Stopped in for a frozen blended coffee drink. We asked if this particular drink tasted very sweet,…read morethe young lady that waited on us said it was barely sweet. We wanted less sweet because it would be less carbs. She missed it by a mile. Both drinks were sickeningly sweet, poured them out as soon as we got home.

Came back for a second visit and they've built a wooden deck with ramp (wheelchair friendly!) that…read moreis covered! Yay! They also have a picnic table that is uncovered but at least 2 of them have shade. Do be careful and keep watch. The place had flies everywhere enjoying the spilled sugar from previous customers... on the table, bench, and floors. Surprised there weren't bees as well. I brushed an arm on the underside of the table and it came back with blue droplets (I'm guessing from blue raspberry ice)? While there, I saw one employee come out to wipe but I'm assuming they don't do it very often. They also don't wipe the tables that are already occupied. We went on a Saturday night with family and customers were coming in at regular intervals with an average of 2 parties at a time. The flavors don't seem to have changed much in that time. I don't know how often they're rotated but it was pretty similar to my first visit. Still waiting for chocolate ice to make it on there! But I was glad root beer was still there. I got the 5-layer Gelati (forgot to get the blender.... Next time!) of root beer and vanilla custard. It was overwhelmingly vanilla? The bottom root beer section was rather thin and the top one was only moderately more. Not even layers at all! But I did like it when I got equal amounts in my spoon so at least I know it would be perfect if the proportions looked like the promotional picture. The custard wasn't too sweet which is nice, but I wanted more root beer flavor. My youngest with food allergies still isn't fond of his options here. He wants the custard but it includes eggs, sadly. We got him the koolaid ice and... he made faces. It definitely isn't the original koolaid flavor I remember! It seemed slightly tart but very artificial tasting... as is normal with koolaid, haha. As a dark chocolate ice cream/gelato fan, he just wanted his chocolate. I'm hoping we'll one day be able to have him try the chocolate ice and he might like that one. Something to note: the lemon flavor does have lemon peels in it! My sister liked it. I ordered vanilla (but meant vanilla ice) with whipped cream for my eldest kid and they gave me a cup of the custard with whipped cream on top. We took it anyway. My kid mostly liked it! Yay. She thought it was all whipped cream and was taken off guard when she got to the custard part. My brother in law got another ice in a medium cup. I don't think he specified the size and he got the medium cup. It's a little over $7. He feels like it's a bit much for flavored ice. Haha. He's used to absolutely loaded shaved ice from Asian dessert shops and he's looking at his cup of ice that costs the same as a lunch combo meal. He did finish it all though! Basically, his opinion didn't change from our last visit. As for the staff, they're not the friendliest or helpful. Opened up the window with a resigned air, no real greeting or smile. I double checked with her on things and she seemed to zone out and then nod/agree to everything I asked? I ended up just ordering because it seemed like she was impatiently waiting for me to order and she didn't seem to care about anything other than that. There is a restroom inside but it's not open to the public. I saw a dad take his kid into the BBQ place next door to use their restroom. I'd rate them a 3.5 but because I still remember the negative-leaning feelings I had from [the lack of] service, I rounded down to a 3. Oh. And my disproportionate 5-layer gelati to a tiny degree. If you don't have any questions, then you'd probably have a better impression, I would think? Overall, a decent place for a cool and sweet treat as Houston preheats... but don't expect good service. Or maybe I'm just unlucky.

Made resy ahead of time and was able to get seated right away…read more Danny was super knowledge and friendly, and provided a wonderful 1st time dining experience! Zach the chef was also very knowledgeable as well and presented each dish beautifully. Started off with the "Alive" cocktail which was a tequila based drink. Pretty strong and refreshing citrus taste! Ordered the the 4 Temaki set which included Hotate, Salmon, Negitoro and Crab. My favorite was deff the crab handroll, had a yummy buttery taste. Extra handrolls we got the Steak & Eggs handrolll (taste just how it sounds and the steak was nice/tender) and an extra Crab Handroll. Also, got 2 diff Donburi's which is the Negitoro Donburi and Bluefin Tuna Donburi (SOOOO worth it, it had Akamai/Chutoro/Otoro and all melted in your mouth and was fresh and paired great with the sauce it came with). The rice overall, was seasoned and cooked great as well. To add on the side, we got their chilli crunch which was a nice topper for our hand rolls. To end the night, we got the Raspberry Kakigori (super soft ice and refreshing). Pretty close to Japan! Seating was a very chill vibe with vinyl players and good music. Parking - Garage and super close walk to the restaurant to the left Overall, good first time experience! PS if you have a AMEX plat, you can get your credit via Resy!

I ordered the three hand roll set with a maguro hand roll add on. If I had to rank them, it would be: 1. Hotate:The lemon zest pairs incredibly well with the scallop. 2. Salmon: Super creamy thanks to the sauce. 3. Maguro: Also creamy from the avocado. I personally do not prefer avocado in my hand rolls, but it was still good. 4. Negitoro: A little fishy and more plain compared to the others. Overall, the hand rolls were very generous with both rice and fish. I was a bit surprised by the side of pickles since I usually expect ginger and wasabi, but the pickles were a game changer. The hand rolls did not need soy sauce because they were already full of flavor. The service was attentive, and they even offer warm towels at the beginning. Overall, this is definitely a place I will be coming back to regularly.

In the past, I never understood the Jollibee hype. Being a Filipina, I know that's unusual... But,…read moreI do appreciate it much more as of late. It's been YEARS since I've visited a Jollibee, and it seems both the individual locations and the brand as a whole have made a lot of upgrades and changes for the better! The kiosk ordering system is a nice convenience, and (specific to the Houston restaurant) the establishment has been renovated for a more modern & minimalist look. Also worth mentioning: The restaurant was clean, and the crew was organized and efficient. Go, H-Town! Now, the food: I don't dislike the spaghetti, but it's still not my cup of tea... I still can't wrap my head or my tastebuds around the sweet & sugary sauce, and the addition of fatty hot dogs just don't do it for me. The adobo rice is overrated, in my option... a lot of garlic and salt, but missing the essence of adobo. I'll also pass on the biscuit next time (dry and didn't have much going on). However, I totally get why the fried chicken has become so viral! Super crispy, but not greasy. Great flavor & seasoning without being obnoxiously salty (think Popeye's cousin who went to college). And, thanks to TikTok, I enjoyed a chicken skin taco (skin stuffed with rice and drown it in brown gravy). Yummmmm! ChickenJoy is definitely where it's at.

Bucket of chicken, white rice, gravy - I am satisfied. Crispy, hot, fresh. Spicy is better than regular. Dip that chicken in the gravy ... soo good! Now Service - it's a fast food joint, don't expect much. Ambiance - while the restaurant is clean, we ran into a situation where there was someone (who definitely wasn't a customer) who kept asking patrons for food/money. There was nothing the employees could do, they said. 5* for food. Ding two stars for ambiance unfortunately.

For drinks, I got the Mekhong Mojito and it was sweet and refreshing! For appetizers, we got the crispy squid and the crispy wonton- crispy squid was good but if you had to choose between the two, get the crispy wonton! As for the entree, I ordered the Khao Soi with shrimp and my friend ordered the spicy red snapper. The curry broth with coconut milk was fragrant and with the toppings that came on the side (i.e. lime, onions/shallots, mustard greens, etc) enhanced the dish. The flat egg noodles were bouncy and the shrimp was solid. If you're stuck between choosing a curry dish and a noodle dish, get the best of both worlds and order the Khao Soi! As for my friend's spicy red snapper, I tried a bite and the spices/texture in the dish complimented the fish very well. For dessert, we ordered the classic Mango Sticky Rice! The mango was soft/sweet, the rice and sauce had that salty coconutty flavor. Aside from the delicious food, the interior is cozy and the waiters here were friendly and gave great advice on what to order. They have that street food vibe as a well representation of their name, Rim Tanon, which means roadside. With dedicated parking that fills up quick during peak times, it may be difficult to locate parking as it is shared with a few other restaurants and the spaces are quite tight. We tried their appetizers including Salmon Rolls (flavorfully packed with cream cheese, salmon, and spinach in a crispy shell and loving that actually spicy mayo on the side), Thai Style Jerky (deep fried and sun dried marinated pork and beef served with sticky rice rolls and side spicy tamarind sauce, a bit too dry/chewy), Fried Tofu (perfect little triangles, so good by itself or with the side sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts), Chive Pancake (deep fried and chive packed triangles with a slight chew to it, great by itself or with it's spicy soy sauce companion). As for the mains, the Spicy Seafood Fried Rice is a good value as it was loaded with all sort of fruits of the sea (shrimp, squid, and mussel), with prominent lemongrass and kaffir lime aroma, but a bit wet or moist for a fried rice dish, the Crabmeat Omelet is served with a nice portion of lump crabmeat where you can taste the flavor of the seafood and add sriracha to liking, and the Beef Pad See Ew is made appetizing with wok charred flat rice noodles along with a savory blend of soy sauce, Chinese broccoli and egg. The portion size is alright and filling for a moderately hungry individual, though it would've been even better a tad bigger for those coming in hangry. I'll be back for more when I'm craving some modern Thai food and especially want to try their curry dishes. Service was quick and efficient, attentive to refills on drinks and friendly!
