The teachers are very experienced and well trained. Suzy the owner has owned this place since the 90's and has done a beautiful job maintaining such a wonderful school. My daughter felt safe here (our number one priority), and had so much fun learning through play! This school did an amazing job preparing her for kindergarten!! My boys had both been with a private nanny their entire lives - and we were extremely nervous about transitioning them away from private home care and into a school environment. The Merryhill team was fantastic and so supportive during the transition. My youngest especially had a difficult time with the transition. The teachers were so patient and kind with his crying at drop off - and would provide us updates on how he was doing via the school app. I also really like how they have big windows into each classroom; I am able to watch my boys and see how happy they are in their classroom before they notice I am there to pick them up. Both of my boys absolutely adore their teachers (Ms. Lindsey, Ms. Liz, Ms. Nicole, and Ms. CeCe) and look forward to seeing their friends every day. Beyond my boys being comfortable and happy - they have also learned so much in their time at Merryhill. Nearly every day I'm surprised by something new they've learned - like my 4 year old learning how to count up to 100, count in tens, learning the months of the year, and starting to read. My youngest learns new words every day, has learned his colors, how to count to ten, and is learning important social skills (like how to share). We feel very fortunate to have found this school and have already re-enrolled them both for next year.

They take 3 month through preschool aged kids, with developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum for each age group. Our daughter is part of the infant room - where they use the app, Kinderlime. Over the course of the day, I receive alerts about her diaper changes, her naps, her feeding schedule, and photos of her activities. (seriously - my kid has been painting since 5 months old! hah). Through the app they can message parents directly and respond to questions. The staff are incredible - the infant room teachers are absolutely wonderful and feel like an extended part of our family. They are always willing to provide me with advice, or simply chat about my child. Even the teachers from the other rooms know our daughter's name, and I often hear stories and feedback from Ms. Suzanne herself about my daughter. It's truly individual care, and everyone knows every child. Now that she's almost 1.5, my daughter comes home with all kinds of things she has learned from AKL - like sign language, and amazing motor skills, and new songs. I know that working moms often feel guilty about time apart from their child, but I know that my daughter gets so much more out of being at AKL than I could ever give her alone. We absolutely LOVE it - and so does she.

So, I've been a client of AKL for about 2 years. The school I started at is far from what it is…read morenow. I waited to post this review until after my children had left, as I fear retaliation by the director of the school. If you're considering going here because the facility is cute and the teachers are nice, run. Please run. The only reason I stayed so long was the two teachers my children had cared so much about them they kept them safe from Other aspects of this school that are just terrible. However the upper management is so terrible that all of the good teachers are gone and the ones that have stayed are almost being abused. It's truly horrible. The new teachers, I couldn't tell you, they have never introduced themselves to me. I was scolded by an apparent new staff and few weeks ago, who I don't even know the name of (she wears crocs and has long brown hair). I thought she was a parent at first. This all comes from the top, my biggest issue, and the issue most people have had is with the Director Suzanne. She's the epitome of all the things we've learned not to do when raising children, yet she raises the children with all the toxic aspects we now know are bad. I've even heard her talk about Mexican women's eyebrows as "chola" brows and multiple times she's tried to sell me on her daughters MLM. Teachers have told me they yell at the kids when no one's watching. I went to the owner, Edmond, multiple times but he really does not care. It's wild, he owns this business and has a daughter but my emails were met with kind words and literally nothing else. Expect when Ms. Suzanne confronted me about a private email of concern I had send Edmond about her that she had read. We ended up arguing at drop off and I was late for work that day. The schools been claiming they're raising Tuition to fix the buildings, they've been claiming this for years, I have never seen anything fixed, only things deteriorate more. The only thing I experienced was the lock on the gate not working for months, and nothing being done until a homeless man entered the school and they had to do an active shooter drill. Yes, babies, and toddlers doing their first reason active scooter drill. The only reason I know this is because a teacher was so shaken at pick up I made her tell me. THE SCHOOL DID NOT EVEN LET PARENTS KNOW. I hope they get it fixed because it's a beautiful school with some very nice teachers that they underpay and are literally horrible to. I am not the only one that thinks this, many families have left because Ms. Suzanne had picked on them until they feel they're not welcome. Many teachers have left because they dont agree with the ways she micromanages them and treats the children. There are SO many other wonderful schools that are cheaper, nicer, and safer. Save yourself the headache and find something else.
