Staple Foods on Grattan street is my number one favourite cafe in Dublin. It's only across the road from 3Fe and on a side street so it's kind of likea hidden gem! Despite the location, this place is extremely popular and gets very packed during lunch with all the people that work around here. Before 1pm or after the rush at around 1:30 pm isn't too packed, and they are open until 3pm on weekdays but closed on weekends/ bank holidays. They do both breakfast until 11am and lunch after that until 3pm. They do sometimes sell out of certain things later in the day though.
The lunch menu has a lot of new stuff since when they used to be in Temple bar, and now in addition to their usual healthy salads and wraps, there's hot dishes too like the quinoa bowl, pasta bowl, rice bowl, lentil and veg pot, veg stew etc. I love the baked falafel here as I don't think anywhere else do baked falafel, and it has a nice soft texture as opposed to the usual crunchy kind. Their superfood bowl is pretty good as well, plus the portions are big so it's good value and healthy at the same time. My mum had the jerk chicken which she said tasted great.
The staff are very friendly, the service is efficient in dealing with the long lunch queues, and the prices are very reasonable (around 8- 10 euro). Lunch is served in take away boxes, probably for efficiency, and they do deliveries as well. The coffee is fantastic; they cater for everyone with regular, soya, almond and coconut milk options and also serve matcha lattes.
Overall, bright and very chill with plenty of seats, healthy food, extensive menu that caters for all diets including vegan and paleo, great coffee and reasonable prices. It's a pity they are not open on weekends though. There is a Dublin bikes stand right outsite the cafe.
