Had problems getting my script correct. But finally got it right.

This was a while ago, last year i think, but im so frustrated STILL that I'm leaving this review. This business is terrible. My eye exam was not thorough, and the equipment was filthy. Someone else's eye goo was on the lens thing. They also got my prescription wrong multiple times. Every time they remade my glasses the script was wrong. For the last year i have tried to make these lenses work (mostly because the last time i went in everyone gave me nasty looks and was incredibly rude towards me) and i STILL can not wear them. The prescription is all wrong. Customer service tried to help by remaking and even upgrading my lenses. The fault is not with them, it is on the undertrained and rude staff. My deepest regret is that i didn't demand a refund in a reasonable time frame. Now I'm stuck with glasses i can not wear. My father recently had this exact same issue (which is what enraged me enough to write a review.) only he demanded a full refund and got one. I am so frustrated. read more

Nice employees, but no personalized service. They didn't take any time to check the frames fit me after machining them, one of my arm hinges was defective right away, and one my sunglasses lense wasn't even popped in all the way. I was just coming in a little early to sit and wait, not to rush you so that you give me a shitty product. And when I asked the customer service person about my hinge she said that it just needs a screw tightened, and showed me which one I could tighten myself. This was my first time ever getting glasses since I just found out about an astigmatism. I feel like they took advantage of my lack of knowledge. I'm disappointed in my choice to go to Stanton Optical in the first place. I won't go back there for any future eye care needs. After taking my clear pair back once when I picked up the sun glasses on day 2... I asked for an adjustment -the lady just turned a screw on the frame and sent me on my way. Update: The week after this experience I took my glasses to another local eyecare place (part of a medical clinic), and they showed me that my primary clear pair of glasses from Stanton actually have two different arms. One is a few centimeters or more longer than the other. The screw holding that long arm on is stripped, and the sunglasses were not tinted properly to the edge. read more

What here to get glasses. Had appointment at 5:30 realize that's late to get my glasses same day. Filled out all the paperwork information paid they told me to come back the next day to get my glasses. Now mind you I live 50 miles away, they knew that because I told him. Went back the next day about noon, they said my glasses were ready they won't be ready till 330 and really they had 24 hours after they turn in the prescription for my glasses. Didn't make a scene inside the store, but went outside and called the manager on duty. She was just downright rude. Every time I told part of the story, she would either say it was a misunderstanding, or miscommunication on my part. I told her several times that they did not tell me it would take 24 hours,she just kept talking over me. They need to review procedures to tell their customers. They need to practice proper phone customer service. read more

I went here for an eye exam and glasses because I have astigmatism and have worn glasses for years!! My glasses broke and my insurance does not cover for 2 years so I needed to get a new exam and glasses. So as I get done with the exam I get told there is nothing wrong with my eyes? I was told my eyes are just dry and to use some drops??? I say to him well I have worn glasses for this issue for 4 years. He told me eyes change all the time so they must of went away. So here I am knowing there is an issue with my eyes I have headaches all the time and very hard to drive at night. I went out upset and one of the ladies at the counter asked me what was wrong and I explain it to her, she was trying to help me out and called the other place that I had went to before. When she got there report she said that's not right there is no way your eyes changed that much. She then asked me if I wanted to have her re-do my exam HA absolutely not I don't want that guy even near me again he has no idea what he is doing!! She asked someone else about it and they said the same thing that something was wrong. I was told she was going to keep my exam and speak with one of the managers and the quack that did my exam and call me back. HMMM never a call back. So they took my $40 for a "free eye exam" and never called me back. I would never recommend this place!!!!!!!!! read more

Stear clear of this "bait and switch" operation. They will tell you anything on the phone, including that they accept your specific insurance plan and, their biggest come-on, you get a free eye exam. Nothing in this store is "free". Everything is overpriced, requires an up-front payment of some kind to ever get to the final cost of your eye exam and glasses. Their frames are among the cheapest knock-offs in the business. Their lens lab does a poor job on very lense causing ill-fitting glass-to-frame that constantly falls apart with the slightist of use. Find anywhere else for your eyecare needs. read more

My lens were off the first time. Upon being remade, they were value lenses when I paid for premium. They had to remake them a third time. Makes me feel like a bait and switch. BUT, they did remake them at no additional charge. Insist they be made correctly. Also, the pair before this, purchased at this location, the non-reflective coating went cloudy after a year and I could not see out of them. They stripped the coating off and now I can see again. They said they now use a better coating, but I refused any coating this time around. read more

Quite possibly one of the worst experiences I've ever had with an optometrist office, and I've been all over the city with my horrible eye sight looking for the best prices and service. When I was patiently waiting, I noticed that people who walked in after me went right up to a worker sitting at a desk and got help right away (the worker even looked up and made eye contact with me then ignored me). It was a long wait so I was there for almost a half hour watching people get helped before me. Why did I stay? I was stupid enough to buy a groupon. This is the only time groupon has ever burned me. It was a horrible experience and apparently with the groupon you pay full price for EVERYTHING. There's no deals or discounts, so while I thought, "great, I can find a pair of glasses for $250 (the price of my groupon) no problem!", it turns out that was not true. Eventually I did get help and find a pair, but after explaining multiple times that I was NOT paying anything extra, so don't even bother showing me. I wear my glasses for maybe an hour a day so it's just not worth spending a lot of money on. When my glasses were finally ready I went to pick them up and they just handed them to me and said "thanks". Nobody even asked me to sit down and adjust them. They constantly slide off my nose and they're way too big for my head but you're joking if you think I'm going back there. read more

I asked where the cheapest frames were and they pointed me to a empty rack. when I finally said that she needs to get up and assist me in finding a pair of frames, she got extremely rude with me. Dealing with this store will probably give you the worst costumer experience imaginable. Being in customer service environment my entire life I was astonished with unprofessionalism we encountered in this store. Staff seemed to be friendly and powerless to take care of the needs of customers due to senseless rules imposed by the management (which blamed everything on the corporate which seemed to be located in Never Land ), and by the way , in my humble opinion( 15 years of management experience ), totally incapable to take care of the issues . We learned our lesson dealing with them ($300 of worthless product); they will learn theirs unless they start taking care of their customers. read more

I also had huge problems with Stanton Optical. I wrote to the Better Business Bureau and got this resolved much faster than constantly calling Stanton about my eye glasses that kept coming back wrong or broken. Sounds like Stanton hasn't changed over the past year. Good luck to you. read more

I have not gotten glasses in a few years and was looking for a painless experience. I was attracted to the free eye exam and cheap frames, 2 pairs for $69. Having bought glasses before I knew I would be spending a lot more than $69 dollars and I did but it was still a great experience. The Doctor that did the eye exam was very friendly and helpful and so were all of the folks we talked to. Amanda was the person that worked with me every step of the way from helping my girlfriend and I pick out the frames to checking us out at the end. She was awesome! It was a great experience and I would recommend Stanton Optical to anyone. read more

I agree with all the other complaints about this business. If there was a less than zero rating, I would choose that! DO NOT GO HERE...ANYWHERE IS BETTER THAN STANTON OPTICAL!!!!! They have had 369 BBB complaints on file and the OH attorney generals office has an open lawsuit against them for their ridiculous business practices. Look them up! My husband purchased 3 pairs of glasses for a total of $750 and was specific in saying that he only wanted one pair as a bifocal. The "frame specialist" Cassie told him he was going to love the difference a bifocal would make since this was his first time wearing one and he really needed the driving and sunglasses in a bifocal also. My husband said more than once that he really didn't think it was necessary but she was insistent he would love them and indicated that if he didn't like them, we could return any or all of the glasses. Well, we waited and waited for the glasses that were supposed to take 1-2 weeks and after close to a month, my husband called and they had the wrong phone number and the glasses had been in for two weeks. He picked them up and tried for a week to wear the glasses and they just didn't work. Everything was fuzzy no matter where he looked in the lens and he felt nauseous the whole time he wore them but he tried to give them a chance. We went back to the store and they really didn't appear to want to do much other than explain that bifocals take some time to get used to and throw out medical verbiage at us that they couldn't really explain when we asked what they were talking about. When we were starting to get irritated and they were getting busy enough for other customers to hear that we were unhappy, the sales manager came out. She told us he really needed to be in a much better lens that was SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE. They were going to get a new pair of glasses made with the new lens at no charge since we had already spent so much and were not happy with all the up-selling that had gone on. We were so "valued" that they would be done in 1-2 days. She also said that if those didn't work, we could return our glasses. It's now been over a week and I can't even get the sales manager on the phone. I called the 800 customer service to complain and ask for a refund at this point and she said it was against their policy to give any refunds and unless Cassie put it in writing that she told us that, she could not override that policy. She said she tried calling the store for a resolution and they didn't even answer the phone. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. update: They did offer to refund 1/2 the money up front and all of it if the new pair of glasses don't work....We will see what happens when we go in tomorrow. Update: we took our glasses to the doctor's office who did the eye exams and they told us the prescription wasn't even close to correct. Not only was it wrong, it was differently wrong in each eye. Check out the details of the attorney generals lawsuit against them b/c incorrect prescriptions is one of the things listed. Stanton optical explained that everything was fuzzy and my husband had double vision because he needed viralux lens...nope...just needed a correct prescription!!!! The Manager said " I had my tech verify that this was the correct prescription" Well they need a new tech because the doctors office showed my husband that the number is actually etched into the lens and what was etched in the lens is the wrong number! Because we had proof that they script was wrong, they refunded the full amount. We feel very lucky to have gotten a refund b/c after reading the BBB complaints and the details of the lawsuit, it appears that we are in a small group of people. read more

First, I had my exam so I could get new contacts (prescription had recently"expired" and even though I had the same script for 7 years, I knew something was probably different as my vision wasn't as crisp as it used to be. Sure enough, needed new script. Paid for them and decided then to get glasses at their buy one get one free deal. Got LUCKY ENOUGH to get Amanda to help me with y glasses I have a SMALL face and found the first pair myself. Then after much searching, Amanda found a pair that will work as my second pair. Not as excited about those, but they will work. Got the scratch coat (I'm in my 40's and know little things like that go a long way) and chose to make the back up pair prescription sunglasses which was only $18 to add to it. So no big deal and it's nice for me to have a pair of sunglasses that I can wear when I don't want my contacts in. Yes, it cost a good amount when all was said and done, but I have my contacts (which they price matched my Air Optix Night and Day to the lowest cost I found, $44 a box at Costco) and a pair of VERY NICE and kinda pricey designer frames I chose and a nice back up pair that will be regular prescription sunglasses (I don't like transitions). So when you figure I won't need glasses for a couple years AND my contacts and my exam and all, I am happy. Amanda was SWEET, ATTENTIVE and POLITE and never ONCE did I feel forced into buying anything or upsold. If anything, I requested things that cost money that she wasn't pushing. I read other reviews and I guess it's just what you want and what you think is fair to pay. I look at the big picture and think I got a good value and excellent customer service. I had no wait but I had an appointment so maybe to those who waited, plan ahead if possible and schedule an appointment. All I know is if you get to deal with Amanda, you won't regret it. She's lovely. Glasses are due in on Monday barring any delays and my contacts should be there about the same time but they will call me when they are in. All works for me. Worst customer service ever! Please stop telling your coworkers about your sexcapades while I am in the store with my child and help me in purchasing a pair of glasses for him. I had to explain some things to my 9 year old after we left the store, thanks to inappropriate conversations happening among the employees. I asked once for assistance, and was told "be right with you" and she turned back to her coworker and continued talking about the guy she met last night at the bar. After trying to get her attention again, I gave up and left. That kind of conversation is not appropriate for the public, and definitely never while at work! Highly unprofessional, and unwilling to do their jobs. They lure you in with advertised cheap prices, but they aren't willing to sell you anything. read more

I called for an eye appt and the woman who answered didn't offer me any times I literally had to ask " do you have a 4pm on monday, what about 4:30...on monday" Then They took 2 walk ins before me so I left work 20 minutes early to get there and wasn't seen for 20 minutes past my appt. The prices are ridiculous. When I called to see if my glasses were in the girl refused to check for me so I called and she put me on hold until somone else picked up, when I got there I signed in behind 2 others and watched the people behind the TRANSPARENT glass wall goof off for 20minutes without helping anyone so I called them from the waiting area and asked for them to stop goofin off and do there damn job some people aren't getting paid to be here. I went to the Monroe St. location on 4/19/14 picked out glasses. I was told by Megan that they had by 1, get 1. After I had my 2 pair Megan stated that she could give me a better deal of 2 for $99 & they would be ready on 4/24. Went on 4/23 to pick up glasses and while trying them on I couldn't see out of either pair and was finally sent over to speak with Megan. She had no explanation as to why they were not no-line bifocals and why they looked as if 2 pairs of lenses for stuck together, horrible looking. She stated that she guaranteed my correct glasses would be ready on 4/28 along with a bunch of other freebies. Now the issues begin. I received a call from Tristen, the manager, about 15 minutes of leaving stating that there is no way on this earth that she could or would honor the 2 for $99 regardless of what mistake Megan had given and told me. We go back and forth over the phone and her final words were "I will give you 1 pair of no-line bifocals for $99 but not both, take it or leave it." I told here I refused her offer and that I was contacting the Corporate, BBB & OH Attorney General's Office. This not an issue about money, but about honoring what was promised. In speaking with Corporate today, I learned that Tristen had called them & the Regional Manager, Nicki (whom I called this morning and still haven't heard back from yet) & told them that I had been rude, belligerent, yelling and the like and was not allowed back in the store and that a refund was going to issued and mailed to me. Called the OH Atty. Gen. Office this morning & found out that this location has 14 complaints, another location has 29 complaints & another 18. Stanton Optical does deserve the right to operate as a business with this many complaints in existence. read more

I regret the day I walked in this place. First, had to suffer through listening to the new guy who was "assisting" us and listen to how bad his day was going. That's just the beginning, but all I can say is the two pairs for $20 sale is non-existent. I pulled two pairs from the "bargain" area and paid $80ish. I almost didn't have a problem with it but waited weeks and made several visits there inquiring about my glasses. I never received one of the pairs. The one pair I did get had cheap, cheap frames...could have gotten better quality at the Dollar store. Was told to find a new pair (had to wait again). New pair had badly made lenses. They were re-ordered. Overall, this place caused me a lot of stress. The staff seemed uncaring and extremely over-busy. I witnessed other customers getting mad too so I don't think these bad experiences are isolated. The back room (optician's room) is a big mess of trays and half the time the staff is going through trays looking for your name to find your glasses. Do yourself a favor and don't be cheap like me...go to a respectable optical shop...you might be paying more for your glasses but at least you won't feel like a "forgotten" customer like at Stanton Optical. Not sure what was worse, the bad service, the time I spent there inquiring about my glasses that I will never get back or the bad quality glasses. The new glasses I have now already have scratches on the lenses. read more
