I wish I could give a zero. I've been a Staples customer for 30 years, and fpr 15 at this location. Never had problems in all these years until today when a clerk whose name starts with C was rude and took another customer in front of me on a return. No respect for my time or that I had been waiting. I was actually going to buy some things today but I changed my mind after that lack of customer service. This isn't my favorite place to be but I guess no one likes to go to Staples ever. I do like that this location is very central and has all the essentials, but gosh the prices are insane in here. The Copy section is lukewarm in customer service as they should really have someone stationed behind and in front of the counter for self-service because their machines are very weak. When I went, there were only 3 machines of the 5 working. It's worthy to note that if you have, say a book manuscript, to print, it's gonna take like a half hour to print between the machine trying to process the document and actually spitting it out. I am grateful for the selection of basic office supplies but it's definitely an emergency situation when you can't order your stuff in bulk elsewhere. Overall, happy this exists in center city but honest to goodness would not come here as my first choice. read more

I'm reviewing the copy and print center, specifically the folks who helped me with a couple of projects that I needed within a week or two. John in particular went above and beyond to make sure my print job was perfect, even contacting me with updates and pricing things out in advance. He put in a lot of effort and was wonderful to work with. Turiek was also stellar, when their poster machine went down he helped me to troubleshoot to find the best options for my time sensitive print project. These two employees along with Demika and Ayana were really friendly, helpful, and saved me a lot of headaches and a bit of money too! Overall in the print center I got excellent customer service and would come here again with any project. read more

Every time I've walked into this Staples with a specific need, someone has been able to point me in the right direction. This is especially impressive when it's early and I'm only able to communicate with nonsensical words and hand gestures because I can't remember the name of "label machine" The print center is great at fulfilling online orders by the designated time and I've never had something printed incorrectly. read more

A very large Staples compared to others (maybe it's just because you have to go up three levels of stairs). They have all the same products as other Staples. I think service could be better. I was told by the front door person to go to the 3rd floor for what I needed and ask for help, but no one was there. The register people seem to only want to carry on with each other and ignore the customers. I only have to come here maybe 1-2 times a year, but there is nothing extraordinary about this Staples to make it a regular place to come to. Come in, find it yourself, and get out. read more

For being located directly in the city and surrounded by many businesses, the wait time at this Staples location is never a long time. I attempted an online order on the Staples website but was not able to get the online program to work. I went into the store and they employees were able to help me immediately. I just had the worst experience with this center city store. I dropped a few hundred pages to get bound on Friday early afternoon and paid for it to be ready by Saturday at 3pm. Not only was it not ready by 3pm on Saturday but they hadn't even started my order until I called Sunday morning and urged them to do it because I needed to take the books with me on my flight that evening. Upon arriving to the store they were still not done and I had to wait 30 min. I only got a 5% discount which didn't even cover the taxes on it. Upon arriving home and packing my books I realized that one book was bound with the pages backwards. I rushed back to to store and had to wait another 30 min for them to fix their mistake. Not to mention the repeat pages came out very dark. On top of that, I had a classmate who had the same service performed and paid half the price plus his books were bound with better quality spirals which were not even offered to me at this store. I am very disappointed and almost missed my flight because of it. I will never return to this store. read more

They're so worried about getting sued they won't take spines off of a book to make into a spiral bound. Maybe if they spent an extra minute to ensure they take it off properly without ruining the textbook, they could provide adequate services. I'm done with this store. read more

After the cashier rung up my order today, she said, "Whoops... there is a coupon you can use." She then gave me a refund and re-rung the order with the coupon. Three minutes and some frantic button pushing later, my bill was reduced by $3. Talk about proactive! There isn't usually much to say about an office supply store, so I'll leave it at that. They have everything you would expect an office supply store to have. read more

This office supplies store and copy center has bargains every day. Despite its abundance of variety, it's two-floor layout is sufficiently organized for my various office supply needs.There is even an elevator! I like coming in here because the employees are so helpful. The gift card rack is one of the better ones around, and the copy center offers an online or self service option that are both expedient and a great value. If you venture into Staples you won't get overcharged for electronics, and you can benefit from an even deeper discount on bigger memory and better cameras. Back in the day, staples was all about the office supplies. "Yeah, we've got that..." and so forth. What I love about my neighborhood Staples is that it's basically a glorified As Seen on TV store. Cheap Keurig? Yeah, we've got that. Aqua Globes? Yeah, we've got that. Shake weights? Yeah, we've got that. If only the prices were a little better, they'd be up there with the dollar store on 19th for best treasure hunt in the city. read more

Like the downtown incarnation of most big-box type stores, this Staples is as good as it needs to be: not very. Fortunately my office needs are fairly minimal. I end up in this Staples once every few months to get random odds and ends like packing tape, ink cartridges and spiral bound notebooks. They manage to fill my needs, but I am never impressed by the selection. Unlike almost every other store I walk into - auto supply stores included - I never walk out with more than I went in for. If I was responsible for stocking an office, I can't imagine having to rely on this store. On the plus side, my interactions with the staff have all been pleasant. read more

I was clearly confused for a good minute, but luckily used my own brain power to deduce the location of my most needed item. Not a fan of this Staples whatsoever. I've only gone here for printing needs (for work) and they have messed up EVERY time. I thought that maybe the first time is was a lack of clear communication and I let it go. The second time I was very clear and wrote everything down in full detail and still everything was messed up. BEWARE: the EasyTech people here are horribly incompetent and flat-out LIED to me about the condition of my computer. Unbelievable. I went in in the middle of the afternoon on a Tuesday seeking tech help, and wandered around looking lost for a good 5 minutes, because there's no indication at all of where the EasyTech people are anchored. Not a single employee offered to help me, even though I was clearly looking for something. I finally stopped someone, and it was an EasyTech employee coming off his break who said he was "clocking back in and would help me right away." I went to the generic printing desk and waited for another 5 minutes while he did who-knows-what, and then he stared at my computer for a while. I finally convinced him to take it to run a diagnostics (outrageously priced at $70!!!), and he told me that there were "a few people" ahead of me, so they might not run the diagnostic until the next day, but I'd definitely hear from someone the next day (Wednesday). So, I didn't hear anything. I called on Friday. I was on hold for 25 minutes (which involved Staples hanging up on me once, putting me on "hold," but forgetting and subjecting me to a 5-minute conversation about the property a Staples employee wants to buy, and transferring me to nowhere several times). Finally, someone picked up and told me the EXACT same thing I had been told four days earlier: "there are a few people ahead of you, but it will be done tomorrow." So I called AGAIN on Saturday, only to find out that the EasyTech folks don't work on the weekends, and there wasn't any note in the file about whether the diagnostic had been run yet. "But I've called the tech, and I'll call you back in 5 minutes!" Yeah.... I got an email about 7 hours later confirming that the diagnostic had been done, but not what the results were. So, to sum up: after being told twice that a simple, overly expensive procedure would be done "tomorrow," when it was FINALLY accomplished TWO WEEKS later, they didn't even bother to let me know. I only found out because I kept calling and calling and calling. A word of advice, Staples: if your motto is, "Well THAT was easy!" -- make things easy! To make matters worse, then told me that my computer needs a new hard drive, but their own notes indicated otherwise. When I had another service check my computer, it turns out my hard drive is fine. These fools were going to charge me $200 to replace a hard drive that is FINE, because they were too incompetent (or too unethical?) to do their work right. read more

Two stories of all your office needs! I was sent on an errand for work to get some paper, ink, office stuff, blah blah, etc. I walked in and was greeted instantly by a woman asking if she could help me and I said, "where are your cardboard filing boxes?" She told me that they were upstairs. When I was up there I found another employee and basically went down my list with her and she walked me to every thing I needed. I went back downstairs to check out and the register lady was a hoot, she kept cracking jokes with the other register girls. It was such a nice vibe. I hate when I go into an establishment and everyone is just going through the motions and basically hate their jobs. We had such a great experience at the Center City Staples today - now granted it was about 10:45 AM on a Thursday and the places was dead empty - so that alone was a novelty. My little one and I peacefully shopped for scotch tape, markers, posterboard and other art supplies. the cashier we had (the only one on today - wish I knew her name) was funny and friendly and awesome. Moving is a chore made easier by reducing paper. This is a good place to go if you have a sizable amount of paper to shred and don't want to spend hours burning out your tiny home-sized shredder. I went in a hurry as my car was parked in the loading zone during rush hour. There was one other customer at the desk. The customer and the person working there could see I was in a hurry and carrying heavy bags. They both stopped what they were doing and let me make my transaction. The guy who worked there was efficient. I like that he let me physically put my papers into the locked bin so I didn't have to worry about confidential info sitting out on the counter. Thanks Staples dude and staples customer. I have been back a few times to buy office paper. The people at the counter were spacey and eager to leave as it was 10 min before closing. I have to say, if I worked in that depressing looking store all day long, I would want to get the hell out too. read more

I am DIY-ing a lot of stationery items right now and bought my printer ink and some paper from here. I got a really good deal on about 200 sheets of multipurpose printer paper for $8 (2 reams). Besides that, I find the staff here friendly and helpful. I almost left behind some important paperwork and the cashier was kind enough to immediately put it in her drawer until I could pick it up the next day. read more

I placed an order online with their Print Services for a poster to have it picked up the next day from this store, since the website clearly displays *Next Day Pickup*. When I went the next day, they told me to come back in the afternoon. So I ended up coming back 2 days later in the morning.... still not ready. I needed a quick turn-around and they could not provide. They did not send any email with a time to be picked up or anything. I was also told 2 different prices for the same size poster mounted when I went in to check before I ordered online. I will definitely keep this experience in mind for when I need another poster printed in the future. I would rather know it is going to take a few days to be done, then be told lies about the timing and having to come back multiple times to check in on it. read more

For being a rather high volume Staples, this place is quick! Every time I've been here, someone has helped me within a minute of walking into the store. I've been in and out of here in a jiffy! They even do speedy returns. Speedy everything! Also, they sell decent earbuds that run pretty cheap. My philosophy is...why bother paying an arm and a leg for something that will stop working in a couple months? read more

While walking around Center City at about 4:30 pm on a Sunday, I was talking to a friend and remembered that I really wanted to buy a Nutribullet blender (I've been wanting one for a while). So, I googled it on my phone and saw that Staples currently has an in-store deal for the Nutribullet at a discounted price! Staples closes at 5 pm on Sundays so I started walking over to 15th and Chestnut where it's located and arrived at about 4:45 pm... The door was still open which I was thrilled about (since one of my pet peeves is when stores lock their doors before the official closing time). I walked right in and one of the employees greeted me and asked me if I needed help finding anything. I asked about the Nutribullet and the employee led me to the area where they were located and answered all of my questions. I was super impressed by the customer service, especially this near to closing time! I was also offered a 2-year warranty on the Nutribullet while checking out for only $10 which I thought was worth the money. I probably walked out of the store at about 5 pm, so my entire experience in Staples was quick but easy and stress-free! I guess there's a reason why Staples' slogan is "That was easy." I gave 5/5 stars because the store was neat and organized, the customer service was excellent, and I had an overall great experience. Will be stopping by again if I need any office supplies in the future! read more

The employees are really friendly and helpful but they themselves are hard to find. Printing is a cheap if you have a staples reward card. Other than that nothing else to say. I strongly urge you to beware when buying from Staples-- particularly this one. When I went to buy a net book for a birthday gift, the only one they had in stock was an opened box-recertified computer. I have never bought this way before, but I asked numerous questions and was assured that Staples stood behind the product, that it could be returned if there were problems-- no questions asked! I bought this present as a gift for my husband-- and he was not able to use it the first week because of travel. Finally we got to fire it up and found out immediately that it was missing drivers to allow it to connect to wireless or broadband. I had to order an external drive and wait for it to be shipped, so I could load the drivers. Finally this arrived and after using it for only a few days, the computer would no longer boot up. Mind you, this is now about 17 days after purchase, because of the prior problems I had... and so in sheer frustration, I decided to return the computer. Staples would not accept the return. I had asked specific questions about the return policy and was told this would not be a problem... Literally, I now have a just-over 2 week old computer that does not work. At all. Staples had no interest in trying to help... and said the service policy I had purchased did not apply to this sort of problem because it was a software issue. They also flat out denied I had been told that it could be returned, choosing to stand by the sales reps word over mine. I have since spent hours on the phone with HP, who has been helpful, but I still do not have a working computer and am currently waiting for a disk to restore the system, that I had to PAY for... something I am sure that a Staples technician could easily do (especially considering I bought a 2-yr service contract!), but again, the store has been completely unwilling to support this purchase. I will not ever purchase from ANY Staples again, but certainly not this one. read more

I placed an order with their print services last night and was told that I'd be getting same day service. I placed my order well after the location had closed, so I figured that the prints would be ready the following day- today. There was no time or anything to let me know when though and the order status option online wasn't functioning properly, so I called the store directly thinking they'd be able to get me an answer. After about a half hour in total on hold, being hung up on twice, and waiting for a manager for 10 minutes, I walked from my office about 4 blocks away into the store directly. The order wasn't ready, so I requested an immediate cancellation and refund after standing at an empty counter while 3 employees spoke among themselves for about 5 minutes. A woman in glasses with red hair who appeared to be some sort of supervisor told me that the order would be ready at 6, to which I advised that that's all I'd wanted to know initially, but couldn't get out after being hung up on multiple times. She told me that they were "very busy" and other associates had been answering their phone. Not my problem. I don't care how busy you are, simple customer service is simple customer service. My order will allegedly be refunded in 3-5 days. What a joke. If you are unable to answer a simple question, who the world knows what my order itself would've looked like. Thankfully, I only work in the city and am able to access other options near my home. Save your time, energy, and money and go elsewhere. I can't believe this place is real life. Never again. Let the record stand, my anger isn't due to the fact that I needed to wait until 6 for my order to be ready. It's due to the fact that I had to call multiple times, be hung up on multiple times, and then physically go to the location to find this out. Update: Of course my refund wasn't actually processed. My bank has been notified. This place is scum. Patronize at your own risk. You have been warned. read more

We had to stop into this staples to print out something before a meeting after we noticed an error in the documents we had printed out at the office. The girl, Sarah, handling the self serve section did a wonderful job helping us- she was so calm, pleasant, and cheerful. She offered solutions that not only would be better for what we were needing to do but cheaper options. My colleagues and I commented on how she doesn't have an easy job, as we noticed the others around us who also were in need of jobs to be done. Come here for DIY printing! You email the document to staples@printme.com and it will send you an email with a bar code. Go to the store and use the kiosks to scan the code. Follow the instructions on the screen (debit and credit are accepted) and don't forget to change to document to black and white because it defaults on color copies. Resume paper is also available at the front desk. They have computers (paid by the minute, I believe) if you need to access the Internet to email your documents. It's fast and convenient for printing. read more
