Last Night my Wife and I took our Covenant Group out for Dinner and a Movie at 'Star Cinema Grill' in the Springswoods area of Spring. We have been there before and this place is Absolutely Beautiful and the Food is Delicious. We rented out 'The Audrey', which is a Private Dinning area and Private Theater with those comfortable seats you can lay back in and enjoy the movie. But first, a little about 'Star Cinema Grill'. When you first walk into this place you are amazed at how Beautiful it is. The approach to the Ticket Area is Very Impressive. They even have Mask for those that forgot theirs - and their Entire Staff wears a Mask. Next is the Bar/Dinning area that is AwesomlyBeautiful. At first look you think you're on a Cruise and aboard a Very Beautiful Ship. Everything about this place is Elegant - even the walkways to each Theater - and the Restrooms - Yep, even them. My Wife said that she has a dress just like the carpet here - sure glad she didn't wear it last night, I might not find her. Now, back to the review - The Audrey Dining area was set up with separate tables for each couple social distanced apart. The Manager, Colleen, met with us and we went over the evening. Everyone arrived on time and MJ, our Private Server, took our drink orders and returned pretty quick with our drinks. I'm having their 'Frozen Jack-N-Coke' and my Wife is getting their 'Texas Mule'. F.J&C is my Favorite Drink and when it arrived I was totally impressed as to the appearance of this drink - it was Fluffed Up above the rim of the glass. This was a Pretty Good Drink and the taste of Jack - and it's Fluffed Up. My Wife enjoyed her 'Texas Mule' and had a couple of these during the evening. MJ, our Server, took all our orders and placed them electronically. Their Menu consist of 'Previews' as Appetizers, 'Feature Presentations' as Entrees (along with Pizza and 'Green Screen' for Salads) and 'Closing Credits' as Desserts. They also have listed 'Kids Corner' for the Kiddies. The other side of the Menu list all the Drinks they offer - and there is a lot of them with Very Cool Names, along with 'Classic Candy' and 'Quick Flicks' (Popcorn, etc..). They also have a lot of Draft Beers on Tap - that's always good to know. My Wife ordered their 'Love Me Tenders'; Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenderloins with Seasoned Fries, Texas Toast & Country Gravy. I am having 'The Godfather' (Pizza); Sausage, Pepperoni, Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms, Black Olives, Tomatoes and Cheese. Note: They make their own Crust here and you can also have their Cauliflower Crust. While we waited for our food we chatted and enjoyed our drinks - and I really enjoyed my Fluffy-Frozen Jack-N-Coke. This was some Good Stuff. Soon, and I mean Real Soon, MJ started bringing out our food. My Wife's 'Love Me Tenders' look really good and their 'Presentation' is Beautiful. My 'Godfather' also looks Very Yummy and it was. Nice Fresh Flavor of Everything and the Crust is Lightly-Crunchy-Liciousness. Everyone enjoyed their food and ate all they could but due to the abundance of food on each plate and there were plenty of To-Go-Boxes prepared. You get a lot of Deliciousness at Star Cinema - but I ate all of mine because that's what I do. 'Star Cinema' provides you with a list of Movies to choose from for your Private Showing and we choose 'The Personal History of David Copperfield' based on the 1850 Novel 'David Copperfield' by Charles Dickens, which is Very Interestingly Done Different-ly Movie you will ever see - or something like that. You also can bring in any Movie you want on DVD (except a Disney Film) and it will be shown on the Big Screen for your Private Groups Enjoyment. When Dinner was done, we took our seats in the Theater section of 'The Audrey' which has those Plush Seats and more. They also offer Blankets for you to wrap up in if that's what you want - and a lot of our Group did just that. This place really goes all out for Customer Service. My Wife and I grabbed some seats and opened up our Popcorn Boxes that they provided for Everyone - and started enjoying the Coming Attractions and the Popcorn. This Popcorn is pretty good. I'm not a Popcorn Eater per-say but - I finished off my entire box half way through the movie - It's That Good. We enjoyed the Movie and it's Delightful Weirdness. Our Server stayed with us the entire time providing the Best Service you could get anywhere - and this is at a Theater. The 'Star Cinema Grill' offers the Best Service along with Delicious Food in a Very Elegant Setting. They also have $5 Tuesdays for Movies and offer Special Drinks on various days for only $5 - such as the 'Texas Mule' on Thursdays along with 'Craftmans Boch' - a Very Dark Beer that some of our Group enjoyed - and did I tell you I enjoyed my 'Fluffy-Frozen Jack-N-Coke? - well, I did. Star Cinema Grill is a great place to catch a movie while enjoying a full dining experience. The seating is comfortable, and the whole setup makes it easy to relax and enjoy the film without feeling crowded. The food was surprisingly good for a theater--there's a solid variety on the menu, and everything we ordered came out fresh and flavorful. Being able to have meals and drinks brought right to your seat really adds to the experience. The service was attentive without being distracting, which made the whole visit feel smooth. The theater itself was clean, and the overall atmosphere was enjoyable. The only downside is that service can slow down a bit during busy showtimes, but overall it's a fun and convenient way to watch a movie. read more

My spouse and I went out for a movie night and I'm so thankful that this is theater we chose. There was no problem parking and once you open the doors the inside is beautiful. Truly sets itself apart from other theaters. We went to see obsession(wouldn't recommend this movie. lol), but our service and seats made the move selection not even matter as much. We purchased the two seater booth that came with popcorn and blanket. Our waiters were always polite and swift. The food was pretty good. We had the steak and a wrap. Can't complain. Next I have to take my kids during the summer movie fest and they will want to make sure they catch every movie. read more

Very nice theater with reclining seats. Seems to pretty new or is well kept. I attended a networking and movie event, which was wonderful. I found the lounge area very nice, along with a really good menu. The theater is really comfortable. My only issue is the tables at the seats don't move. I was able to slide in, but it took a little maneuvering to get up as a mobility impaired person. Parking on the surface lot is very limited. There is a garage really close with parking and an elevator. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Definitely, a theater I'll return to. read more

This is our first time here. My wife and I came to see "Disclosure Day". The concept of the theatre is nice. The staff were friendly. However the reclining seats were uncomfortable and the concessions were very expensive. We ordered a drink (soda), M&M's and popcorn, it was over 30 dollars, and the popcorn was so salty it was inedible. Overall experience was not great, definitely not worth the money. Jessica the general manager is rude. We went to watch spider man brand new day and they were having tech problems. The sound sounded like it was completely underwater. Muffled. After 30 minutes in they restarted the movie. No change, still the terrible sound. We went to go talk to the gm Jessica and she was very rude, told us she refused to refund us and walked away mid conversation. We went and talked to the manager Nathaniel. He was so hopefully. Fully refunded us, spoke very nice and even agreed Jessica was terrible. I will not be returning to this location while Jessica is the GM. I drive 45min out of the way specifically for this theater. Very nice theater. We did pay more for the premium pod, but worth it. We got a free blanket, free popcorn and privacy and separation from neighbors. So cool. Unfortunately it did not separate the odor from my neighbors as they smelt like weed. Thats not the theaters fault so I will not include that in my rating. We ordered fried pickles, they were good and we took advantage of the Sunday specials on drinks. They had $6 Sangrias and Bloody Marys. We got the Sangria and totally worth it. I may just come in Sundays for that reason. I did see the churro sundae pass by and thats my next thing to order. Bathrooms were clean and that is always a plus for me! Staff was great! The Star Cinema Grill in Springwoods is my favorite dine-in movie theater! If you are familiar with the Studio Movie Grill, this is like the updated version of that. I think what stuck out to me was the interior design. The gold fixtures, velvet blue loveseats, and full bar captures your eye as soon as you walk in. It's like the entrance is meant to calm guests before walking into the movie. The food menu includes a lot of great items like the pretzel, chicken tenders, or street fighter tacos. I always order my food during previews so it comes out during the beginning of the movie, but you can order anytime throughout the movie. Keep in mind that since this is "dine-in" the servers will need to talk to you during the movie. I also will add that depending on how busy it is, your food will either come out really fast or slow. But, do not that stop you from having a great experience. read more

This is my favorite movie theater because I prefer to eat while watching a show. My go-tos are the pretzels with cheese and the nachos with chicken added. My husband has also had the quesadilla and also burger and he's enjoyed them. The popcorn is a a good size for $7 and I also had a milkshake once and it was the perfect balance of ice cream and milk. The servers are nice - best to get to the show and order during previews so that you can eat your meal at the start of the show. The seats are roomy and comfortable - they are electronically operated so you can recline. If you just want to go to the movies, check them out on Tuesday - it's only $7 all day for the shows which is nice. read more

This theatre is beautiful but service needs a lot of work. It took me going down there after 30 minutes to get my own drink order and when speaking to staff and manager, response is...we're understaffed. No apology or willingness to fix the issue. Food came out incorrect and still never got our drinks brought to us. When I went back in with my drinks the food was sitting and was cold. I would rate a 0!!! I will always go back where there's good service especially when food is expected. Oh & let's not forget they automatically charge 18% gratuity on orders, we definitely would give more if the service would have been decent but I guess since they automatically get 18% they have no incentive to work for more. Let me just say this...you never know where your next opportunity will come from and this is a huge reflection on the manager that was on duty tonight! read more

My husband and I visited this establishment today to view Fantastic 4 4:30 showing. We waited more than 10 minutes for our first round of drinks to arrive. Though this is not great in our minds, it is typical for this location. The last three visits we have had fall off whenever anything is ordered after the initial order. My husband ordered a pizza once the movie started when viewing the accounted part two.It was never brought (we were not charged). Ranch was never brought nor a drink refill during John Wick Ballerina. The churro desert and a water was added during Superman. The dessert arrive with about 10 minutes left on the movie and the water was never brought. Today I had to walk up to the bar and ask if it was possible for me to get my own refills after waiting about 20 minutes. What is troubling is that the waitress came rather quickly each time the button was pressed. I pressed my button well after my husband had requested a refill and when she arrived to tend to me she was surprised he had not received his refill. She took my cup that had about a quarter left of Coke and stated she would return with both refills. She never returned and I got up myself after waiting about 20 minutes. The biggest issue I have with all of this is that we purchase the pod seats every time we attend this theater. We purchase on line and pay extra for the convenience along with service fees. Now to my surprise I was charged an 18% gratuity! This is simply unacceptable. I was so upset I asked to speak with the manager. A man came to the front and heard us out but only said "huh, that's funny we never get this complaint." When I went further into telling him all of this he simply ignored me while removing the gratuity from my bill. Then handed us the receipt to sign without another word. We had to ask for a working pen and when we were done signing he thanked us for coming with no other acknowledgment or apology. read more

This was my first time going to a dinner and movie type of theater so please take my review lightly. I did not like the concept of someone standing in front of me and talking to me during the movie! Our sever was talking so loud into his mic while the movie was playing! I feel like it would be more enjoyable if you could order from your phone. The ambience of the place however, was very nice. My husband's food came out first. 25 min later I spoke to another server to check to see why my sons food, my food, and our appetizer was taking so long. Shortly after our food came out... don't know if the ticket was lost or what happened. Then the decide server tells me the only thing the Mgr could do was give me free tickets for our next visit. This was one of the best movie theaters I've been to. I was extremely pleased with the food service, it was quick and really good food. We unfortunately had a horrible experience with the people sitting next to us with their two kids sitting in their lap. I really wish an employee had intervened because almost the whole movie they were screaming, crying, running around, hitting other people in their seats, standing in front of the screen blocking the movie for us and others, on the phone playing games and videos, kicking and spilling things on me. No apologies or anything, no intervention by employees. It was super frustrating- I understand parenting is hard but maybe skip date night at a movie theater watching a 3 hour movie that can be scary or loud for a 3 & 5 year old. I'm sympathetic because the hus did nothing to help his wife but come on y'all ‍ maybe Star cinema can consider an employee monitoring the environment of the theater so everyone is pleased with their experience bc we pay $50 for a good experience read more

This place is so rude. I have been coming here for years and my son always sits in my lap. Never his own seat. I've bought him a seat and it's been wasted so I stopped and never had an issue since he's in my lap and today the slowest nights on a Monday the manager and girl at front was admit I had to pay for a separate seat for my son age 4 who sits on my lap I already paid $50 for 2 private seats say I need to pay for an extra seat for him. Even though he's not sitting in it. Completely rude and unprofessional. I will never come back to this location. I've never had an issue here before or any other location. Way to take your job too seriously when I always take care of staff and come on the slowest nights. Will no longer come here. I came here for a private movie screening. It was my second time in City Place plaza but my first time at Star Cinema. There is ample parking in a lot and the building is hard to miss. It's very pretty at night and very well lit. The service was pretty friendly both at the bar and in the theatre although it took a while to figure out how to order. You have to hit a call light to get service. The wings were Ahhhhmazing. We got honey sriracha lime sauce and it was the perfect flavor combo. Yesterday, my husband and I visited this theater to watch a movie and decided to order a Topo Chico and a double Old Fashioned. We were charged $38, which seemed excessive--especially considering the drink did not even fill a quarter of the glass, and the ice did not come close to reaching the liquid. (Photo attached for reference.) When we brought our concerns to the manager on duty, Nate, we were shocked by his response. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, he abruptly took the drink from my husband's hand and stated, "You don't have to drink it if you don't want to." His tone was dismissive and lacked any sense of customer care or professionalism. We have never been treated this way at an establishment before. Due to the poor service and lack of courtesy, we chose to leave and continued our evening at Regal instead. Overall, this place feels clean and had pretty good food especially for a movie theater! The entryway area is very nice - it has a chill seating and bar area. The theaters themselves feel clean too. Great layback seats. We ordered the trio app plate that had fried pickles, cheese sticks, and chicken strips. They all came with their own according sauce. Chicken strips were the best out of these! We also got fries. Not my fav fry but does the trick! Upon first glance of the outside facade, it appears a bit non-descriptive while the colors blend into the surrounding buildings, but upon entering, your eyes follow the side walls which inevitably focuses your attention towards the middle to the ticketing usher then further overhead towards the LED meteor shower that greets bar patrons. Once you pass the ticketing usher, before you arrive at the dining seating area turn around and you will notice the niches in the walls and each has their own self service kiosk for purchasing tickets. The inside decor seems like a nouveau interpretation of Art Deco. For the theatre seating experience, the chairs are comfy with two-way recline with a small table in between for your dining pleasure. If you require service it is just a push button away. The tables have a small nook underneath to store your napkins and phone if necessary, but do not forgot your items. Almost happened to me, but I placed a napkin close to my phone to remind me after the show. I noticed that some of the theaters have a small private viewing section so I am wondering is that for group parties of certain films?? Now..the experience can be a bit pricey but if you factor in the area, the service, the details to create the ambience it is well worth it. Hats off to the design team interplaying the STAR theme with the LED Meteor Shower lights, the Stars (Actors/Actresses) on the wall, the lights mimicking stars in the sky against the carpets appearing as if you are walking on clouds. Great movie experience. Very beautiful interior and attentive servers. It is pricier than other theatres but an elevated experience. We paid $8 each on a Tuesday. Our icee was $8 and our large popcorn was $9.50. The size of the both were lacking. We always order a large at any theatre and never finish it yet we polished this off easily. Size of popcorn was more like a small to medium. Auto gratuity on all checks and you pay it at the time you order it (sitting right at your seat) so if you don't want to be paying multiple times throughout your movie, order and pay all at once when you sit down. read more

I've been here a few times and it's always a good experience. The tickets are usually around $15 but they do a special discount rate on Tuesday's! The seats are comfy and it's cool how they bring the food right to you. The food is usually ok. I only get the fries or popcorn, and both are decent but still a little expensive and not phenomenal. We enjoyed the full-service aspect to this theater, but it has its pros & cons. The Good: -The venue is beautiful. The entry hall and bar area have an upscale vintage vibe, and the auditoriums are spacious with very comfy luxury reclining seats. -Speaking of the bar, there is an array of drinks available, including specialty cocktails. Sit under the chandelier and sip one before the show starts, or hit the service button at your seat and order a round during the movie. -Premium pods offer a posh upgrade. A small privacy wall divides each pair of seats, which is great for social distancing and is an especially cozy option for couples. Tickets purchased with this option also include blanket service & complimentary popcorn. -We tried several items on the menu, and each one was surprisingly well-made & tasty. Better than expected... Worth mentioning was the strawberry cheesecake. Quality stuff! The Bad: -Servers frequently walking in front of the seats are a constant obstruction to the view, and audible order-taking all around us was very distracting while the movie is playing... You risk missing a vital part of the movie, if you're in the middle of a conversation (or overhearing one). Silence is NOT golden here. -Service was not always immediate nor reliable. Some food items seemed to take (way) longer than others to prepare/deliver, but many times it felt as if there was a lack of care & attention from the waitstaff... Our chicken tenders were brought to us halfway into film, and we only managed to get a single refill on drinks & popcorn. -Parking was a nuisance. IMO there are not nearly enough spots to accommodate the many other businesses in the plaza & customers/visitors. You'll very likely end up in the garage, which is a bit of a walk to/from the theater. -Expect to pay higher than average prices for the food & drinks. The final bill (tickets, modest food & drink, plus tip) for two people on a Friday evening was around $120. So, weigh your options & plan accordingly, if you're planning a night out (and hungry)! I still prefer traditional movie theaters over this style, but it was a refreshing change from the norm. And, when trying to fit everything in on a busy schedule, the dinner-and-a-movie package was convenient. I'm sure we will be back in the near future, if we plan a jam-packed itinerary. read more
