I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Stanton Optical. I went in today because of their advertised offer of **$79 for two frames and an eye exam**. Unfortunately, once I was there, the price kept increasing because of explanations about my prescription and what was supposedly needed. My total ended up being **over $500**. I decided not to go ahead with the glasses and asked them to remove everything, but even then the total was still **over $200**. When I declined the offer altogether, I was still charged **$79 for the eye exam alone**. What made the experience even worse was the customer service. **The older blonde lady at the front was extremely rude and made me feel pressured rather than helped.** Instead of explaining the costs clearly and helping me understand my options, her attitude made the whole experience very uncomfortable. I left feeling frustrated and misled. I am now **$79 out of pocket and have no glasses or anything else to show for it**. In my opinion, the advertised offer was misleading, and I would strongly encourage others to ask for a complete breakdown of all costs before agreeing to anything. read more

This place is an absolute scam! They make you feel like a fool and embarrass you by telling you things are going to be cheaper than they actually are you get excited picking out frames then they tell you its gonna be $700 dollars. Found out later they did the same thing to my mother, who is on a budget. Shame on these people! Unfulfilled Order & Poor Customer Service at Stanton Optical Three months ago, my 67-year-old mother had an eye exam and ordered two pairs of glasses from Stanton Optical. We were told they would be ready soon. A month later, when we visited the location, we discovered it was permanently closed. We immediately called Stanton Optical, and they claimed they had left us a voicemail and sent an email about the closure--but I never received either. I checked my spam and inbox thoroughly, but no such message existed. They then told us that we could pick up the glasses at their Buford location. However, when we arrived, the staff said the glasses weren't there and directed us to a different location instead, handing us a phone number. When I called the second location to request they ship the glasses to my home, they told me they did not have them--they were supposedly still in Buford. At this point, I explained that my mother was leaving the country in two weeks and that it was urgent they locate the glasses and ship them immediately. About a week later, I received a call where they promised that the glasses would be delivered before my mom left. However, that never happened. Despite multiple phone calls, store visits, and clear requests, Stanton Optical failed to fulfill their commitment, causing major inconvenience--especially for an elderly customer who needed her prescription glasses. This level of customer service is completely unacceptable. I am demanding an immediate resolution, including a full refund or the shipment of the glasses as promised. If Stanton Optical does not resolve this issue, I will escalate my complaint to consumer protection agencies. I hope this review helps others avoid a similar frustrating experience. read more

I have been coming to this same doctors office for years but today when I went in for my annual eye exam everyone that was working on this specific shift was VERY rude. I sat for over 40 minutes while they helped every one else, one of the workers actually was sitting on her phone when she told me that I had to call my insurance company for my benefits I never had to do this myself. I left with one pair of regular eyeglasses. About 10 days later they sent me the exact duplicate pair I'd already received. I called, they said I keep the duplicates & they'd send the sunglasses. I will never go back here for glasses again. It is very costly. They text you when your glasses come in. I called the "store" just to make sure and it was their customer service department in another country. They said yes they are in. I drove across town the following day to pick them up just to be told no they are not in, but they have been shipped. It will be another 3-4 days. Mind you it has already been 2 weeks. So I called again a few days later and they refuse to let me talk to anyone in the store. So I drove there again and this time they are in. I went for my eye exam as the lady was performing it I told her that I could not see anything she continued on and ignored me until I removed the device from my face and said I can't see she then got another worker they reset the machine. I pick up my glasses two days later from the store place then in my face and I told the lady, " I can't see out of these!" She said , " Oh your rx changed so your eyes will adjust" I said no I can't see out of these they are blurry she continued to insist my eyes will adjust and walked away and helped another victim( I mean customer) , I called the 8775185788 and told them the story above. They said we will schedule you another eye exam. I was not happy because how inconvenient is this but I went to the appointment I walked it I was never greeted. Just directed to go to the back. I heard staff laughing joking in the break room and they left one worker on the floor I then redid the exam this time with a dr on the monitor with eyemd completed the exam and sat in the lobby for an hour waiting on what the staff said for the doctor to send the new rx to them. Then the manager comes to me and says I am sorry ma'am but our system just went down so we are unable to complete the exam...Can you say FRUSTRATED!!! And then was not able to schedule me for another exam for two days later. I went home crying because my vision is serious a lifeline if I must say so!! I came back the next day and asked for refund. They gave me receipts and by the way they did not refund me all my money back only $154 said I had to still pay for the exam. I waited 5 business contacted my bank to see why my refund was not returned they stated the merchant cancelled the refund!!! I call the 800# above they were absolutely no help!!! I call the store absolutely no help!!! And then I call the corporate office at 888 910 0170 and I am currently still waiting on a reply. I don't understand how this company is able to run and provide horrible service to people!!! I will call corporate and every store until I receive every dime of my hard earned money!! My brother is a veteran he'd been here a couple three years ago needed glasses very bad he has glaucoma... They don't say a word to him comes in they're doing the exam there's not a doctor on the site and he can't get glasses because there's no doctor to dilate his eyes and then they charge him $60 for nothing The exam is done remote that is BS.. they might not care, but when people have to live on a fixed income, this is BS warning do not go here!! read more

Do NOT bring young children here. The scheduling department is in Nicaragua and they will schedule an appointment NO matter what age the child is BUT office won't see them. Both of my children have been to the eye doctor for 2yrs already. 6.5yrs old and 8.5yrs old in glasses. Went in and was told they do tele visits and no children. AFTER the scheduling guy who asked for their birthdays and ages made the appointment. Spoke with manager in store who said doctor is in one day a week on Thursdays. They could be seen then n to come back. Then another associate chimes in and said no the doctor cancelled 6yr olds. So again ANOTHER COMPLETE MISCOMMUNICATION AMONG STAFF. Get it together. When you procrastinate you get what you get. I took an appointment on Sunday at 1:00. Wasn't "Seen" until 2:20. "Seen" in quotes because there isn't a Doctor here to do your exam at all. It was a sketchy video call with bad audio with a guy in a lab coat with an Indian accent, who has remote control of the exam machine! They schedule appointments 15 min apart even though they take 20 min to do. That's what they told me. So yea. Your gonna wait. Of course when I complained about the wait they didn't know any words that could be construed as apologetic. And because I was here for so long I had time to discover their Solid "C" rating with the Better Business Bureau. 128 Complaints in the last year. Heinous Complaints. Originaly came in for the $59 dollar deal for 2 pairs but the selection was pretty basic. Better off if you have insurance coverage or dont mind the hefty cost of the name brand wear. The staff is patient with you picking out your frames but very pushy with the extra addions to lenses. These can add several hundred dollars to your bill. I ended up using a groupon and was a able to pay for the 2 pairs I wanted for cheap (no additions to lenses). They have no optometrist so you have to talk to a lady on the monitor. She is not a optometrist and a kid could have done better than her. The receptionist and optometrist are not friendly. They seemed annoyed whenever they had to explain something, even though their instructions were not transparent. They would say something fast then leave the room immediately, which came off unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable. They also do not have a wide variety of eyeglasses to choose from either. Not a good place to go. First they lied about accepting my insurance. Second you are seen by a virtual doctor, if they are licensed ‍‍. Third you're paying more money than advertised, another lie. Fourth, your glasses/contacts take forever for pick up 14 days till eternity. One of my contacts box is ready and the other still in limbo.....This was a horrible lesson for me. Sure enough, Tristan and the rest of the staff had his glasses repaired in five minutes and for free... That's right, free. Put in a new screw, adjusted the frame and off we went. Staff is fine and all, I just had a problem with the actual eye exam. It was being done virtually, so ok, but once they set you up in exam room the tech walks out. So as the exam goes on there is no one in the room to keep tabs on the machine positioning and such and the only thing I can think is that the machine moved a little with threw off the testing. I got bifocals for the first time and have taken a few weeks to get used to them. They are find around the house but went to wear them to drive for the first time today and my distance vision is clearly not right! Of course, it is past the 30 day window to do anything about it. My fault for taking so long to become adjusted to them but I never thought there would be an actual inaccurate prescription in them! Of course a waste of over $300. have to go somewhere else to get an actual in person exam to get it right and start all over again! Glad I still have my old glasses to use in the meantime. read more

After picking out our frames, Thomas was super helpful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. He was able to find a second frame for my teenager, which actually put a smile on his face. A true asset to Stanton Optical. I would have given Stanton 5 five stars but the employee working with the optometrist was basically rude and had a non-caring attitude. She told me that they didnt take my optical insurance (I was told at appt scheduling that they did) and acted like it was an unheard of insurance. She did ask another employee about it, but not find take the time to investigate further. I finally made a one simple phone call to my insurance company to find out the provider company and found out I was even in-network, saving me lots of money. Thank goodness Thomas changed my mind about being a first-time stanton customer. We will be back next year. read more

I had originally given one star because it has been months and my glasses had still not shown up and there has been no communication from the store until today. They have a new manager and she made sure to call me herself and tell me that she had found my glasses at the store and even offered to run them out to my car so I wouldn't have to bring my boys in. She was very kind and apologized multiple times for the inconvenience. The lady who helped us at the Monroe St location was extremely rude. How she got a job working with people is beyond me. My husband needed glasses for the first time in his life and when he asked a question she would huff the talk down to, horrible person. They got my prescription wrong and when I tried to tell them and they did another exam without a doctor in the room only on the television, then after the exam the doctor wouldn't sign off on it, what a joke. I have asked for my money back all 500 it for the exam and the contract I bought with the wrong prescription. Whatever you do go somewhere else. My first appointment was Tues 6/16/20 did not know it would be a 'zoom' Doctor. Picked out prescript sunglasses and wanted prescript lens in frames I already had and wanted paper prescription for glasses AND contacts. That visit I received signed even though doctor not on premises. Called Mon 6/22 as contact prescript not right and so was scheduled to see actual doctor who is only in on Wednesday on 7/8 at 10:25 (but they changed to 12:45 as doctor not in at 10:45) Got trial contacts and a signed paper script for glasses but noticed later contact script not on it which I thought strange since doctor was on site. I went specifically for contact prescript so I called and was told they would have doctor write one and sign off so I could pick up the following Wed when she was in. Never happened. Every week was told was not signed and would have to wait until following Wed if I was lucky enough to get through that is because often got an off site person who knew nothing about my situation. Finally on Tues 8/4 after still not getting a signed prescript for contacts, not hearing about either pair of glasses, I went in to the store . Asked to speak to manager after waiting almost an hour manager sent over an associate to speak to me. I said I would wait for manager and soon after Tristan and Brittany came over.Told them situation and that wanted money back. Tristan said ok and she would get doctor to sign off for contacts. My own frames had come in on 20th (no call) which they gave me. Called back Fri 8/7 to get signed contact prescript and still not signed off. Brittany said trial pair given was wrong after I read what I had and was ordering me 2 correct pair since I still did not have prescript for and was wearing wrong prescript for month. Told Brittany that explained why my right eye was irritated. Supposed to take 5-7 days to get in and ordering 2 sets. Never received. Got a text 8/26 my 'order' was in. Not a phone call a text. But had already on 8/21 made appointment at another place down the street for 8/27 where I walked out with a paper prescript for both glasses AND contacts and was able to pick up both pair of glasses (sunglasses and reg) later that day! Communication and follow thru is what is lacking most at that location. The only shining stars at the Monroe St in Toledo location were Megan and the original associate who helped take my order on 6/17. Both were friendly and knowledgeable. Having been an executive at a major retailer I know the importance of taking care of the customer by personally following thru and communicating with the customer every step of the way until opportunity resolved and customer is happy. I feel I was more then patient because of covid but 2 months is never acceptable! read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! 11/2012 - I've worn contacts for years but decided to give glasses a try and noticed Stanton Optical's buy 1 get 1 free sale. I made an appointment, got my eye exam done (which they tell you is free with purchase of glasses, but you ACTUALLY pay for it up front to the eye doctor and they "deduct" it from your glasses cost). I picked out two pairs of glasses and then the problems began. The sales associates try VERY VERY hard to pressure you into getting the poly carbon lenses (large up charge) and the anti-reflective film (up charge), so far to the point it started to make me uncomfortable and I felt like I was getting crap plastic lenses. I placed my order for the standard lenses because I wasn't going to wear them much and left. I come back the next day to pick up my glasses and try them on. Both are just falling off my face (I should note that I am larger guy and these glasses shouldn't be falling right off my head). The girl warms them up and tries to adjust them. After about 10 min one fits fine. The other pair she cracks the lens while trying to adjust it. She tells me I can pick them up tomorrow. I come back again (3rd trip) and pick them up. They look and feel ok at first. After wearing them for a few days, I notice my vision is a little blurry. I stop back for my 4th trip there. I explain my problem, they say there was an "error" in the process of making them. So they will fix them and for my trouble they put in the lighter weight poly carbon lens. So I pick them up on my 5th trip there and thought I would never need to return. Fast forward to 11/2013. A year later I needed to update my contact prescription to order new contacts online. I have no idea why I decided to come back here. None. well during the eye exam the Dr. learns that my prescription in the computer is WRONG. (Later to find out it was HIS fault, but he blamed the Stanton employees.) I nicely asked to have my glasses remade, he said it would be no problem. So he told the manager (Kristen) and I thought it would go smooth from there. I explained my problem and the fact that I have had the wrong prescription (possibly causing eye damage) for a year and that I would like it if they upgraded me to the poly carbon because of their mistake. She said "No, you paid for plastic and you get plastic." NIce, huh? I then explained when they made a mistake on my previous pair that they upgraded me to the poly carbon and she said "No we didn't, if we did, it would be in the computer." I said I could bring in the other pair and show her and she replied "yes do that." So you want me to come back again? She replied "Yes." After raising my voice and arguing she said she would go ahead and upgrade them. She said they would be ready later in the day. I told her no rush, I'l' be in Monday morning (2 days from then). So we are on my 7th overall trip here now. Monday morning, 10:40am. I go to pick them up, and no one can find them. 15 min later they find them and they aren't done. 10-15 min after that they finish them and throw them in a case and I am on my way. Welp, I figured that would be the end of my story. That evening I take out my contacts to put my glasses on, guess what? No poly carbon lenses after Kristen told me they would upgrade me. I'm not going back to have them fix it. If I do, I'll end up making multiple more trips as they screw up every time. I'll just deal with it and never return. I should also mention in all of my times there I over heard employees telling customers "Oh we can remake those for you". It seems they can never get anything right. Stanton Optical is probably the WORST vision business I've ever stepped foot in during my life. The customer service is TERRIBLE. Business practices are shady, and the quality of their products is so low. Please AVOID at all costs. read more

I have gotten glasses here myself as well as helped my mother pick out glasses. The glasses that I got are not my favorite. I have bought two new pairs off coastal since then and am much more happy. Stanton's 2 for $69 deal is a nice cheap choice, but their frame selection leaves a lot to be desired. My mother recently went to get a pair of glasses there and the man who helped her get a pair of transition glasses charged her over $420 for one pair. It seemed clear that he wanted to get a big sale in. My mother felt very uneasy the next day because she can't really afford that so we went back in and asked if we could return them. The man that was so friendly and pushing for a sale the day before, said with annoyance "oh look who's back..." when he saw her walk in and didn't offer to help her. She was not dissatisfied with his service, she just knew that should can't afford those and wanted to know if we could get a refund and cancel the order since it hadn't gone out yet. Tristan the manager on duty at the time was SO helpful though when my mother asked for her help. She clearly valued my mothers business and did everything she could to help her out. She worked out a situation that my mother could afford, but was not pushy or fake about it. I was really grateful that she could help us. read more

Not only do they charge for the eye exam..( and signs all over that says FREE eye exams), but my husbands glasses were not even ready when they told us they would be!! And since it was because of a new computer program ( which I didn't understand that excuse) they did not even have the descency to give us a call to inform us, they wait till we get there ( made special trip) and inform us it will be another day!!!
