I went to watch the F1 movie I'm a huge fan of F1 and I took my niece with me who also loves F1 the person who directs you were to go sent us to the wrong cinema we were already few minutes late and the movie was playing we assumed it had started so we sat down and watched not realising that we had been sent to the wrong movie and it was half way through already . This ruined the movie for me as we only realised at the end we were sent to the wrong one . read more

Affectionately referred to by some as 'Stab City' (doesn't take a wild imagination to guess why) this is a kind of a shell of an entertainment venue. Yes, the Vue cinema is fine and has loads of screens - so whilst it gets busy you can normally see whichever film you want without feeling rammed into the last seats. The restaurants are all chains - and very bland ones at that. There used to be a fairly decent Mexican, but even that has now gone and been replaced by a KFC/Nandos/McDs/delete as appropriate. There's a casino, but I have no interest in that, and there's a bowling alley / amusement arcade which is always rammed with tweens. When it was first built, there was a climbing centre spanning the interior dome of the atrium, and they installed a dry ice slope to sledge down alongside the escalators.. there was also shops to keep people entertained, but slowly and surely these have all closed down. Now it's just a large vacuous space with chain restaurants, a chain cinema, and a gaudy casino skirting the edges. I go to Star City on the very rare occurrence they're showing a film I want to see that isn't on elsewhere, or if I manage to score free tickets via showfilmfirst or a similar offer. Star City is out of the centre of Birmingham and you really need to own a car to access the place. The cinema is fantastic, there is so much more leg room than your average cinema, with plenty of choice of films playing late into the night. The toilets are spotless as is the cinema itself. The security guards make sure nothing untoward is going on in any of the late night films and the seats are set out better than a normal cinema. The price seems average for a cinema trip (£6) with reductions for students. Worth making the extra trip for the level of luxury and choice of films. read more

I have been to Star City a few times now, to watch a film at the Vue Cinema and to have a bite to eat. This is a decent entertainment complex with everything under one roof. Lets start with the restaurants - McDonalds, Harvester, Pizza Hut and Bella Italia just to name a few. I have eaten in Real China which serves Chinese style buffet cuisine. It was a-ok but nothing special so I wouldn't return in a hurry. As for the entertainment side of things they have mini golf, a Vue cinema, a Virgin Active gym, Ten Pin Bowling, a Laser Quest the list goes on! So lots to keep the kids and adults entertained! Parking can be tricky here, especially at weekends so I would recommend allowing plenty of time to find a space so that you can catch your film with time to spare. I thought that I'd enjoy Star City in that ritzy Las Vegas, so-bad-it-is-good, unashamedly trashtastic fun kind of way. Unfortunately, I walked away really confused about the place and a bit sad that it wasn't more, you know, starry. It is a massive out of town entertainment complex, with a big cinema, an indoor mini golf course, a few fair rides, bowling alleys and amusement arcaded. There are also several fast foods joints alongside some bars and restaurants of the Nando's and La Tascas variety. It was busy with teenagers and families, who I guess are the target market. For me though, the whole place felt kind of soulless and bland. As one of my fellow reviewers has pointed out, the place feels unfinished. It all feels rather half-arsed. Here are the things that I think would make Star City better: indoor canal network with gondoliers, model village, petting zoo, ceiling lighting design that changes from day to night. read more

If you generally stick to the city centre for your weekend and evening fun, then I advise you give Star City a go at least once. The gaudy pleasures and sheer overindulgence this entertainment and leisure complex offers means it's great for a family day out during the holidays or as an alternative to Broad Street et al. for a Friday/Saturday night out. When it comes to food, you're looking at some big well-known chain names (Bella Italia, Harvester, Nando's, etc.) but there are also less familiar and quirky options including American diner Tinseltown and 'Bollywood'-style authentic Indian Shobha's. Once you're done stuffing your face, you can take in a flick at the Vue cinema, flaunt (& lose if you're unlucky) some cash at the Genting casino or, if you can still move around, indulge in a spot of laser-tag or bowling. So, fun for all the family or yet another option for friends looking for a night's entertainment. Due to its awkward location though, someone's gonna have to drive or you'll have to get a taxi, but the fare's not much from city centre for something a bit different. read more

When this place was first built, it was the exciting entertainment complex for Birmingham residents and actually I know of many people from other cities who would visit Star City to see what it was like. Years have passed and Star City is no longer that exciting entertainment hub. Don't get me wrong, if you'd like a nice day out with the family and want to experience something outside the city centre; then you'll need to give this place a try. It does have a lot of restaurants, there is a VUE cinema which is pretty amazing- it's just a shame it's been placed in Star City because I don't think people experience it as much. There's the regular food outlets i.e. McDonald's, KFC & Nando's however there are also a few other places such as, Harvester, Tinseltown & Shobha's if you fancy an Indian cuisine. The kids will enjoy it because there's a bowling alley and arcade where all the kids can play games and adults can enjoy too. For the grown-ups who like to gamble a little; theirs the casino. What I think lets Star City down is the amount of teenagers you find there. It's seems to be the place where all the kids take each other out on dates. Don't get me wrong, it must be fantastic business for them but it's put off a few people including me. There's also been a bit of trouble in the past around there and that's not helped the complex's reputation. Though I feel this way, I'd still recommend everyone living or visiting Birmingham to go and explore. read more

Vue Star City is a great cinema - Good screens, comfy seats and the largest by far with 30 screens, which means there is always a lot of choice on offer. Because of its location and sheer size, it can run many films which have already left other cinemas as well as catering for the large Asian community close by showing many Bollywood films. My only qualms are its location, which really needs a car to access, and the extortionate prices for both tickets and concessions. At last look, adult tickets are £7.15 each which, if you are going with friends on the weekend, can come to a tidy sum! Still, a good selection of restaurants and entertainment and can be happily combined with a couple of other things to make a fun day out. read more

I last went to Star City for a birthday celebration, to play a group session at Laser Station. Even though all the group were well into adulthood, we had a great time in our two teams, shooting each other, and generally running round like slightly inebriated Star Wars characters. After the session we played some grabber machines and my friend Lucy managed to walk away with something from every machine, so honed are her amusement arcade skills. A walk downstairs took us to the main area where bowling, drinking, dance-mat machine playing and general hanging out was happening in an open-plan environment. As a place where young people can come who are too young to drink Star City has a role of entertaining this age group. 'Keeping them off the streets', so so speak. Couples sit chatting, girls and boys mill around, and people watch people watching people. Flashing lights, chart music, the sound of balls rolling on polished wood, excited chatter. All in all, the whole place has the ambiance of being a small piece of Las Vegas transplanted to the Midlands. read more

Star City is a hub for entertainment. You can go there to watch a film, do some shopping, dine out, go to the gym, play football, take the kids to the funfair or even go the Entertainment Centre. This includes a bowling alley, arcades, bar, pool tables and fast-food restaurant. As you could imagine, it gets very busy over the weekends and holidays. I avoid going during the summer because the mixture of lots of children and the heat is very off-putting! Moreover, you usually have to wait for a free bowling aisle. The staff members are generally friendly but don't tend to go out of their way to enquire whether you need help. I think it would be worthwhile for them to stroll around once in a while so you could ask for help without trying to find someone. read more

Star City is easy to locate. It is situated just outside the Nechells area close to the M6. With it's luminous lights and fun fair rides, its hard to miss, especially at night. A great place for family fun if you're into bowling, pool or arcades. Seasonal circuses can also be found at the entertainment centre. Although a bit tacky and worn down in some areas, Star City is a great place to eat out at. It has an excellent variety of cuisines available with restaurants such as, Nandos, Pizza Hut, Shere Khan(Indian) and a new Chinese place too. Free parking also makes Star City an attractive place to come to, but this also means a nightmare in actually finding parking! There is loads to do here for families and adults. I have always been with children and we tend to make a day of it by going to the cinema, for a meal and for some bowling. Last time I went (a few months ago) they were opening a mini golf section and a climbing wall which will add to the time you can spend here. There is always plenty to do around Starcity. You can never get bored of the place, every time you go you can experience something new here. They have mini golf, lazer gun activity, numerous restaurants, a casino, bowling, bars, cafe's and of course the huge cinema. Occasionally, such as in half term, they will have a circus or a funfair taking over half the carpark for your amusent. Star City in Birmingham is one of the worst examples of an entertainment venue I have ever been to. Located just outside of the city centre in Nechells, and near to the M6, the location could be better. If you aren't familiar with the city then it can be difficult to get to, and with the constant queues the M6 is probably best avoided altogether! On one of my more recent visits I was less than impressed with the centre. The arcade was well below par with very little on offer, or machines that actually looked older than me. The bar and snooker area had seen much better days and were quite run down. The pool table repeatedly swallowed our money without us able to play. I was so put off by the bits I saw that I didn't bother to stay and sample the few restaurants on offer, or the cinema. Parking was a nightmare - I cant understand why so many people would be coming here though! If you're looking for a fun night out then I wouldn't recommend coming here. While it can often be easier to visit a place that all under one roof, I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

The staff look bored and you have to buy your tickets from a machine or at the kiosk they dont have anyone on the front desks anymore. This is one of the largest casino's in the country Its split over 3 floors. The basement being full of slot machines, and the main action up the esclators. The poker area is huge compared with normal casino's and there are some big money tournaments for those who like poker. Lots of roulette tables and blackjack, and furthermore casino stud poker seems to be open most of the time - unlike a lot of casinos I have visited The staff are polite and helpful and new comers are madew welcome The restaurant is excellent value but the last meal I had was dire and when I complained a young man who I was told was in charge grumbled an apology and offered me a free coffee - I would definitely steer clear, perhaps eating in one of the many alternatives within the star city complex Lots of free parking around Star City which is just off the M6 near Birmingham. I love Star City. With it's selection of restaurants, bowling alley and casino it makes a great night out with everything you need in one place. It's also easy to get to combined with the fact it's just off the motorway and there are regular buses from the city. What really makes it though it the gold class seating in the cinema. During the day in the week the price drops for £15+ to £8.20ish, which for a cinema ticket which includes free popcorn and a leather armchair to sit in with completely unrestricted views of the screen is great value. I try to come here whenever there's a film out I've been looking forward to. read more

Star city is a great complex. I could easily spend a whole day there, if money was no object. It's really eaasy to locate, just off the M6 motorway, and is impossible to miss with all the bright lights! There's something to suit everyone, a casino, cinema, arcades, mini golf, bars, restaurants and lots more. The vue cinema at star city recently hosted an xfactor finals exclusive party, where competition winners could watch the final on the big screen, with free food and drink all night, plus flags etc to support your favourite finalist. I wish I could have spent a lot more time there. The car park is massive, but on a Saturday night we found it almost impossible to get parked. I would definitely recommend going here if you go for a weekend away nearby. read more

When I think of Star City, I'm reminded of another place - Las Vegas. I've only seen Vegas in films, like. But Star City, with its gaudy bright lights and faux-stripmall sort of layout, really seems like Birmingham's little miniature attempt at it. Plus it has a casino. I suppose Star City is a bit more family-oriented than the decadent, hedonistic heights of Sin City. There are loads of family-friendly establishments and activities. Bowling, mini-golf, arcades and so on. It's all stuff to throw money away on, and it isn't cheap, but you can have a good time there with your mates. When busy, it tends to be full off the most irritating teenagers. If that's not your thing, be wary. read more

Star City has changed dramatically in the last year or so. Gone are the nightclubs - in are family leisure attractions like Adventure Island Mini Golf (36 holes of indoor crazy mini golf), Twin Peaks climbing, Laser Station, Tenpin and Vue Cinema. Add to this a myriad of eateries from McDonalds to Bella Italia; Subway to Nandos and enough places to get a drink and the Virgin Gym, Casino and Goals Soccer Centre and you have a fantastic leisure destination. read more

Star city boasts of a casino, pizza hut, nandos, megabowl, arcade, cinema, gym, and a few shops like Claires accessories. Most of these places offer student discounts or other deals. The car park is quite spacious, you will find a parking space most days, but i would recommend you arrive early on friday/saturday evenings, as it can get quite hectic and busy. Security guards are mostly stationed outside the arcade/megabowl, but you will also see them patrolling the rest of the precinct. Nandos has been known to have a long queue in the early afternoons and evenings, so i recommend you pre-book a table or order a takeaway and come and collect it. Pizza hut is the same, but it is a bigger restaurant, so you have a better chance of securing a table on less busy nights. The arcade can get quite addictive, especially the air hockey, so ensure you have enough change and a limit of how much you are willing to spend. Food at megabowl is quite pricey, so you would be better off eating at one of the other restaurants first. The vue cinema is massive, and queues start in the evenings, especially on Fridays and saturdays. Prices are quite reasonable, expecially with concessions like student/oap discounts. Popcorn/drinks are delicious, but expensive, so ensure you have enough money left over. The centre also offers other activities at certain times of the year, such as a circus, funfair and a haunted house. Overall, star city is quite an enjoyable, but pricey night out. It is good as a one-off visit for some special occasion/celebration or other, rather than a regular outing. read more

This place is ace, I and 4 friends had a great night out here last week.Me and my mates won over £500 pounds. You have a lovely restaurant with meals starting at the cheap price of a fiver, beer at £2.50 a bottle and the place has an electric atmosphere. Wes started of by playing blackjacl or 21 and we lost the first 3 rounds but the fourth round we started winning and we got a a 4 game winning run. Then we moved over to the roulette whell and we stayed there until 11pm. If you are careful with your money and only take out what you can afford to lose you will have a good night out, also free parking and free complemenatry snacks were provided by the very helpful staff. read more

The KFC here is a fucking piss take. I went there a 8:00pm the other day and they said the ran out of chicken?????? I seriously don't recommend it especially if you hungry and you want chicken. Also even if you would like chicken and they have it the wait is unbelievable!!! read more
