Incredible experience! Fareed is the most detailed orientated and helpful person ever. I came in to get my windshield fixed and he helped coordinate a rental car for me and touched up so many things at no charge! He cleaned up the interior and polished up the outside because that's the type of person he is. Unbelievable customer service, he is extremely efficient, very quality work. STAY AWAY!! HORRIBLE!! - came for a new windshield after calling in for an agreed upon price came in and the price was higher and had t tell him I called and he finally agreed to give me the lower price. He installed the windshield but didn't tell me he fucked up the front end of my headliner. I was leaving and i looked up and saw he tried to GLUE IT back together! I called and confronted him on it and he lied and said it was already like that which I know was a complete and utter bullshit lie. As I was calling a piece of molding from the outside of the car blew off on the highway so now that's gone! Told him this too and his answer was to bring a new molding piece or that he could put some more glue in place of it. Also noticed a weird noise from the top right corner of the glass now, also he said the glass was high quality made in the usa glass but that was also a complete lie. TERRIBLE UNPROFESSIONAL PRACTICES. Now I'm having to dispute the charge and getting the windshield redone and going to pursue legal action because btw a new headliner from the dealer is $700!!! Please STAY AWAY from this place. They are a scamming no good company that will not honor what they say over the phone. The TLDR version of my review: I was promised a different brand tint and they installed the cheap brand. It took 6hours to finish the tint job and they only gave me a 1 year warranty. Full length review: I was shopping around for auto tint and Fred had the cheapest price around and were available right away. I was quoted $180 for the entire car which is the front and rear windows on my new dodge dart 2014 sxt sedan. When I arrived to the shop he said that it really costs $280 for his Suntek branded tint. He then goes on to tell me that the other tint he has available is $150 total but it will bubble and fade and purple in less than a year. When I was about to leave because the price was ridiculous for tint, he caved in and said he'll install the SunTek tint for me for $180 with 35% in the front and 5% in the back. He said he'll call me when the tint is ready in about 4 hours. 5 hours passed by and he didn't call me so I had to call him. He answered saying the car was ready without even apologizing that he didn't call me back when he finished. When I arrived, I noticed right away that the front tint was 50% visibility which means it looks like there is NO TINT at all in the front and I specifically said I wanted 35% visibility. He argued with me that this is what I asked for and after I threatened to call the police was when he finally responded to fixing his mistake. Note that the cheap no brand tint only comes in both 5% and 50% tint which is what is installed on my car. He goes on to tell me that he'll finish working on all the other cars in the garage until he is ready to work on mine which will take another 3 hours. At this point I was done with Fred's shenanigans and argued that I was here at 9:30 and my car should be done first before all these other customers. In the end I waited and watched them install the tint IN THE SUN. They didn't even pull the garage cars out to install my tint. I am sure they installed the exact same tint all over again and switched the box to to Suntek while I wasn't paying attention because the tint didn't get any darker. I was done wasting half of my day here so when he told me there was no warranty and refused to give me the Suntek warranty registration card because "We only have 1 piece of paper and it's only a sample". Please please please STAY AWAY FROM FRED and Star Auto Glass. Do not give them the business they do not deserve with their scamming ways. All these random 5 star ratings must be his friends and family who have yelp accounts. read more

I came here after going to 4 places in Oakland to find someone to repair my passenger side window. They ordered the glass and had it installed within the hour. I feel maybe the labor work for the window was a bit high ($60 for glass, $140 for labor) so it was $207 total with tax. I have no idea how much things like this cost because I rarely get busted windows but I was estimated at $140 total at a shop in Oakland if I could wait until Monday. It was during a huge storm in the Bay and my passenger side was already flooded, I had to do what I had to do. I have to say the speediness and the friendliness would definitely have me coming back if need be. The owner's wife talked to me practically the whole time and had no problem sharing some stories about her life and kids. I'm a little taken aback from all of these negative reviews. My review is based on my one-time visit and the circumstances surrounding my visit. I came across this business while searching nearby auto-glass repair shops after a horrendous morning. My car was broken into, and the scumbag burglar nearly ripped out my dashboard and stole my stereo and iPod. This happened in Oakland and my day was completely botched.The imbecile shattered my passenger side window, and ruined my wiring system, so none of my signals worked. I called this place and he gave me a really reasonable rate, so I gave it a go. He asked what happened to my window over the phone and when I told him, he sounded pretty sympathetic and he told me to come on by. As crabby as my mood was, I had to get it fixed right away. As I entered, I was greeted with a smile and an upbeat welcoming. I was shocked since I was expecting a dry entrance, as I experienced with a lot of auto repair shops. I think he was the owner, Fred, and he made me feel at ease after my mishap. During my wait, I went to the pho shop next door and another shop to kill time. The only thing that I didn't expect was him adding on the "broken brackets" and charging my an additional $20 to my initial quote. It was OK though, since I was just glad that my window was being replaced. I had hanging fabric on my door panel, which he even sealed for me. One thing that made my visit even humorous was that he tried to sell me used stereos to replace my broken one, but I think he was just trying to be helpful. After I paid for my invoice, he asked me to write a "good Yelp review," which led me to this. Today, I reached out to Star Auto Glass to replace my working van's front windshield. The transaction was unprofessional. During the transaction, I requested to pay by card but the owner repeatedly requested me to pay the amount in cash as he did not want to pay the extra 8% service fee on a card transaction. He emphasized there is an ATM machine across the street and told me that I should get cash out of my card to pay. He was persistent in his unprofessional persuasion and attempt in forcing me to pay in cash. To say the least, the owner did a terrible job. The technician replaced the windshield and placed tape on top of the molding area to let dry. He told me to take the tape off after 3 hours of drying. After 3 hours and out of the shop, I was confused to find the molding was not replaced with a new. The windshield was poorly patched together with the old molding. The owner did not consult with me that the molding also needed to be replaced. If he had told me, I would have been willing to pay the extra cost. My car window was smashed in and I brought my car here to get the passenger window replaced. Fred helped with the service and installation. My appointment was for 9:30 am but I showed up a litter early and he was happy to take me in early. The whole process was about 45 minutes so pretty quick in my eyes. We did agree on a price before but he let me know that there were brackets in the window that needed to be replaced. He said he could just glue them but it may not work as well. I decided to just go with a newer set which. He was going to charge me for both pieces but only charged me for one. All in all I did not pay that much for the replacement. In total I paid about $190 which was the cheapest I quote I received. He was very friendly and very helpful! Gave me tips on what I should say to my insurance. Nice guy! The owner is a psychopath. End of story. Brought my new car here with my friend and was quoted $280 to get all of my windows tinted. We said we'd think about it and left. We went to a place down the street and they quoted us $200. The owner calls a couple hours later and asks where we are... we say we found another place could do it for $200 so we were going to take it there. He said he would do it for $180. We take the car back and he says that they close in an hour and a half, so to come back then. While we are driving back to pick up the car, he calls and says the car is ready so to come pick it up. When we arrive, he takes us into the garage and says that, because the sun is going down, they couldn't do the front windows. So, they only did the back windows and rear windshield. Odd. This was on a Saturday. He says to bring it back on Monday and he will do the rest of the windows -- but I was visiting so I told him I wouldn't be there on Monday. My friend offers him $100 for the work he did, at which point he starts yelling "NO, NO, NO" at us, and saying that the back windows are $140. My friend said that $120 seemed fair, given that theres no way I could get the front windows done for $40. The owner proceeded to throw the money at us, yelling "You wanna steal from me? Just take it for free! Just go!" My friend got in the car and started to pull out of the garage. As this is happening, the owner runs over to the garage door and starts to close it on my car. My friend clears the door and the owner runs out and starts banging on the hood of the car. My friend throws $120 out the window and speeds off. I run to my car and get in and lock the door. The owner runs over and starts trying to open the door. Luckily I was able to drive away without being hurt -- but, one of the scariest experiences of my life! read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I normally do not leave reviews, but this business left such a bad taste in my mouth that I feel the need to leave one. I went in Friday afternoon to have my windshield replaced. When it was done, they drove my car to the side door to showcase what they had done. I saw a big gap on top of the windshield, but since I was in a hurry, I figured that I'll take care of it later. The next day, my dad, who is a mechanic in USPS, decided to pour water on my windshield since we were concerned about the gap. And yup, you guessed it! There's a leak from the top portion of the windshield. We drove my car back to the shop and after an HOUR of trying to convince them to fix my car, they finally gave in. SUCH A PAIN. They took roughly 2.5 hrs this time to adjust my windshield. Given that they had more time this time to correct their mistake, you would assume that they'd get it right the second time. BIG MISTAKE. It is now leaking from the TOP portion of my windshield, as well as the SIDE walls. What a waste of time and money. read more

I should have known when I arrived that a customer was leaving disgruntled because of the work being done. I thought nothing of it. They were getting windows tinted. I was having my windshield replaced. The work took an hr or so. Upon driving the next day. I could hear air coming through. I brought it back. He said it was because it was windy outside, and what I was hearing was the tape on the window. He removed the tape. He said its the rubber around your door that is bad.The sound continued. I took it to a shop on Dollar who pointed out the gap between the window and the rubber. Around the windshield you could see it from the passenger side of the vehicle. I took it back to this guy, he says nothing is wrong, I showed him the gap between the rubber. You could pass a business card all the way through. He said will fix it. It just needs more glue. The other shop said it needs to be replaced and re seated. I told him it needs to redone all over. He said bring it in I will redue it. If you would have done it correctly the first time there wouldn't be any issues. I will eat this one, and take it to another shop. Beware your windshield is important and if done incorrectly a minor accident could cause major injuries. I cant give less than a star or I would. read more

This place is awesome the quote Fred gave me for a new window (the factory window) was $100 or so cheaper than his competitors and he had my window replaced in less than thirty minutes. He is a total sweetheart and was very patient with me as I it took me a few weeks longer than I had anticipated to come in to get my window replaced. I highly recommend this place for those looking to get quality window repair at a budget friendly price. I will definitely come here again should I need another window replaced. My Audi's back quarter window got broken into in San Francisco and needed a replacement. Called several shops in SF and the Peninsula for quotes as I live in SF. All were $280 or more!!! I work in Hayward so I yelped several shops in the east bay. By far, this was the cheapest and best customer service, over the phone. Fred was very helpful and even offered to have me bring my car in so they could vacuum the cracked glass and place a temporary cover while we wait for the new window in order, which took about a day. Once the window came in the following day, Fred called me to bring in my car so they could replace it. I was greeted professionally by everyone in the store and it only took less than 15 minutes for them to replace the window. What a service!
