most likely prevent me from coming back. I dropped $100 ($85 for services, $15 for tip) and when I am spending that amount, I expect quality. My advice? Go appointment only, have more technicians on the floor during peak times, and SLOW DOWN so your clients may receive quality services. read more

I'm sad as I really liked them. But when I'm getting a pedicure, don't start my manicure to rush me out the door. First time my toe nail Polish didn't last 2 weeks. My shellac didn't last either. Really bummed by being rushed out and I also can't say I felt overly welcome there either. While sitting there, employees would speak in another language (which I'm cool with), then look at me or another customer and laugh (which I'm not cool with). HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! They were very rude to my friend and I, never coming back here again

I want to start off by saying I usually don't post reviews but my experience was so horrible it's laughable. I called for a specific time (20 mins prior to the appointment) I showed up 3 mins late due to construction on sunset and having a newborn baby at home. Both my friend and I were getting pedi and manis done. My friend and I were rushed to pick a color. The lady who did my nails was extremely rude to me. Asked me if I was pregnant (168 pounds and I'm 5 6) granted I just had a baby 2 months ago and was actively talking to my friend who I was with about nursing the baby at home. She then proceeded to file my nails down at the pedicure chair, did not ask me the shape or anything like that rushed me over to the mani station and finished my nails and toes in less than an hour. 5 days later my mani is already peeling off and I spent almost 80 dollars for both. Honestly the worst experience I have ever had at a place and will never go back. My friends nails were done in the pedi chair and had polish all over her fingers and looked like a a child did them.
