I called Stan to remodel my home office, and he came out the same day providing an estimate. I ended up hiring him and the work he did included, repainting the walls, ceiling, install new floor trim and door casings, plus some sheetrock work. His prices were fair compared to others and he even picked up all the trim from the supplier about 20 miles away. Great work, would definitely use again. read more

I'm sorry to have to review this but Stan is not a painter. Said he was a painter, I have had several paintings before and nothing like this! He quoted me 1600 to 2000 to paint approximately a galley kitchen and 3 average walls with 2high ceilings. He said he would have someone help him. said it would take 4 days. He was also doing doors and trim. When he came the next day he was alone. During the course of the 8 hrs he was to work he left twice the first day worked a half a day the Second day. When came the. Third day he said he had to leave early again. That's when I told him finish the walls and forget the trim and doors and go! I Had to tell to him to-paint the wall twice because first coat did not cover and he still didn't do it right! I had to get someone else to finish up! He even had the nerve to say he should have charged square footage the second day he came after he already quoted me. He's a nice Man but not a HandyMAN! Had to clean paint off of floor and fireplace Maybe he does other work better on other things and I'm sorry I had to post this but very upset over the end result and the additional cost it cost me and stress read more

I called Stan about cutting a kitchen cabinet as I needed room for a taller refrigerator. He came out promptly to give me an estimate, and a few days later he did the work. He did a beautiful job. He was prompt and professional, and I will be calling him again for other projects. Gayle Lawn, IL read more

I called Stan in a near panic because the valve tapping a water pipe to supply my furnace's humidifier was leaking pretty significantly. I explained the problem, and he instructed me how to perform a simple fix. It worked! He saved me the service call, and really saved the day for me! Thanks, Stan! read more

We had several tasks that needed to be completed, including drywall repair, hanging new miniblinds, mounting a TV on a wall, staining our vintage wooden entry door and adding a new custom address plaque to enhance the curb appeal. All of the tasks were satisfactorily completed, in a timely fashion, and for a reasonable cost. We will definitely keep this company in mind whenever we need a handyman. read more

Nice Guy...we needed help with Mom's (80 year old) house. Thought he'd be the ideal local trusted source for that help. Paid him more than he quoted to hang a storm door, because, well 80 year old houses frequently present challenges during repairs...and I am mindful that a persons time is valuable, and it took longer to accomplish than anticipated. Not quite completed, Stan was going to return to install some trim, that needed to be modified, and seal the door frame... Nope...no Stan. I did get him to return the piece so I could complete the project, so points for that. I found the new door jamb shimmed with cardboard...so, it's a "do over" at my expense. I liked Stan, I haven't decided if I should be angry, or just sad. I do know I'm fed up hiring people who can't deliver what they promise. I also hired a plumber...another story $1200.00 later... That one I'm angry about... read more

Stan is just amazing! He's friendly ontime and an honest handyman. He explains everything clearly with your repair so there are no surprises! His pricing is fair and upfront! I dont feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I'm so happy to have a reliable repairman for home jobs that may come up. Also it seems like he can fix about anything!! Thanks for the wonderful work on my bathroom Stan! read more

I was in the market for a handyman to fix a few things and mount a TV at my loft. I found Stan on Yelp and took a shot. He came out very early (at my request) and did such a great job, that I hired him to come to my office a few days later to do some more work, that he again did a great job on. He's efficient and resonablly priced. I fully intend to call him back to do some more work for me. read more

I called them reorganize my pantry. He gave recommendations, we ordered drawers online and installed carpenter shelves and saved a bunch of money ordering them myself. We also completed a punch list of odds and ends, garbage disposal, leaking sink, plaster and painted etc. A professional very clean, dependable and versatile handyman. For once I have someone to recommend to friends, and very reasonably priced. He has a website on Thumbtack.com, http://www.thumbtack.com/il/chicago/handyman/handyman-remodeling-punchlist-specialist but call him direct, you'll be glad you did. Gina read more

Stan seemed like a nice enough guy, and he showed up on time to provide an estimate. I had a whole punch list of repairs to my house of varying size, and while Stan didn't entirely grasp all the issues, he seemed fine to do the less complicated jobs. He gave me a good estimate, and wanted to wait to do the work till the weather improved. I was in no hurry, so that seemed fine. I called him a few weeks later to schedule a date, which we did. That date came and started to go, with me waiting at home having stayed home from work. No call from Stan. I called him, and when he answered he told me he's in the middle of another job. It appeared he had completely forgotten our appointment. He was distracted and told me he would call me back to schedule another day. I was annoyed, but I've found it unbelievably difficult to get a handyman who will return calls, or show up, or actually perform work, so I said ok. And then of course he never called me back. I'm guessing he realized the estimate he gave me was too low and blew me off to take more lucrative jobs. But his actions in both failing to show up, failing to call, and failing to call back to reschedule were unprofessional. read more

No work done. Stan came on Sunday and gave an estimate to repair a door jamb after a break-in, which I accepted, and told me he would be able to get to it Tues or Weds. Today, Weds, I called him, he said he was about to call me... that he could call me Thurs or Friday and let me know about doing the job this weekend. And, he would have to get someone else to do it. He could have simply told me up front that he didn't have the time, he chose not to. read more

Stan is unprofessional and a liar. I DON'T recommend him on any level. If you value someone who would be respectful and trustworthy, find someone else for your handyman needs. I called Stan to repair a set of fallen vertical blinds for my tenant. He initially quoted a price, work unseen, and subsequently proceeded to quote a price that was $60 higher after seeing what was needed. In trying to understand reason for the increase in cost, Stan responded as follows: "I gave you a free estimate. If you want a procedural break down of requirements, material etc. then it will be more. I think I have spent enough time on this job already (he hasn't worked on anything yet) and I'm too busy so you should find someone else to do this job. Sorry I couldn't help". He then lied to my tenant by telling her that I told him not to show up because of price. I did not. Stan is not worthy of your time and effort if he can't be honest in his business practices. read more

Stan is highly professional, knowledgeable and efficient in his work. Excellent service!!Stan came out after I called him late. My mom's ceiling fan was sparking. My mom's house is an old Chicago bungalow with old wiring. Look forward to hiring him to do other jobs at my mom's house. I would highly recommend Stan as a handyman is you are looking for someone honest, reliable, professional and excellent at his job. This is hard to find as many people handyman charge very large fees and I found could not even fix the items Stan was able to fix. Stan was able to envision what needed to be done for each item that needed repair and some items were not that easy to fix. Overall, Stan is excellent at fixing things and as handyman I would contact him again if I ever need any more items fixed in my place. read more

I purchased chairs that were too tall for the table I had and had the brilliant idea to cut the legs down to match the table. My idea worked. Stan came, he saw, and executed my vision with no problem at all! 30 Min's later it was done! Stan is so personable and professional. I HIGHLY recommend him. He is knowledgeable and his price is reasonable. I will use him again for anything I need to have done read more

Just moved and needed help to get some heavy pictures hung, speakers hooked up, water heater and furnace cleaned and inspected and some other odd items. Stan was efficient, made the appointment the day before and came out and finished the job in an reasonable time (2 hours). Stan's Handyman service is simply the best. I had a tricky, very heavy wood Murphy/Wall-bed with tons of parts/pistons/mechanisms that had to be fully taken apart to fit in a tiny freight elevator. (stress level high as it wasn't meant to be fully taken apart.) The bed then had to be installed on an older building plaster wall. Stan's work ethic is fantastic - so responsive - he worked non-stop, has a natural instinct across many trades and so wonderful to work with, I can't say enough of how thrilled I am that I had the good fortune to hire Stan for this and what surely will be many projects to come. read more

VERY, VERY, VERY pleased! I found Stan on Craiglist. Not only did he pick up the phone (a rarity in these days) but he called me back when he said he would and even had text capability (great for someone like me who usually doesn't have time for a phone conversation). He came out on the day he said he would. My husband was given the duty to stay and take care of things and when I got home, he couldn't stop talking about all the stories Stan told him (hehe). Stan found out my pipe in the kitchen was not as easy a fix as I hoped it woud be, and has not saved me from a future flood (unlike my bathroom which a few years ago I was too late to save). He even drove to the store and got a whole new pipe for me. I was also surprised by how clean everything was. Usually, whenever someone comes over to fix something, I spend at least half the day cleaning up and repairing the bumps and stratches they make. Perfectly clean here and no bumps or scratches. I would definitely recomend this guy (and I will!) and will surely call in the future. Thanks Stan! read more

I needed some one to put in a attic door and he gave us a quote ,my husband help.He did a great job.Thank you Stan

Stan and his staff removed a very heavy old water heater and replaced it with a new one in a very short period of time. They were punctual, professional and friendly! As a result from the old, leaking water heater, the flooring needed to be replaced. They returned to install the new flooring, which turned out perfectly. Because of his excellent service, I have invited him back to fix my broken stove! I highly recommend Stan's Handyman Remodeling to anyone looking for painting, plumbing, electrical and any other household repair needs. read more

Did a quality job on bathroom electrical. Was on-time and professional. Nice guy - very personable. Would definitely recommend.

This is my first review, but in the past 24 hours I have gone from having a nightmare project to having the problem resolved. I called Stan at 8:30 pm on a Tuesday night. Wed at noon, he and one of his crew were at my condo to complete a project that was too much for me (removing water-damaged hardwood floors and subfloors in my hallway and bedroom.) Within 5 hours it was done. He was fast, professional, courteous and very reasonably priced. It's so reassuring to know that I have a trustworthy resource in the neighborhood for whatever repair needs or projects I may have. read more

We contacted Stan for a quote for some framing/drywall/painting job. He promptly answer with his estimate. The estimate was a little higher than what we budgeted for so we agreed to do part of the work ourselves. Once we agreed on a budget that everybody was happy with Stan came and completed the job in a timely manner. We will be calling him again for other projects. read more

WOW! You've done just an amazing job.... thank you so much! I'm definitely keeping you on my call list as my go-to guy for home needs should anything arise. Far better than expected & at a highly reasonable cost! I am passing you on to others should they need home improvements as well. Thank you! read more

Very poor service! He brought a helper, who basically did almost all of the work. Stan charged $45.00 per hour for his labor (basically standing around talking and smoking cigarettes) plus half ($22.50) for his young helper...total of $67.50 per hour...not a totally unreasonable price if the work was done well. Unfortunately the work was very poor. The first day he charged me for five hours...they were only at my home for four hours. He left the job incomplete, promising to return in a few days to complete the project. When they returned the following week, he said he wanted to start our next project rather than finishing the one he had begun last week, opening up a wall and leaving a mess. He said he would return in a couple of days to complete BOTH jobs which were left unfinished. He never returned or called! I left several messages (not returned), and when i did reach him twice, his excuse was that he was "busy and intending to call and return soon". I'm still waiting!!! read more
